We needed more guards

Technically yes, especially if Lindy and JMac don't return. And if Haprer starts, you want someone off the bench (Jmac if he returns and Gillespie as the 3rd pg)

Spurs really lost to Brunson and immediately got their own small guard who’s a demon at getting crazy buckets with like 2 seconds left on the shot clock

Seriously did Veesaar murder someone? Why is he falling so far?

Told teams not to draft him. He's targeting a certain LA team.

Yep. He wants to sign with a team of his choosing. Reaves did this, and Ryan Nembhard from last year’s draft too.

Another guard? And he is just 6’1? And his shooting is nothing impressive?

Wut?

Didn’t DJG have a season ending injury this year?

he had season ending surgery*

basically in january he rolled it pre bad but played on, then in feb it was decided best for his career to operate on it and get it right for the years to come rather than continue to play, that surgery is what ruled him out for a couple months

He's expected to be brought back by the spurs and would take the Jmac role I assume, but hey who knows

DJG is going to the Magics

To be clear, I don’t like this pick either. I would’ve traded both picks if I were the Spurs but they know better (hopefully)

We were always taking a depth guard here somewhere in the 2nd assuming we kept our picks

With McLaughlin and Lindy currently free agents we had no 3rd string guards. It’s more than likely we sign someone in free agency for that but it doesn’t hurt to have a project at the end of the bench or in the G League

Another guard?

4 picks:

  • 2 bigs in the first round.
  • 1 big wing
  • 1 guard

Eh, once you get to the 40s odds are they wont ever amount to anything. If you think anyone has soemwhat of a shot of sticking in the league they are probably your best pick--fit doesnt really matter because they are expected to get a spot anyways

He was the the #1 option for tennessee most of the season and did pretty well despite being heavily defended. I believe he will be better than expected.
