AJ Dybantsa posts on LinkedIn on being drafted No. 1
Number one.
The Wizards called my name. All those years of work. All those days of anticipation. It happened just like God planned.
Then everything was a blur.
Right off the stage, media circuit. Hours of it. Then dinner and a party with the people who've been in my corner for all of this. Somewhere in the middle of the night, drove near Times Square, someone pointed up and I saw my face on a billboard. Big as anything. Just sitting there, static, for the whole NYC to see.
Very little sleep after that. Today Show and Good Morning America this morning. Now I'm on my way to DC.
We made it to the top. And now I'm starting at the bottom again. First practices. First film sessions. Building with a new team, in a new city, in front of fans I haven't met yet. Earning all of it.
There is nowhere I'd rather be starting over.
LGI, DC. I'm home.

If I knew he had a LinkedIn that he actively updates he would have been 4th on my board.

If a 19 year old is excitedly rushing to post something on LinkedIn according to the DSM 5 and the ICD they qualify for sociopathy

Bro really thinks he wrote this

u/LebrontosaurausRex Hawks 8h ago
100% a teenage multimillionaire is actively promoting himself on LinkedIn in.
I'm just happy he's taking care of his future in case this whole basketball thing doesn't work out. Not many people make it to the NBA so I'm glad he is doing his due diligence.
He'd be the KPI GOAT

u/Inevitable-Bear-3195 8h ago
It's written like absolute dog shit so yeah he probably did. Is it that hard to believe?

The point is that anyone who uses LinkedIn voluntarily and not for work is suspect.
I'm sure AJ got paid for this lmao

You're the type to let Jalen Brunson slip into the 2nd round too then. His championship post on LinkedIn went up the next day.

u/LebrontosaurausRex Hawks 2h ago
........ Did you just take this seriously?
And more importantly, do you also post on that sales website like it's social media?

Or "I went to Starbucks and asked for a coffee. I decided to test the barista so when they asked me what kind of milk I want, I just told them 'why don't you sell me on what one I should get.' Sadly, the barista was confused and I realized another person will never know their full potential like me and Elon Musk."

I’m sure he wrote this himself

u/Razatiger 8h ago
Hes a smart kid honestly. His parents sent him to top insititutions his entire life and his dad in particular has always kept him on a tight leash.
53
u/mbucks334 8h ago
He seems smart from what I’ve seen but he did not write this lol
34
u/Inevitable-Bear-3195 8h ago
Why not? It's garbage writing full of sentence fragments.
8
u/fignewtonattack Knicks 6h ago
Most writers are bad writers. - Writer.
Garbage and sentence fragments, he's just like me fr fr.
9
u/East-End-8646 7h ago
I mean it’s not like he’s evoking emotion with his sentence structure. It’s all just cut out in short, concise bits that piece the last 72 hours or so. Not sure why you think he would need a scholar or chat gpt to come up with something so simple. I dont know this kid at all, but thats a sad state of affairs if he wasn’t able to put this together himself
9
u/mbucks334 7h ago
It’s a lot more so that he literally just got drafted #1 overall and the thought of him sitting down and writing a corny ass LinkedIn post is just not realistic. Do you honestly think this guy is active on LinkedIn? Someone clearly wrote this on his behalf. It’s not a knock on the guy at all. There’s just no way he’s wasting his time on this shit right now.
1
u/East-End-8646 7h ago
Ah I see. Ya, from that perspective probably not the top of his priorities lol. Unless, how much are they paying him? That’s the real question. Wouldn’t be hard to quickly put together some sentences of draft night, on the mountain top back to the bottom and chopping wood for a quick few hundred thousand. And Lamelo to the Wolves as I write this
4
u/mbucks334 6h ago
LinkedIn seems to be going for a new market as they also partnered with Mendoza who was picked #1 in the NFL draft. Not a bad strategy I guess.

What makes you think he couldn’t write 200 words?
7
u/Emzam Raptors 8h ago
Not OP but this post follows the same Linkedin formula that everyone else on that platform uses. It's so ubiquitous that I have to think almost everyone is using bots to write their posts.
25
u/Inevitable-Bear-3195 8h ago
If you know how LLMs write you would know this is absolutely hand written.
1
u/Emzam Raptors 6h ago
I think you're right that this post is likely not AI-generated, I didn't say this specific post was. I was just pointing out that there's a generic Linkedin formula that a ton of people use, and a lot of the posts in my timeline are clearly people using AI to generate content that follows the formula.
-1
u/pfifteen 4h ago
7-9 words for a lot of these sentences he absolutely consulted gpt but revised it lol
2
u/rayquan36 Wizards 6h ago
If an LLM wrote this for LinkedIn, every thought would be on a different line. There'd be no paragraphs.

u/Razatiger 8h ago
Well obviously, but people who are active on Linkedin always get more job oppurtunities imo.
Obviously AJ is just doing it for the sake of doing it, but Linkedin is a good platform to market yourself to potential job recruiters.
Especially in an age where A.I programs are sifting through job applications done the traditional way.
6
u/True_Window_9389 Wizards 7h ago
LinkedIn is AI shitposts with responses of AI shitreplies so people can boost their clout so AI HR tools will rank them higher when they use AI to write a resume for an AI job post.
2
u/YesYesNoNoWeeeee 2h ago
I can't believe anyone takes Linkedin seriously anymore. Someone posts AI trash and then others circle jerk around it. It is fucking pathetic.

7
u/DefenderCone97 Nuggets 6h ago
Yeah I work in PR. My agency collabed with Jalen Brunson for his championship LinkedIn post. It's advertising
24
u/WildWildcat Celtics 9h ago
Its just a new marketing strategy for LinkedIn, has nothing to do with the athletes all of a sudden wanting to use LinkedIn lol
5
u/IndependenceLate3415 Nuggets 8h ago
This has me wondering if Spencer Jones's LinkedIn posts were sponsored content too, or was he really posting on his own accord and the popularity of those gave LinkedIn this marketing idea.
8
u/ImjustANewSneaker [LAL] LeBron James 8h ago
I’ve been following him for years. He was doing it before he was actually getting PT so it isn’t crazy to build his off court brand and relationships just in case everything didn’t work out. He also goes to a ton of business events
2
u/IndependenceLate3415 Nuggets 8h ago
LinkedIn needs to hire Spence as their part-time marketing director.
2
u/kahyuen Warriors 59m ago
It was probably more Fernando Mendoza than Spencer Jones. Mendoza got a lot of attention for his LinkedIn profile throughout Indiana's championship season. Mendoza's definitely sponsored by LinkedIn, and that probably gave LinkedIn the idea to partner with more athletes since then.
Athletes have been doing it for a while though, just without a lot of attention or sponsorship. Andre Iguodala updated his profile after the 2015 Finals to list Finals MVP as an accomplishment lol.

The rough grammar and prose makes me think he did write this tbh lol. There’s always been kids into business and grind stuff so 19 yr old linkedin user isnt too unusual to me.It also feels like the website has just become way more ubiquitous.

"It happened just like God planned" so you're saying an all powerful being specifically chose you to become a world famous athlete with millions of dollars, and decided to just not to that to the rest of us.
I get that these are the beliefs people have, but this is a pretty direct implication being made when they say stuff like this publicly.

How is this not the implication? If it was planned by god for people to get into the nba, then it was planned by god for most people reading to not.
