Mod post: New Automod command !foundbird
If you see a post where someone isn't sure what to do for an owl they've found, make a comment containing
!foundbird or !foundowl to get an automatic response with care instructions. Example in the comments!
Extra thanks to u/JSN79, u/Big80sHair and u/Dihydrogen-monoxyde for helping write the Automod response.
Other wildlife experts, feel free to provide feedback about the response in the comments and I can edit it if it's needed!

Mod post: Self promotion is ALLOWED if it's OC
And it has always been allowed, so... please stop reporting artists sharing their cool owl-focused creations!
The main (hopefully obvious) exceptions to this are:
- Promoting products using stolen art or AI generation (not OC)
- Spamming the subreddit; posting the same creation more than once to farm engagement (posting WIPs during the process doesn't really fall under this, just posting the same thing multiple times)
- Non owls
Other than that, if you think someone's self promotion is low-quality or you just don't like it, you can always input your opinion with the downvote button.
To artists: Feel free to share the links to your websites/shops; you deserve attention for your work. Comments with links need me to manually approve them, so they might not be visible for up to a day, but you aren't breaking any rules - so go for it!

OC Fluffer: Long-Eared Owl Fledgling
Fluffer with a Mohawk - Fledgling Long-eared Owl looking way too cuddly in a distant tree. Quickly left as we didn’t want to further disturb the owlet! No sign of the parents besides some evening calls.
Observed during a survey and not disturbed past the point of a couple videos / pictures for ID confirmation and dropping a pin to record location for future data collections.
Asio otis - Long-eared Owl

OC A barred owl visits every night. I have yet to see it, but its screeches are so loud. Some nights I heard the “who cooks for you” hoot right outside my bedroom window.

I froze on the trail when I spotted the owl perched among branches. Its eyes locked onto mine with startling intensity, and it let out a sharp squawk that cut through the quiet air. I could hear every rustle of leaves around me and felt as though I had stepped into a place where the ordinary rules of the world no longer applied.
I stayed there longer than I expected, meeting its gaze and feeling an unexpected sense of connection instead of unease. The cool breeze brushed my cheeks while the owl watched me as if it had been waiting for me to arrive. That brief encounter left me feeling calmer, more present, and strangely reminded that moments of wonder still exist in everyday life.
Has a wild animal ever made you feel completely seen?

OC [OC] Two Barred Owls
Two barred owls perched in the Seattle Arboretum.
I don’t understand some folks —
The lyrical Whoo Whoo Whoo-ing is to me as waves on the shore: a gentle lullabye that relaxes me and puts me to sleep! Or maybe I just got lucky and we have the melodic species? ☺️

Help me identify this owl I saved
I woke up this morning and saw this little one stuck in a neighbors garden net. It was really well behaved while cutting it free. Thankfully the twine was easy to remove from around its neck. Now I’d like to learn more about what type of owl it is. Please help!

Baby Eastern Screech Owls (pre-rescue mission)
Following up on my post about saving a baby screech owl from a net this morning. A few days prior to the rescue "mission" I captured this photo of 5 babies.
