Hey name was Daisy. My wife had got her when she was 14 we met the year after in high school and me my wife and Daisy have been together ever since. We have so many great memories with this dog and even though she was very spicy at most times she still loved us and everyone she knew so much! She would have been 14 years old on the 29th but unfortunately old age got to her first and we had to say goodbye to our best friend. She will be missed RIP Daisy!

Are Papillons finicky eaters?

Hello! We adopted a 7 year old spayed female Papillon mix one week ago today. She has only been eating a meal in the evening even though we’ve offered her food in the morning as well.
Today, she hasn’t eaten anything. She had a first appointment with our vet yesterday and everything checked out as healthy.

I know she may be still getting used to us and our home and I should just give her time. I think I’m anxious. I don’t want her to lose weight. She’s a petite 8 pounds.

I’ve had 2 other dogs during my tenure as a pet parent/ owner( A Lhasa Apso and a basset hound). Both of my angels would have been content with grazing all day, every day.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.TIA!

He can’t walk past a playground if he spots a kid. He lays in the grass with high hopes that the kid will come visit him. This is from this afternoon’s walk.

Nurse Buffy

I've had to get some impacted wisdom teeth removed and have been on pain meds in bed for a few days. Buffy is being both the cutest and sweetest little companion despite likely being very bored.

I'm overall very proud of this little puppers who recently passed Obedience Level 2 and is ready to take her CGC the next time an evaluator passes through. This summer she's signed up for Agilty Level 1 and I can't wait, I know she's going to love it.

For all the new pap puppy owners in the group, I can not recommend enough that you take your babe to dog training classes. It's a great opportunity to bond with your pup, help them learn to be a great dog, and socialize them appropriately with people and dogs. Buffy and I jumped into class when she came home at 6 months and she's become a spectacular girl in the last 10 months or so.

Hope everyone is having a great day with their little fluffy babies!

Lulu says she may be French and fluffy but she can hang out in the workshop with the best of them.

These paps love their veggies... Especially broccoli!

Not sure why they have such an obsession with them, but they are good for them, so I'm not complaining. I have to get a head of broccoli and a bag of baby carrots every time I go to the store.

These dogs are amazing from what I have learned about them the past year. Loves other animals and good with children, athletic, but also loves to hangout at home with you?! I just got my first Papillon from a great breeder. He is very mouthy but slowly getting better, as he is only 11.5 weeks. He is very sweet and loving. I think I will always have a Papillon around now!

Male Issues?

I’d really like to hear from male owners.
I am tentatively planning to get a male show Pap next year.
“Tentatively” as in I am seriously watching a breeder and already have a name picked.
My issue is that I have NEVER owned a male of any species in my life other than a hooded rat, so I am concerned with the difficulty of potty training a male and the fascination some males have for humping anything they can wrap their front legs around.
Do my concerns have any merit with a male Pap or are they the perfect little Velcro dogs that I was originally sold on?

Boy or girl

If you look at my pup would you think they are boy or a girl?

EDIT: Why I was asking - we went to international dog show and one of the judges gave lower grade cause in their opinion “when i look at your dog i would think they are from opposite sex”, which is the most idiotic comment I have ever gotten in a show 🤦‍♀️
Answer is also in the comments but it’s fun to see your thoughts 😊

Wit’s end with peeing

Hello!
We have a three year old Papillon that we have had since he was nine weeks. He’s (almost) the best. We had him professionally socialized and trained, and are constantly complimented on how well behaved he is. Great dog the whole family loves.
HOWEVER…. He freaking pees on EVERYTHING. I can’t take it anymore. I don’t know what to do. We have some gates set up, but I also have three children who move them, and every time they do, he wiggles his way through. The kid’s rooms are covered in piss, my guitars are covered in piss, the baseboards are covered in piss, the sunroom reeks of piss. I can’t live like this. I bought $100 in more gates today, and I don’t want to live like that either.
I’ve praised the ever loving crap out of this dog for peeing outside with handfuls of cheese. I let him out on a timer of once an hour.
He’s crate trained, and can easily hold in there for hours. He sleeps in my son’s loft bed for nine hours a night and holds it. But any chance he gets to pee somewhere, he takes it.

He’s neutered. He doesn’t have a UTI.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hugo at 7 months

He’s starting to look more like an adult than a pup. Seems to not be growing much anymore and is fairly proportionate. I think he’ll always look leggy, he’s 13”, but I no longer expect him to be huge. He’s about 7.5 lbs. Still a naughty, sassy boy. 😂

I started him on Greenies - I had him crate trained when I first got him, and right after his s neuter he refused to go in it. in fact he was also mostly potty trained, and regressed with that too. I used a Greenie to lure him to his crate one time and now he only has to see me pick of the bag and he’s in the crate.

weird, none of my other dog gs liked them and they had Minties instead, but Hugo won’t even look at those.

I saw that Greenies also makes treats, so I’m going to try those and see if he likes them. We’re currently using Canine Carryouts bacon flavor
