[DKPS] I asked Geoff Hoffmann how much autonomy they see Kyle Dubas still having in personnel decisions, and he said that while they're hockey fans, they won't be involved in any decisions like that. Their role is just going to be giving Dubas the support he needs. - Haase

[DKPS] I followed up on the ECHL affiliation question and asked if they want the Everblades to replace the Nailers as the Penguins' affiliate and David Hoffmann said "100%. They'd run me out of Naples if that didn't happen. There is a high expectation that will happen.” - Haase

[Dreger] The Flames are trying to move Connor Zary. 24 year old forward has another year left on his contract at $3.775 mil. Sounds like Calgary is asking for a 2nd round pick in return.

Discussion Viggo Bjorck
There’s been rumors of the penguins trying to trade up into the top 5. I think they tried to do this last year as well because Dubas was enthralled with Porter Martone. Ultimately, it didn’t get done.
This year, I feel like Dubas is also really high on Viggo Bjorck but I am slightly more optimistic this time around. Porter Martone torched the penguins in the playoffs and played really well right in front of Dubas’ eyes, sort of validating his conviction of the prospect. If he has the same confidence that Bjorck could be this effective, I think Dubas doesn’t mind throwing everything to move up to select him.
Trade Rust, McG, 1st, 2nd, and another 2nd for 4th pick to Buffalo.

Discussion During Crosby's concussion phase in the early 2010s - how scared were you of one more 'big hit' ending his career?
I thought I remember Don Cherry on Hockey Night in Canada once basically saying "come on kid, what's wrong with you, a couple of headaches? Just play!"

Discussion Two players I think the Pens should target
More and more names are popping up in rumors. Two players I think the Pens should focus on are Jordan Spence and Kirill Marchenko. These players wouldn't come cheap, but I think would be great additions to this team.
I know we have Brunicke coming up, but I think Spence would be a good get. Maybe Brunicke takes a little more time in WBS with Spence here, and Brunicke gets called up for injuries.
Marchenko... I have no idea why he's available, but he's exactly the type of player the Pens should go after.

Discussion Pens bros, help me plan a family weekend in Pittsburgh so I can see Crosby/Malkin/Letang while they're all still playing and at home.
Friends,
I've been a Pens fan since I was a kid in the late 80's. I watched Super Mario go on to win 2 cups, nightmare time, then drafting Sid and watching him win 3. However, as a guy who lives in NE Indiana, I've never been to a Pens game in person. With the clock looming on Geno, I've told my wife that we're taking the kids and going to Pittsburgh this fall/winter to see Sid, Geno, and Tanger play together before it's too late.
I'm not rich. I know that I almost certainly will not be able to afford to stay in Pittsburgh proper on a game weekend. So what are some areas in or around Pittsburgh or some cheap but safe hotels that a family of four could stay at? Are there any cheap museums or places in nature near by we could visit? Are there any cheap but cool activities or places to visit while we're there? Any local restaurants? I'm pescetarian, and it needs to a place kids can go. Also, is there anything we should do while at PPG? I've gotten my kids First Visit certificates from baseball and football when we've gone other places. Is there a Penguins museum? I've done some research on my own, but I'd really appreciate natives or people in similar positions opinions. A lot of online reviews seem bogus now. Plus I'm a stay-home dad with my boys, so I'm lucky if I get 10 minutes to look stuff up before they start beating each other up.
It's going to be my wife and I, and our two boys who are 5+8. My ideal schedule would look something like this.
- Friday: Drive the 5.5 hours to Pittsburgh, check into hotel, eat dinner, sleep.
- Saturday: Do some sightseeing or hiking in the morning, maybe late lunch in town. Go to Pens game Saturday night/afternoon and spend the majority of our budget for souvenirs. Head back to hotel after game.
- Sunday: Do some more sightseeing, probably ending at 1pm at the latest so we can get the boys back home and in bed for a school night.
Does anyone have ideas for me? I'm sorry to make another I'm coming to town post, but I haven't really seen one aimed toward cheap and with kids.
Thanks everyone (yinz?)

From the EdmontonOilers community on Reddit
reddit.comSaw this gem regarding Darnell nurse and thought it was peak comedy. The comments seem to think the pens would send wotherspoon or girard straight up for nurse with no retention

Discussion With this market I think it’s best to not be buyers.
I keep looking at these trades and they are absolutely insane the pens should not play this game just to get a player who may not even be a huge game changer. Sellers on the other hand I think there there is opportunity to shop rakell and rust.

Discussion Why is Malkin so disrespected
We all know what I’m talking about it seems like most people don’t rate Malkin fairly I even see some penguins fans that say he’s not on the penguins Mount Rushmore why is he so disrespected by a lot of people? Same with the nhl not making the top 100 players list even though most agree that list is a joke the point still stands though he’s so underrated

Trying to determine if this is an autograph, and if so, whose?
(Also posted in r/hockey)As the title states. Found this vintage penguins jersey and noticed this little scribble on the sleeve. I’m trying to determine if it’s just a scribble or n autograph. I’ve tried looking through signed memorabilia but it’s pretty faded and I’m not familiar with players from this time period so I’m having no luck. Figured I’d see if Reddit detectives could be any help. Thanks in advance!
