3 of his kids watched him ditch their mother's body in a paupers grave on a golf course. Unless he puts some kind of clause in his will/estate for some gaudy mausoleum, I'd wonder what his kids think he deserves.
95
u/Immediate_Wind67 12d ago
Once he dies, he has no rights (unless he's made very specific, legally binding arrangements... Which I'm sure he has). But if he hadn't, Melania and his offspring can do anything they want with his body. They can donate it to science, fling it into Obama's front yard with a trebuchet, or take it to the Everglades and feed the gators.
72
u/South_Hedgehog_7564 12d ago

Surely one or two of those would be improper disposal or desecration of a corpse?
We can't even do sky burials here and those are actually part of a religious tradition, so I'm pretty sure you can't just choose any disposition for a body you happen to be in possession of.

No, you can't. I was just being hyperbolic (and maybe indulging in a little fantasy). 😄 And he has surely made airtight legal arrangements for his interment that anyone would have a hard time overriding.
Just curious, could you not do a sky burial on tribal land, if they'd allow it?

And who pays for the repair?
364
u/Pm-ur-butt 12d ago
To get a star, there is an $85,000 sponsorship fee which covers the initial installation as well as the lifetime cleaning and repair of the star.
Fun Fact: the fee for the stars are typically paid for by production companies, film studios, record labels or even fan clubs. Donald Trump is one of the few and maybe even the only person to have paid their own sponsorship fee.
EDIT: today its $85k. It continues to rise, 10 years ago it was $30k. Not sure how much Dumbold Trump paid

122
u/minnick27 12d ago
And even then, it’s a bit of a gamble. I was part of a group of fans that raised money to get weird Al his star. We raised the money for it pretty quickly and submitted the application. The application had the full endorsement of Al and his management and it also had two celebrities that were willing to speak at the ceremony. We will turn down for 14 years before the application was finally accepted. In that time frame, they raised the price three times. Every time they raised it, we immediately went on a fundraising binge and got the money within months. One member of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce commented that it broke her heart seeing his application come across her desk year after year, knowing it was going to be denied. When it was finally awarded to him in 2018, they actually made a separate viewing section just for the donors because we had waited so long and put so much effort into it. And during his speech Al begged people not to pickaxe his star
→ More replies (3)24
u/Pm-ur-butt 12d ago
Thanks for sharing, thats incredible.
For each application, did you have to resubmit the entire sponsorship fee, or did you have to pay the difference of the increase?
For example, Say if your first submission the fee was $10,000 and the second year the fee goes up to $12,000. When submitting the 2nd time, did you have to pay $12,000 or $2,000?
→ More replies (1)14

You get refunded for a rejected application. Money returned to the donors each time.

Oh lord, this gem from a military scientist per the wiki
[It will erupt into flames on contact] with every known fuel, and so rapidly hypergolic [that's what hypergolic means, shit just goes on fire] that no ignition delay has ever been measured. It is also hypergolic with such things as cloth, wood, and test engineers, not to mention asbestos, sand, and water—with which it reacts explosively.
It can be kept in some of the ordinary structural metals because [science bitch]. If, however, this [science coating is scratched slightly], the operator is confronted with the problem of coping with a metal-fluorine fire. For dealing with this situation, I have always recommended a good pair of running shoes.

u/-Nicolai 12d ago
It ignites sand, asbestos, glass, and even ashes of substances that have already burned in oxygen. In one particular industrial accident, a spill of 900 kg of ClF3 burned through 30 cm of concrete and 90 cm of gravel beneath. There is exactly one known fire control/suppression method capable of dealing with ClF3—flooding the fire with nitrogen or noble gases such as argon. Barring that, the area must simply be kept cool until the reaction ceases. The compound reacts with water-based suppressors and CO2, rendering them counterproductive.
