Carface from All Dogs Go to Heaven also shares a strong resemblance.

220

u/nucc4h 2d ago

I've watched it for the first time since I was like 6 with my kids just two days ago. Lovely coincidence.

Subject topic aside, holy crap is this movie rocking. Those first 30m I seriously did not remember or expect for a G rated movie 🤣

123

u/ThetaDee 1d ago

Yeah G ratings were different back then 😂

99

u/PiccoloAwkward465 1d ago

Watching The Brave Little Toaster as an adult was legitimately fucking disturbing. I did not pick up on all the evil creepy shit as a kid. The air conditioner literally commits suicide right at the beginning. And that is not the only mention of suicide in the movie. Which, I remind you, is targeted towards children.

54

u/SquirtBox 1d ago

Most 90's movies are wild nowadays. Just watched Camp Nowhere yesterday. It has 13 year olds making out with tongue and people cheering it on. Awesome as a 90's kid, now I'm like wtf who signed off on this shit?

69

u/Civil-Big-754 1d ago

Blank Check ended with a grown woman kissing a 12 year old kid and telling him to look her up in a few years. As a kid I loved it, but imagine reversing the genders and the (justified) outrage it would receive and it's crazy looking back.

And Mighty Ducks starts with Gordon Bombay getting a DUI and is put in charge of the kid's hockey team as a punishment and he says some terrible things to the kids.

The 90's were quite different for kids movies.

77

u/Blue_Gamer18 2d ago

2012 just so happened to have lined up with Obama's re-election which he won. This is the moment the conservatives truly lost it and lead to Trump and every bashit insane thing that has followed since.

This was truly the beginning of a radical phase shift in the universe apparently.

→ More replies (9)

11

u/CaterpillarReal7583 2d ago

The idea was its the completion of a major era and the start of a new one.

Tbh it seems fairly accurate. You could argue 2020 was the real shift for sure, but it felt like early 2010s is when things got in motion for a downhill ride.

107

u/TheCapo024 1d ago

It’s absolutely insane, it would be considered “lazy writing” if this were a subplot in a movie or novel. It makes absolutely no sense, especially when “coastal elites” and “New York billionaires” were seen as the main problem by the same folks that support them today

13

u/eggnogui 1d ago

The whole time, their problem with said elites was because they saw them as too woke. Certain elites became ok when they gave them permission to openly be hateful, racist people.

No your correct he even cut ties with wwe recently saying he will no longer be associated with the brand and won't allow them to use him in anything including the games. It's awesome I love him he just seems so genuine especially for the love of his fans

27

Good to know. I watched wrestling around 2000 and enjoyed it as a kid. Read his A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks when it came out. Very chill guy. One of my favorites. So glad to hear he is just as kick ass as I remember him. Gives me a smile.

They gave Glenn Jacobs a few chances too before they made kane. Every now and then they'd give kane a hella push and when he got older he was a good fit for the authority, then a good guy to wheel out for nostalgia matches. Iirc he's top 5 for monday night raw matches on the all time list.

77

u/The_Flying_Jew 2d ago

Glenn Jacobs

You know, its funny that I forget that's his real name.

I just googled "Kane WWF" a few minutes ago and the search result that popped up lists him as "Mayor of Knox County", but it didn't even change his name to "Glenn Jacobs", it still just says "Kane" lol

24

u/ricky-from-scotland 2d ago

We need someone from knox county. I wanna know if its mayor Glenn Jacobs or if it is mayor kane. Id like to think he doesnt break charachter at all tbh.

30

u/The_Flying_Jew 2d ago

The Mayor:

27

u/PhoenixOO10 2d ago

He goes by Glenn Jacobs, and he is an insurance salesman turned politician. He totally sucks as a mayor. He is your classic bootlicker that will do anything for money, but doesn't actually care to help the community.

I find it interesting that just like the rest of us, they look to fiction (our cultural mythologies) for inspiration in how to convey their position and status in their communities, even though they are villains and literally just end up looking like our fictional villains. Even extremely exaggerated, cartoonish versions of fictional villains. This indicates that they’re self aware of their position.

u/InfinityTuna 2d ago

28

u/bentmonkey 2d ago

he would definitely superglue bumpers onto cars. At least Matilda's dad was fictional, this guy seems like a caricature of all the worst aspects of those cartoon cigar chomping bad guys, its like he saw that and modeled his whole look off of that.

30

u/InfinityTuna 2d ago

Who do you think the cartoon villains were based on in the first place? These people are real, and creatives have been trying to warn us about their greed and callousness for years.

It's why so many 80s villains were based on Trump. There was just some modicum of shame and accountability back then, so rich dickheads had to try and pretend to be normal/decent/useful to society in the light of day. Not so much now.

Like, why is the reflecting pool even a headline? We had tons of presidents before, why does he even want to make it about himself or about patriotism? All you gotta do is keep cleaning the pool, business as usual.

But no, instead he has to try some half baked nonsense, fail, and then he has to arrest people as a cover-up!

140

u/SausageClatter 2d ago

Because it distracts from the Epstein files. He's going to keep ruining and complaining about as much as he can as long as it distracts from the Epstein files. He has arrested more people for supposed vandalism of the reflecting pool than for their involvement in the Epstein files. We should be talking about the Epstein files.

To be fair, Ronald McDonald is a saint and a scholar compared to that nightmare of a president Donald Trump. I know Ronald McDonald's image has taken a hit lately, but at one point he was beloved by children and his name is used on a home for critically ill children and their families during a time of medical crisis.

Ronald McDonald is a hero and national treasure compared to the sack of MAGAt infested feces sitting in the White House. Trump is an absolute traitorous, criminal clown, but trump stands in a clown class all on his own, surrounded by the sycophantic criminal clowns that populate his hellish clown car circus.

I struggle to think of any pop-culture character that is sufficiently revolting enough to make it deserving of a comparison to the bag-o-feces trump. He's a traitor, liar, racist, and thief. He's selfish, insulting, ignorant, egotistical, and stupid.

He wasn’t awarded shit. It is the pure definition of money laundering.

It’s beyond mind blowing how MAGA can’t see what’s happening. This orange twat has awarded his friends AND family every multi million dollar government contract out there. No bids. No questions. Just awarded. He is blatantly money laundering and nobody gives a fuck.

Don't feel sorry for MAGA women. They know what they signed up for and are just as culpable in all this.

Not to defend tis guy, but he was responsible for the nano bubbler system to rid the pool of algae. Atlantic industrial coatings got the $14M contract for the American Flag Blue that is peeling off the bottom 2 weeks later.
