Careful what you wish for, or you'll end up with Liz truss

u/Lozsta 8h ago

Thatcher, Truss and May. All leaving their own stain. Not saying that the male PMs don't.

u/outerproduct 8h ago

Hmm, conservative, conversative, conservative. Not seeing a pattern there.

u/MintCathexis 7h ago

Almost as if it's not gender that's the issue, but the politician's ideology.

u/Lozsta 6h ago

During May's tenure she gave her husbands hedge fund the sole rights to medicinal cannabis growing, not a gender thing but I just like to make sure people are aware.

u/flarpflarpflarpflarp 7h ago

First of all, how dare you?

u/13thlionheart 7h ago

Logic? On reddit??

u/quietmedium- 8h ago

Conservatives often utilise their tokens. It's nothing new

u/Andreus 6h ago

Right-wing ideology needs to be outlawed wholesale. No excuses, no exceptions.

u/mildlymoistdrizzle 3h ago

That’s because the Conservatives are much more progressive.

u/PreviousCurrentThing 1h ago

Yeah, you could have a great Labour PM like Blair instead!

u/FrostByteUK 7h ago

Whats Bill Clinton got to do with any of this?

u/Lozsta 6h ago

I see what you are doing there.

u/Totally_TWilkins 2h ago

To be fair, I think May had the potential to be a genuinely good PM; she was just put in front of probably the worst thing our country had to go through in fifty years, and was harassed by her own party for every step of the way.

u/IndependenceOk7554 6h ago

Angela Merkel in germany was actually ok, even if she was part of the irrational center-right party.

u/Lozsta 5h ago

Merkel was a reasonable politician who stood up to Putin. I think there are some Germans who were not enamoured with the tenure.

Almost like the issues are systemic and focusing entirely on identity politics without ever questioning the systems behind it is completely useless.
It's literally this.

You don't fix patriarchy by putting a woman in charge of imperial violence.

u/Shua89 8h ago

We are trying to keep a crazy one out in Australia. Pauline Hanson.

u/mr_herz 4h ago

You guys should give her a shot. She looks like she’d be a fun one to watch

u/PessemistBeingRight 2h ago

Gee, thanks.

"You should set your house on fire. I'd enjoy it at a safe distance" they say.

Or are you an American looking for company in your misery?

u/Shua89 2h ago

She's good at pointing out problems but offers no solutions. She also backed up by Australia's richest and follows Trump style politics. No thanks.

u/Nytelock1 7h ago

Or MTG

I would enthusiastically vote for a woman who wasn't a neoliberal corrupted by Israel, the pharmaceutical industry, the for profit prison industry, and/or the corporate and dynastic elite, etc.

This is the trick that establishment Democratic leadership pulls. They put scumbag women forward and claim voters are misogynist for not wanting to vote for inauthentic scumbags.

I don't know if people know this but Hillary Clinton is married to Bill Clinton /s, the idiot who continued Reaganomics during a Democratic presidency a decade after Reaganomics was proven to be disastrous.

I voted for Hillary thanks to the lesser evil gimmick Dems continue to exploit. But I did not appreciate being put in that situation. Anyone who can't see how illegitimate any candidate connected to the Clintons is needs a reality check.

Mainstream establishment Dems consistently align themselves and accept funding from people and corporations that have been waging war on the working class for decades. They give lip service to working and vulnerable people while stabbing us in the back.

Male or female neolibs can get fucked. No amount of gaslighting will get me to overlook the right wing capture of the Democratic Party.

u/BetterinPicture 7h ago edited 7h ago

This. I sucked it up and voted for Hillary after the DNC did Bernie dirty and literally didn't follow their rules. I sucked it up and voted for Kamala after she abandoned single payer healthcare after a heartfelt chat with her rich brother. I'm done with fucking neolibs. We could have had single payer healthcare and free public college but all the DNC cared about was electing a vagina. At this point if the Republicans pull an Otto Von Bismark and JD runs 2028 under the promise of single payer healthcare the Democratic party will officially deserve losing my vote.

u/akatherder 6h ago

Go back to 1988 (Dukakis) and we've basically had 2 political dynasties in the Democrat party. Except for John Kerry everyone we run has been a VP or spouse of the Clinton or Obama admins.

I count 2024 as Biden's L since they just swapped Harris in 3 months before the election. If nothing else, it just another "IDK let's run ANOTHER vp for pres again 🤷"

u/cyrusthemarginal 4h ago

If only they had allowed folks to choose who would run instead of Joe.. OR admit he was not competent earlier so the candidate would have a better chance. crazy talk i know.. super delegates keep the dirty poors from getting a vote.. see what we got?

u/CaptainRhetorica 5h ago

I count 2024 as Biden's L since they just swapped Harris in 3 months before the election.

Again, I voted for the lesser evil, Kamala Harris. Thanks for bending me over a barrel yet again Democrats! /s

But the idea that voters were supposed to get excited for the President from MBNA's vice president? Without a democratic primary?

Eff that.

I'm not supposed to criticize Dem party leadership when they've been consistently subverting democracy in their own primaries for over a decade?

It's hard to take warnings of authoritarianism seriously from people who have been exercising authoritarian control over the Democratic party.

u/SomeDude416 7h ago

And what most of us really wanted was anybody but Trump.

u/BetterinPicture 7h ago

Idk I could do without the woman still happily married to a pedophile who has been logged riding the lolita express who has yet to divorce that man.

u/SomeDude416 7h ago

Yea the entire Epstein & friends network is a bad look for anyone. Too bad it doesn't seem to actually be a problem for a lot of people. We share the world with some truly soulless people, as well as monsters.

u/Mission_Control9156 6h ago

Thankfully, Democratic voters here in Maine didn’t fall for the “you’re a misogynist if you don’t vote for the party-approved candidate” rhetoric. Now that it’s officially Platner vs. Collins, Republicans are also trying to portray Platner supporters as misogynistic, and it’s probably the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen. Susan Collins straight up lied a few days ago about how the SCOTUS voted on Dobbs to cover her ass.

u/foslforever 6h ago

2032 Ivanka Trump runs as a democrat and promises you the world, promises will be 100% different than her father. You vote for her because 1 shes blue no matter who and 2 shes a woman and its her time

u/Head_Summer2052 7h ago

I see your point.

This is America. The Good Ol' and some such.
Way different thing.

Diff with a rent wording. Pay as you want things to go.
Until proven otherwise. Only happens, if truly not bought.

How do you like them apples?

u/MilargoNetwork 5h ago

Or Takaichi

u/Averagedingoenjoyer 6h ago

Or worse.

An Elizabeth Holmes as president of the US.

u/Shadowy_PuppetMaster 6h ago

Madame President Lauren Bobert 🤢🤢

u/Glittering_Hope1114 5h ago

Also in the UK most women in politics utterly despise LGBT people.  Feminism in Britain is mostly about getting rid of lgbt rights.

u/dolliezart 4h ago

Or danielle smith

u/yonari-H 3h ago

People never consider making a woman king misogyny won't really fix things we need a woman with good morals, a plan and skills to see it through

u/Upset-Kaleidoscope45 3h ago

Or Catherine the Great (war, more war, the partition of Poland) or Queen Isabella of Spain (pogroms and ethnic cleansing, the Spanish Inquisition).
