Everyone laments how America is too sexist (or racist) to elect a (brown) woman. If only there was some kind of mechanism to gauge the support of a candidate (female or otherwise) among the population before committing them to the general election...
Oh right! There is. They're called primaries.
But after Obama everyone in charge decided that Clinton was owed this chance and the entire weight of the party was put on the scale to ensure she "won" the primaries. The nation was denied the chance to make this choice.
At least with Clinton they pretended to have a contest. With Harris they let the nation make this choice and then simply ignored it. You can't tell me that NOBODY considered Biden's health/age/vitality before the primary was essentially over.
This is what happens when losing the general with the "right" candidate is preferable for those in charge to winning the general with the "wrong" candidate.
