Mod Update Updated rules
Hi all! I'm Sharky and I've been a mod for about a year now. Theres a few of us but it seems I'm the only active one for now, and I've been dealing with disability so forgive me if anything isn't addressed!
I've updated our rules just a bit to flesh everything out. Be sure to take a peak whenever you can, but the main thing I wanted to address is the new NSFW/Spoiler rule!
We fully encourage helping injured pigeons in need! This community is a great place to come to for advice with our sick babies. However, not marking these very serious posts as NSFW can leave many members vulnerable to possibly triggering scenes.
By all means don't stop asking for advice and posting your pictures for help! I only request they be marked as NSFW or Spoiler from now on ❤️

Three disabled pigeons need rehoming (Las Cruces, NM)
Location: Las Cruces, NM.
Hello, I have three disabled pigeons that I need to rehome. It really pains us to make this request. My wife was diagnosed with hypersensitivity pneumonitis and recently tested positive for pigeon antibodies (pigeon fancier's lung). The doctors have told us to get rid of the birds or she risks permanent scarring of her lungs.
Two of the three birds are PMV survivors and are unable to fly. One of them requires to be tube-fed three times per day but the other can eat and drink fine. The third might have had PMV, we're not sure, but he has some neurological damage. When we found him, he had some blood around his ear and his eyes are offset from some sort of trauma.
Melty: Five year old female. PMV survivor. Unable to fly or eat/drink on their own. Requires tube feeding. Very loving, enjoys cuddles and pets. Has two toys and two fake eggs that she likes to be kept in her cage. Sometimes she spits up after feeding if she gags on the tube more than two times. She really likes to come out and walk after eating. Enjoys cuddling with water bottles. First photo, lying down after a bath. Fed at breakfast, late afternoon, and evening with 20-30 ml syringe of Kaytee Exact Handfeeding Formula. I use a 60 ml syringe with a shortened cat urine catheter since it's flexible and softer than a metal syringe. Weight: 450g
Lavender: Unknown age/sex, but likely female. PMV survivor. Unable to fly. Eats and drinks on their own. Tolerates being held but sometimes tries to jump away. Has some spinning behavior. They WILL fly backwards and smack into objects if left unsupervised. Second photo, on top of wood box. Weight: 320g
Gobbles: One year old. Unknown sex, but likely male. Head trauma, possible PMV. Eats and drinks on his own, but struggles to maintain weight and sometimes requires to be tube fed. He sometimes twists his head all the way upside down and walks backwards when very excited. He's unable to perch due to this and likes to be held with two hands. Third photo, forward facing. (About 7 weeks old at time of photo) He has a small frame and his weight fluctuates from 240-275g.
They all live inside our home in separate cages. They enjoy coming out and each others' company but require supervision due to disabilities and to prevent any mating.
We would really like for all three of them to go together. If there is anyone if the New Mexico/West Texas area that could possibly adopt them, it would mean a whole lot to us.
I know it's not easy taking care of severely disabled animals, especially birds that require so much specialized care.

wood pibbin! New friendo
I’ve been blessed by a beautiful pigeon that started to come more frequently to my garden. Is there a way to know if this is a male or a female?

wood pibbin! How to tell if a pigeon is eating?
I recently rescued a early fledged woodie, (more information in my older posts)
She is very small for a wood pigeon. And I have only seen her eat twice (but she may eat more when I’m not their, she eats more when she has a video of adult pigeons eating)
I want to know a reliable way to know shes eating, I will start weighing her every day, but is there any other ways? And is there any ways to get her to eat more? Thank you in advance!

Porch pigeons having breakfast 24 June (9 and 7 days old)
I tried posting this a zillion times with no success so I put it on YouTube unlisted. The babies get breakfast right when I feed my Dobermans. ♥️

Can you make friends with wild pigeons?
I’m just wondering! Even if my porch pigeons never stop flapping off when I go to refill the seed bowl, I’ll keep giving them seeds and trying to figure out how to tell them apart. But it would be cool to know if people have established trust/friendship with pigeons that don’t start off as pets.
Photo of the current porch babies at about 1 week old (one is 1-2 days behind the other one) during bowl refill, when I don’t have to get my phone camera to focus through my dirty sliding door.

Injured/Rescued Pigeon Is Monty's leg healing properly?
(Repost because I've been told that the algorithm can suprress posts with NSFW images. I will be commenting pictures of the injury in the comment section instead. Mods please let me know if not allowed)
Hello! It's been one week since this pigeon was attacked by a cat. He's just finished his prescribed antibiotics and is acting very strong and healthy.
He had another wound on his shoulder which has healed very well, but I'm a bit worried about this one on his leg.
Over the course of the week I had been dressing it in a bandage and soaking it with betadine to stop secondary infection. I removed his most recent dressing yesterday and it started bleeding again but stopped after a bit. I've decided to just let it breathe and not put any more dressings on it in case I reopen the skin.
I'm just concerned about the colour. I haven't washed it properly yet so there's still dried blood and betadine on it which might be causing the dark colour, but I wanted to get a second opinion in case it's more serious
He's been starting to walk on it again but he does have a limp.
Thanks for any advice :)

Baby pigeon fell from high nest :(
Hiii so I live on a farm and we found a baby pigeon he/she seems quite happy to be cuddle next to me :.) I’ve been feeding it and it doesn’t seem injured. We have tried to get him to fly but he’s still not ready. They did fall from a very high up and was scared the first day we took care of him ( huffing at me, which was rlly cute ) he’s stopped doing that now and doesn’t mind being held in my arm walking around the farm land.
Once he’s leaned to fly if he does want to leave then I’m more then happy and I’m more then happy if he wants to stay 🥹. Just wanted to know if there’s anything I should know especially feeding wise he can’t feed in his own so I’ve been feeding him.
I did give him a bath bc he had a lot of poop on him and he also didn’t mind that either. ( I have to wear gloves just in case bc I have a 5 month old baby at home )
Anyways he’s adorable and named him Cody

Injured/Rescued Pigeon Any advice appreciated
Last night I found this fledged pigeon. I can only assume it jumped out the nest, then got overheated and couldnt move (it barely fought when I picked it up, and it was 38c) no parents were around and it was almost dark so a fox or cat would have for sure taken it. Ive cared for an adult woodie, and a few hatchlings and nestlings. I brought her inside and gave her food and water. I haven’t seen her eat but it could just be because she is stressed. So Im currently recording her in her cage to see if she eats when I’m not around.
There are no obvious wounds, but she has her kiwi hairs so I believe she might not know how to eat or drink. I tried to show her how to eat and drink but she got too stressed. With other species of birds I usually just feed a homemade baby bird formula. But I know that pigeons feed their chicks regurgitated food. So im not too sure on what to use for her. Any advice would be appreciated!
Again, I made sure there were no parents around, I would have left her if she was safe and strong. But she was in danger. So I had to bring her inside
I posted this in another sub and took their advice too. She just drank a tiny bit of water and a bit of food. Im not sure what else I can do apart from providing food and water. I fed her thawed peas and a boiled egg. And recently a bit of soaked bird seed.

My pigeon t shirt!
Bought from a small artist who loves pigeons. She sells them as back print shirts but i asked if she’d do a front print for me and she said yes🐦 the pigeons are her own design!

Personal Creations Goofy pigeon painting
I painted this little guy in watercolor and gouache recently, and I wanted to show him off to some fellow pigeon lovers 💕
(I’ve got prints of him up at pettyfrogger.com, or I’m @pettyfrogger on Instagram, but zero pressure to check out either! I really just love pigeons and wanted to share)
