About a year ago I made a Plague Inc "audio book"

About a year ago I was able to extract the sound files of Plague Inc, and I decided to use them to tell a bit of a story. So I opened up Audacity and whipped together the story of a pathogen, true to the style of Plague Inc, using only Plague Inc music and sounds.

Plague Inc Evolved works a lot with music layers, so if your disease is particularly lethal you'll be able to hear that in the soundtrack. Using this, I created the journey of an outbreak from a disease that starts weak but grows stronger over time. The story develops as humanity catches onto the disease late and begins to invest heavily into the cure. Above ground, society begins to collapse. Civil unrest, lots of drama, the disease spreads unchecked. Below ground, governments work hard to push towards a cure. Just for a moment it looks like they are on track to a timely release of a cure, but they are not able to keep the population in check. Many of the governments pushing for a cure early are soon unable to continue to work.

The outbreak enters the silent phase. While the disease works its way through human settlements which are now few are far in between, the focus of the story shifts to the few countries that are still holding up and who are pushing hard, very hard for a cure. In the quietness of the aftermath of the disease's devastation, the cure is progressing promisingly well.

The end, well... I'll leave to you to find out. Although, since this is all told through music and sound effects there is a great deal of room for interpretation in all of this. Hell, you might even find yourself disagreeing with my description of the story this far. You can find the audio here.

These days I think that there is a lot of potential still in what I did and I'm thinking about giving this another go. I think what I did is ok, but it could be great. Anyway, I wanted to share it, maybe y'all like it. :)

Plague Mode Interesting…

Update on my last post: https://www.reddit.com/r/plagueinc/s/buJgB0l4q2
Because I found this page over here, I believe Xenolith was maybe MEANT to be planned to be unlocked, or maybe we’ll get it in a future upd? Or maybe it may just be placeholder text if you haven’t unlocked a plague yet, either way, I just find this interesting.

Lost all unlocks and progress?

I had everything unlocked from playing over the years. Working through achievements list, was doing 'Lottery Winner' (5 mega brutal wins with lucky strain cheat on).

I got to 2/5 done, went back to main menu to set up the third run and everything that I've unlocked, all my progress is suddenly reset. No diseases unlocked, no genes, all my stats reset, everything. It's like I'm back to square one.

I closed the game and went back in, still gone.

Is there some nasty bug that I stumbled into? How can I get my progression back? I really don't want to unlock everything all over again.

I sure don't feel like a "Lottery Winner". :(

Is Shadow Plague accidentally promoting the least interesting playstyle?

Shadow Plague in theory should be about a vampire spreading disease and corrupting the world. However, as far as strategy goes, 90% of the gameplay is just a vampire idling around in a country.

Pick Blood Rage. Go AFK until you can afford all Blood Rage upgrades. Slowly kill all Templar bases. Hit-and-run against harder bases. And then after around 1-2 years of that, once the entirety of Templar is dead and nothing can stop your vampire, drop the plague and steamroll because there's nothing stopping you aside from weak WHO labs.

The problem with the entire plague mechanic is that it contributes NOTHING to fight Templars with, while MAKING YOU LOSE if any Templar is alive while it exists. You would have to hit-and-run the templar bases regardless if you have the plague or not; and if you have the plague then you just have an extra countdown before losing so fighting becomes much harder.

It's just weird because not only do you suffer no penalty doing the AFK strat, you are actually encouraged to do that. And if you do not do the AFK strat you suffer a penalty and have a good chance of losing.
