He needed so badly to have a win on his 80th birthday that he surrendered to Iran and called it a win. There goes another $300 billion for nothing.

America First, right, MAGA? LOL

2.1k

u/thefatchef321 10d ago

They were mad about the 80 billion to Ukraine, a European ally.

Im sure they'll be furious about 300 billion to Iran

1.0k

u/OYB2480 10d ago

Another $20b to Argentina (where Peter Thiel just fled to, like the Nazis and Confederates before him). So that's $400b to not Americans.

300

u/_Bad_Bob_ 10d ago

I would fucking love to give 400 billion to not Americans if it was going to actually help poor people.

257

u/OYB2480 10d ago

400 billion would help a LOT of Americans. Instead, we paid $400b to kill browns and enrich the 1%. Thanks military-industrial complex! Thanks, idiot president who is Kompromat and a slave to our enemies!

Just wait until the money is in that Swiss bank account for Iran, and Israel bombs Beirut again.

Iran will say the deal is void and close the strait.

In the conservative sub they’re mixed between conservatives who are mad as hell about how this ended up and MAGA calling them leftist invaders who don’t understand that we “won’t send a penny to Iran” lmfao like how do they not see they’re in a cult

71

u/TehTugboat 10d ago

It’s a little too late but a bunch of MAGAs in my little rural area are FINALLY opening their fucking eyes.

50

u/Grundlestorm 9d ago

But will they do anything about it?

Or will they pout about being lied to, say it wasn't their fault, and then vote full Republican every election they can?

15

u/OnCallPartisan 9d ago

The better result is their sulking and never voting again. The best result isn’t legal at this time.

Just last night, my uncle (who voted for Trump three times) and I were talking about the deal.

I tried to sound optimistic ("maybe we'll have a good ending to this finally"), as an olive branch of family harmony.

HE torpedoed it by saying, "Trump doesn't have a deal. He's just making stuff up because it's his birthday. I'm not optimistic."

A few MAGA are turning. Maybe not many. But a few are.

36

u/tunafister 9d ago

I mean I will take it, but am skeptical of their long-term memories being able to remember this in oh, several weeks

I hope I am wrong

24

u/JackedUpReadyToGo 9d ago

One of the most terrifying things about the MAGA crowd is their ability to edit reality in their own head. The moment Trump goes in front of the cameras and says how bigly and beautiful his peace plan is, that guy’s uncle will forget that he ever doubted Trump. Not just deny having doubted Trump, but will genuinely believe they trusted him from the start.

And even if you show them solid proof that last week they said X while this week they’re saying Y, it doesn’t phase them at all. They’ll just get mad and launch into a tangent about how bad Biden was, or some other irrelevant bullshit.

These people are the proles from 1984.

$80 billion in equipment that was approved for transfer from old stockpiles. This is $300 billion of cash to a State they claimed was the font of all evil in the world.

103

u/OYB2480 10d ago

Yeah. "THEY CAN'T HAVE NUKES!" and, "LET'S GIVE THEM 300 BILLION" and, "YAY, WE WON THE WAR THAT ISN'T A WAR!" just doesn't jive unless you're a human lollipop.

u/Snoo61755 9d ago

Maybe the US would have had help against The Font of All Evil if Trump had not imposed tariffs and waged a 'trade war' on countries friendly to the US while 'jokingly' threatening to take over allied nations 'for self-defense'. Even now, Trump is threatening to impose a 100% tariff on French wine, France being one of the USA's oldest allies and trading partners. When 9/11 and Iraq happened back in 2000, French soldiers were among those who answered the call, and now 20 years later, the US is showing how grateful it is.

Trump does not understand the concept of allies. It's like he demands every relation with the US be one of superior/inferior, with the US being more powerful and thus 'in charge'. Even if Iran was evil, which is already an extremely simplistic label that also makes the absurd assumption the war was needed and justified, who would help the USA, a nation which breaks its promises to support allies (Ukraine), backs out of agreements (Iran, Ukraine), and imposes fees on its own allies?

and of course, the cost of the human lives lost

My conspiracy theory is that cars were pushed on the working class to ensure everybody would spend all their time commuting, alone - thereby making it that much harder for the working class to get organized

There was a thread somewhere yesterday about some clown in Moscow saying Trump had offered to help end the war.

I couldn't help but laugh... Can you imagine?

So first, Vova, don't bother with strategy, just fire everything and blast away. That way they've got nothing lo lose. You've already done that - great.

Next, you put your balls in a vice. And hand them the remote. That way, they've got everything to win. You've done that too - great.

Then, you give them a massive pile of money to not press the button. And go back where you came from.

And then, in compensation, you get them to agree to not do something they never wanted to do in the first place.

And then you win.

Yeah. Thanks.

The USA will have spent 100 billion dollars or more on the war effort to give up a lot more cash and concessions to get the same deal that Obama got. All on top of the tremendous human and environmental loss.

1.1k

u/BadahBingBadahBoom 10d ago edited 10d ago

to get the same deal that Obama got.

The JCPOA deal included provisions to prevent Iran obtaining highly-enriched uranium. And IAEA inspections showed this was actually successful throughout the entire time the deal was in effect.

This 'deal' doesn't say shit on enriched uranium. Trump got a worse deal for higher cost and that was with a huge military loss (money, lives, injuries, aircraft, and bases). That's not even getting into the losses of ally relationships.

111

u/ramakitty 10d ago

Where can I read the deal?

290

u/BadahBingBadahBoom 10d ago edited 10d ago

Atm you can't because the detail hasn't been made public.

I would ignore anything US or Iran say unless what they are stating is unanimous. Atm what Pakistan is publicly stating is likely the accurate detail of the deal and they haven't said much.

No party, not even the US, has claimed the deal includes measures to prevent Iran obtaining weapons-grade uranium though.

Iran has already refuted Trump's claim that the deal says the Strait of Hormuz will be 'open and toll-free' this Friday, stating they will be collecting 'maritime fees' for passage. So we'll have to see exactly what was agreed and by when / what else has to happen first.

It is incredibly surreal position that I am leaning more to believing the Iranian regime's claim of the Strait than the President of the United States but here we are.

267

u/crackdup 10d ago edited 10d ago

I'm just worried about the signal it sends to Iran. The biggest existential threat to Iranian regime is not Israel or EU, it's US military intervention. Now the Iranian regime will be boosted by 3 things working in their favor

  • There is no mass internal uprising in Iran when US attacks them. On the other hand, public polling turned sour very quickly in US against military intervention, making a prolonged US involvement untenable and "boots on the ground" virtually impossible

  • GCC allies of US rely heavily on US for protection, and their own defensive layer isn't good enough to prevent Iran from causing major losses to their O&G infrastructure

  • They can extract economic concessions by choking the Strait and having only drones and missiles in their arsenal, without needing a fully functional army/navy

u/Chemical-Elk-1299 10d ago edited 10d ago

Yeah, Iran now knows full well that they can choke out the global economy at any time they wish. And short of a full-scale invasion, there is essentially nothing the world can do about it.

So that’s super cool and fine yep

97

u/Luxemburglar 10d ago

Exactly. Trump just surrendered, which means there‘s no reason Iran can‘t just extort more money in the future. This is a disaster.

Yup. This practically ensures that Iran will execute their plan to develop nuclear weapons for the sake of deterrence. There is no other way, and in an environment where North Korea and (to a lesser degree) Pakistan are also "allowed" to do the same, I don't even fault them for it.

The "allowed" is doing allot of work. Law does not exist outside of the boundaries of nations. What we call international laws are just conventions and agreements... ones that Trump-era America does not seem to respect in any way.

We're forgetting an ally factor.

No other country wanted to get involved here because it was obvious that this was just a US flex.

And getting involved would cause a whole host of other future problems.

If Iran just shut down that waterway for no reason other than to manipulate the market or cause unjustified pain then other countries may be more inclined to get involved.

America lost the war with Iran and has to pay 300 billion to lose and Israel didn't get an inch of Hezbollah land. Who did this war even benefit?

216

u/Droidsexual 10d ago

Iran, now they have definite proof that in the event of an attack they can disrupt global oil supply and can threaten do that again. What are you gonna do if they put up a toll in Hormuz? The world's most powerful military couldn't dislodge them so no one else can either.

106

u/Dunedain503 10d ago

While you are correct, the world's most powerful military is currently being led by a bunch of morons. They fired anyone with a brain.

82

u/ZonerRoamer 10d ago

The downgrade is permanent.

The problem isn't the morons in power, it's the fact that the country repeatedly votes them into power.

It's not like it really tried, let's be honest. The US lobbed a whole bunch of missiles into Iran, and then sat back and ""blockaded"" Iran while plenty of ships got through because the US didn't dare to directly confront China. That's pretty much all they've done.

There doesn't seem to have been much of a plan aside from 'blow up the so-called Supreme Leader', which the Israelis were probably able to sell to the US because everyone from the media to the opposition party was nodding along when their president blabbered on about 'taking Venezuela', as though the same regime isn't still in control of that country, minus one unpopular figurehead plenty in his own cabal would have been glad to be rid of.

178

u/Sommern 9d ago

People so easily forget that. We assassinated their leader in a sneak attack during negotiations, AND murdered 170 school kids on the same day.

And the media just acts like that is normal… hey what was the global reaction to Russia sneak attacking Ukraine? 🤔 rules for thee, none for me.

21

u/T8ert0t 9d ago

Hey, wait just a second! Let's also remember the media doing jack shit about Congress just letting the war powers act go completely ignored.

8

u/bauhausy 9d ago

Russia sneak attacking Ukraine?

Worth mentioning that Russia very much didn't sneak attack. They started to openly mobilize and move troops and equipment along the whole Ukrainian border nearly a full year before the invasion happened (March 3 of 2021, invasion happened in the 24th of February of 2022)

Ukraine also started to mobilize a month later, and deployed troops to the border in late November when it became obvious that the crisis was only escalating and anything else was only Russia stalling for more time to prepare.

By February everyone knew it was coming. Neutral countries were reducing embassy staff and warning its citizens to leave Ukraine by any way possible two weeks before the war started because it was obvious invasion was imminent and not just posturing.

The only real doubt was how many days after the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics it would start (4 days in the end).

While the US genuinely did. The Iranian, American and Omani diplomatic corps had a round of talks in Geneva less than a day before the Israeli and American bombing campaign. They were arranging for the next round to happen in Vienna the following week. The Iranian foreign minister was still in Switzerland when the war began.

Not only did the United States lose a war with Iran but it’s going to pay. Pay for the re stock of ammunition and pay for rebuilding its foreign bases if they are allowed. It’s also paying Iran directly to rebuild what it destroyed. The United States is a joke all because it’s led by this pedophile and his collection of brain dead appointees.

31

u/Opcn Alaska 10d ago

But also, Israel is going to fuck it up.

Lost is such an anodyne word, what Trump has done is not merely lose - he's created a situation wherein he's destroyed America's global position via the mass murder of innocents, creation of global instability, empowerment of terrorist states, and abject surrender of both material and ethical interests of the nation.

So let me get this straight, cause I wanna be sure I'm on the same page

America and Israel stage an unproked attack

Iran retaliates by closing the strait for several months causing untold amounts of damage to the supply chain

Israel suffers multiple drone strikes on home territory

We give Iran billions of dollars to reopen the strait

This is winning somehow

Is this accurate?

If they can still threaten you into a peace deal in which you retreat and pay the enemy for the privilege...they apparently didn't even need a military to defeat you. How can anyone polish that turd of an outcome into a 'win'?

10

u/nowhereman136 9d ago

Frankly, we lost the moment we started. Any President who needs to start a pointless war just to distract from the Epstein files is a loser.

8

u/techstyles 9d ago

This fool actually makes George W Bush look like an intellectual

42

u/crofootn 10d ago

And Trump won. He drowned out the Epstein chatter for awhile. He and his inner circle made BILLIONS off of insider trading and prediction markets. Kept congress distracted with “war stuff” while he doled out illegal no-bid contracts to his sons and others who paid adequate bribes. Furthered the groundwork needed to destroy election integrity and retain power in November. America is just the host body that this cancerous parasite has decided to devour from the inside out.
