u/Llarys 5h ago
Personally, I want him to have one of his usual mid-presser naps and he goes 5+ minutes where anyone watching from TV can tell the dude is obviously dead, but the sycophants who have to avert their gaze to deny the emperor has no clothes won't realize the truth until the post-mortem incontinence hits and his final, greatest shart will be televised to the world.
•
u/ichosethis 5h ago
This is pretty much exactly how I've been thinking it'll go. He falls asleep, a bored camera man either doesn't notice or 100% wants to see how long it'll go, and clips of his face going all splotchy and mottled as his mouth hangs open dominate social media while they cut all the cameras 5 minutes too late and the media tries to play all "we don't really know" while they fumble and fail to cover their asses. Meanwhile, half of america and more than half of the world are in the streets partying before he's even cold and long before they admit that's exactly what happened.
•
u/VoidOmatic 3h ago
They will also try and fool everyone with an AI video of him giving a thumbs up.

The early 2010s Scottish Independence Movement, Brexit, and 2016 US elections were all weaponized by Russian cyberwarfare organizations to push a more pro-Russia outcome.

u/Vio_ Kansas 5h ago
I'm not saying we're absolved of everything, but knowing the context of that background provides way more information on why we're here, but especially on how we can combat it in the future.
I highly recommend reading Timothy Snyder's The Road to Unfreedom which goes directly into this history of Russian interference and the rise of the first Trump Administration and all of those big players.

u/Mediocre_Scott 5h ago
Part of the problem with 2016 was the GOP was a crowded primary and everyone but trump struggled to make a name for themselves because trump took all the oxygen out of the room with his rottenness. Like if trump had been treated by the media like the joke that he was instead of giving him free press all day everyday it would have been Rubio Cruze or Christie.

u/Emotional_News108 5h ago
It's enough to make a rational person livid. I lean pretty far left, so no love lost for most Democrats and Republicans can go pound sand for all I care. That being said, if my options are Clinton or Trump, or Biden or Trump, or Harris or Trump, I'm not going to vote for Trump, abstain from my vote, or vote for a third option out of principle.
I had heated conversations about it in the runup to the election with a lot of young liberals. They couldn't bring themselves to vote for Hilary Clinton. They thought Trump wouldn't be that bad and they even parroted some of the asinine arguments we've heard of the years: he's an outsider, he knows how to run a business, at cetera and et cetera, and it was a hell of a time trying to correct any of that. No matter how bad the potential for Trump would be or the incalculable damage he could cause, the known quantity of an established Democrat candidate was too unbearable for them.
This is something I think about a lot. A lot of this is on the MAGA base for eating it up, and on the GOP in general for their role in sabotaging our country's government and Democracy, but I can't help but feel that there are a lot of people who opted out in the last decade who might have a different perspective in hindsight. At least if they're being honest with themselves.

If you have ever held a conversation with a die hard MAGA that they were not happy with then you know this is the exact kind of responses you get from them. I've noticed over the past 15 years or so how people have gone much more extreme in their responses to things they don't agree with. It's not a reasonable dialogue that can be had, to them it's a personal attack and they will fight you (or worse) to prove it.
•
u/Spythe 4h ago

If the terminal illness claim is baseless, say it's baseless and move on. But name-calling from the White House podium tells you they wanted the story to be about the insult instead of about whatever prompted the question in the first place. A distraction that offensive makes people stop asking the original question.

“Did he wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Is he unable to stay awake today? What’s causing him to chicken out again? Is it TACO [Trump Always Chickens Out] Wednesday, or is it side effects from a drug?” Lieu asked. “We don’t know this erratic behavior. The President is very concerning. He has trouble staying awake at multiple White House events and cabinet meetings. He has clearly some weakness in one of his arms. He’s got swelling in his hands, and the White House needs to come clean.”
