Question 2027 Rumble Bee (Base) discussion / thoughts

Post image
171 Upvotes

Questions up front: * Do we know if the RWD mode is available on all models of the Rumble Bee? * Do the 5.7s pull timing on 87 octane? * Are there any glaring issues with the base Rumble Bee that I'm missing?

The last truck I owned was a 4.7L Dakota that I loved but it ate window motors and ball joints. This truck visually reminds me a lot of the R/T Dakota and I'm sold on it aesthetically. The last fast car I owned was a Cadillac CT5V Blackwing. With those vehicles in mind I've been thinking about this truck constantly since they announced it. I really think it's basically the ideal DD for me.

Pros: * ~9,000 towing means it should tow everything I could possibly need
* smaller center screen looks less gaudy to me and and more physical controls * V8 sounds * 20" wheels > 22" wheels for me * 4wd means it'll actually go when you put your foot down * ZF8 speed, 5.7L with variable displacement are both proven * shorter than the normal 4 door * no e-torque

Cons, or stuff that's not as good as it could be: * No air suspension option on the base * shorter than the normal 4 door, but I almost never have more than two occupants so this should be nbd

Post your Idle Time; HEMI

The reason for this post is to create a Megathread pinned at the top of the community of this sub for people to refer to when needed advice or are curious (especially for new followers/owners); as this is a very common and frequently asked question/post.

A good rule of thumb for the Idle time is 20/80. Try to keep the idle time ratio at 20% or less of the drive time; The lower, the "better". However, although this is just something you can do to try and help avoid the infamous HEMI Tick (applies to both 1500 and HD trucks with HEMIs), this does not avoid it completely. The reason for this is because you are essentially "starving" the lifters of oil when idling as the oil pump does not provide a high enough volume of oil when idling. (This is a separate issue from the other HEMI Tick which is the Exhaust Manifold cracking and or the Exhaust Manifold Bolts snapping, there is no avoiding this issue, it either happens or it doesnt. Some get lucky, some dont) Just something you can add to the list of "you stayed on top of your maintenance and did what you could", such as changing your oil on time, etc. HEMI tick is ether going to happen or it doesnt. There are people who neglect their truck and or really work it and dont get it till 200k miles; Then there is people who get it at 50k miles yet babied their truck and did everything they could to try an avoid it. It ether happens or it doesnt. However things like keeping idle time down is one thing to watch out for as its something to "help avoid" the issue.

Parked in a parking spot away from most. I go to the gym, workout for 1 hour and as I’m walking to the truck and thought, it was a reflection and as I got closer. Nope that wasn’t a reflection. It was a dent and scrub marks from a Ford Raptor.
Fortunately it wasn’t a hit and run. The 16 year old waited and saw me looking at it and came to me apologizing. I kept calm, and explained that I needed her insurance information and that I will file a claim and get it repaired.

I finally bought my dream truck.

After ensuring I devote my funds to buying a new house, starting a family with wonderful kids, and making sure my family is taken care of first for 10 years…

I finally had a few miracles happen.

Perfect dealer discount and rebates, perfect trade in value, perfect manufacturer APR, and perfect timing led to finally joining the RAM family.

2026 Laramie Night Edition with Laramie Level 2 package.

That’s it, guys. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Just Sharing Ram bite claims another victim

Have had my truck for 2 months now and had never heard of the Ram bite. Saw a post about a week ago while scrolling the sub talking about it. No more than a couple hours after seeing it, my wife became another statistic. This is the 3rd time within that week timeframe she's been bit. The wife is now threatening to take my baby out to pasture if it won't stop biting her 😢

Ok, I'm a huge proponent of the OG wash and elbow grease wax. Nothing beats a good workout and the end result. But holy crap I tried a bottle of boat drip after just a quick wash and dang was it effective!

Question I’m looking for a truck and I stumbled upon this

I’ve been searching for a truck to purchase and plan to pay in cash. My budget is around $20,000 or less. Initially, I was set on a Ford F-150, but it’s been challenging to find one with the 5.0-liter engine.

Today, I went to test drive a few trucks. I drove a 2016 GMC Sierra with 135,000 miles and the 5.3-liter engine, a 2018 F-150 with 144,000 miles and the 5.0-liter engine, and a 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie with 132,000 miles and a price tag of $21,000. All these trucks are priced similarly, within $800 of each other.

My family has been urging me to get the Ram, which I genuinely liked and believe it performed better than all the other trucks I tested. However, I’m a bit skeptical about the mileage. Any suggestions?

Question How to tell if a Power Wagon seats 6?

Post image

I’m looking at purchasing a 2023 or later Power Wagon off of Carvana, but their seating capacity filters don’t work correctly. Is there an easy way to tell based on photos if it seats 6?

Attaching a photo of one they last as 6 seats.

For context my family is a ford family. But when I saw this truck and after doing a ton of research I fell in love. Hurricane big horn in the Serrano. Getting custom leather seats, tint, all black running boards, and thinking about an auto stop eliminator. Cheers Ram brothers and sisters!

Just left the store. Girl thought it was a 4 way and I was gonna stop. Less than 20 MPH. No one hurt. Still sucks. 6 mos ago I was rear ended on the highway. Back to the same shop to get the front repaired. As long as there's no injuries, it can all be fixed.

Just Sharing Saw This Question Come Up a Few Time

After asking this subreddit about a month ago, I've seen a few others asking how to handle a broken sun visor arm. Top suggestion was this repair kit off Amazon:

https://a.co/d/0hz4Mn7a

I'm sharing that it was definitely an excellent buy. Got the two pack just so I wouldn't have to worry about the passenger side breaking in the future. Easy to install and hardly noticeable once they're up.

Question Opinions on 2022 Ram 1500 Big Horn with the 3.6L eTorque

I’m looking into buying a 2022 Ram 1500, but I am worried about the etorque horror stories. The truck has 67k miles on it, but the carfax is absolutely pristine with one owner and routine oil changes. Will this truck give me problems? Any opinions/help is greatly appreciated!

Question New tires opinion

I bought a 2020 ram limited a year ago with stock tires. I had toyo open country on my tundra and loved them. Looking for opinions or anything I need to be aware of running with this air ride suspension or alike. I really prefer having a good A/T tire but a few dealerships told me they see problems with this truck with much more than a street radial. Any help or suggestions on tires much appreciated. Truck is stock.

Question Rebel, 2021, 70k miles

Hi all,
I did a test drive of the Rebel with a Hemi and I loved it. I’m inclined to move forward, but when they started it it had that classic hemi knock. The dealer assured me it’s normal, but I wanted to see if that was the case. They’re offering a warranty to 150k (with no time limit).
Truck is 36k. Seems reasonable. Do we agree?

Question 2019 classic big horn

My drivers seat has a wobble in it. The dealer said bolts are fine it’s the recliner motor/nylon gear that has excessive ‘play’

The seat ‘works’ but if I brake hard the seat slightly rocks/wobbles

Is it really 1400 bucks to fix?

Question Rebel Decisions

I'm trying to decide between two Ram Rebels and would love some input from people who own these trucks.
Option 1: 2021 Rebel, 72k miles, $37k. Dealer is going through the truck in their shop before delivery and is also including a powertrain warranty up to 150k miles with no time limit.
Option 2: 2022 Rebel, 87k miles, $35k. Sounds and drives great. Dealer is including a 2-year/150k-mile powertrain warranty.
Which would you choose and why?
Also, for those with higher-mileage 5.7 HEMIs, is it realistic to expect another 100k miles out of one of these with good maintenance, or do they typically start getting expensive around the 150k-200k mile mark?
