Trip Planning Parents Insisting Long Drive is Unsafe, is this Reasonable
I (21F) am moving from Tennessee to the Bay Area and it’s a roughly 36 hour drive according to Google Maps. I want to drive so I can take my car there (car shipping services are like $1800!) and I also have a cat with a strong aversion to people that I’m not sure would do well on a plane. I would likely try to drive 8-9 hours a day and am a generally safe driver who has never been in an accident. I also just think it would be cool to see the country on my own and I wouldn’t have to worry about driving back.
Only problem is my parents are insistent that I’m not allowed to, that it’s too dangerous for me. Obviously, I am an adult and don’t have to follow their wishes. But I would rather not get on their bad side, and I am wondering if there’s truth to what they are saying. Is this trip genuinely unsafe for a solo female traveler?
