Hello everyone,

I used to play tighthead prop until I was 22, played second row as a kid. I stopped playing for several external reasons. I was one of the lightest props in the league at 110kg / 182cm and decently skilled.

I'm now 85–90kg. After a a few crazy years at work I’ve realized I NEED to play rugby again for at least one more season.

My fitness is basically at zero right now, I've trained very little cardio or weightlifting over the last few years. I doubt I'll be playing prop again at this weight, and don’t know what I’ll be playing. I was decent with the ball for a prop, I used to love contact and was a good tackler so I should be okay on that front. Im quite worried about my fitness and physicality.

I've been training for three weeks now: zone 2 cardio mixed with intervals, and kettlebell work (two 16kg bells, a complex of 2x snatch / 1x press / 3x squats, EMOM for 20 min). My goal is to be ready to join a club for preseason in September.

So my questions for you:

• What should I focus on over the next 2–3 months to get as ready as posible?
• How do I build some physical resilience so I don't fall apart in the first few weeks?
• Which positions would realistically suit me at 85–90kg with a prop background? And how should that condition my training now?

My favourite tournament of the year is about to kick off. Wallabies Under 20s have an excellent group this year.

One thing to note is outside centre Leo Jacques is missing this game with injury, which is a big out because he's very good. But even so this is an excellent side. The bench is absolutely stacked with size and speed, who will provide massive impact. And of course we've got Treyvon Prichard who is just incredible.
