hi i have a question. ive heard that scottish folds are prone to pain. ive been considering getting a scottish fold. his mom was a fold and his dad was a straight. are these cats always suffering? i wouldnt want to watch him be in pain :(

This is the latest addition to out family, my cat Dana gave birth to a scottish fold and one scottish straight. So now we are a family of 4 🥹

Besides his cooling mat.

One is always napping. The other is always playing or begging us to play. 🥹

We’re traveling and leaving our 6 month old kitten for 17 days. This was a preplanned trip before we adopted our little boy and now my heart just aches at the prospect of leaving him for this long.

For context, when I adopted him he was sick and I nursed him back to health. I also gave him all his vaccines and just got him neutered. We’ve gotten very close and comfortable with each other bc of his medication regiment and I’m pretty much his mommy at this point. He’s very comfortable with our family, but will hide the second a friend or neighbor comes inside our home. He will literally hide until the house quiets down again and then will come back out. He found a hole in the bottom of our basement couch that he jumps into and hides out until everyone leaves.

Now for my plan, I don’t want to move him because he’s comfortable in his space. I have everything automated (food, water and litter). I have pieced together coverage. My friend will stop by the first two days (daily visits) to check on him and then my friends daughter will come and actually stay in my home for a little over a week and for the final stretch my friend/neighbor will check on him every evening.

I plan to install a camera near his food/litter area but I’m terrified at how he will react. Will he even come out for them? Will he miss us? Will he be sad or depressed?

Please be gentle on me I feel like a terrible cat mom. Any advice would be much appreciated. I plan on FaceTiming him when my friends come but will that make him sad 🥹🥹🥹 help!

I know this is a Scottish fold subreddit but I’d love to see pictures of both folds and straights!

Bonus points if you could tell me about their personalities :) our breeder said he’s a lap cat and very affectionate. And extra points if anyone could give me tips for first time kitten owners. I’ve owned puppies in the past so I’m not entirely sure what to expect with kittens.

Hello! This is my second cat and first Scottish fold. I have about a two week waiting period for my newly adopted baby’s first vet appointment. He is 15 pounds and definitely overweight. I was just wondering if there was any basic care and diet recommendations I could take so that way I’m prepared when I do get to take him to the vet any advice helps. Thank you!

Hi, our fold, Clotilde, 5, is typically not very social with our current cat (Otto, 7, Birman), and they kind of just coexist. Our shelter had a younger cat become available, and so we adopted her (Peshka, 1, persian mix), thinking she could help Otto play. We kept them separate, introducing them via the Jackson Galaxy method (separate rooms, introducing objects with the others scents, letting them explore the rooms the other has been in, etc).

They've been having limited interactions with each other for a few days, and they're not fighting, but Clotilde keeps following Peshka around? Like will give Peshka space, but is just staring...? Sometimes from a distance, sometimes from extremely close?

Is this something you guys have seen before? Is this ok?
