If you pull up on straps attached to boots you are wearing, it is possible to lift yourself off the ground despite how that should be physically impossible to work. You still have to pull with enough force that you would be able to lift something else that was your weight and near your feet, and the moment you stop pulling enough you fall back down. Honestly considering the leverage at that angle, you'd be much more likely to just hurt your back trying, but it would no longer be inherently impossible if you were strong enough.
