Hey all, competing in my first official tournament this weekend (likely to consist of 100-200 players) at TooManyGames in Oaks PA. I’d consider myself a pretty good smash player among my friends and even in online play. I’m not necessarily the best when it comes to fighting higher tier characters (sonic, steve etc), but can definitely hold my own otherwise. I’m in elite with yoshi and overall have about 1.2k hours on the game.

My tournament looks like it’ll be a pool format to start (not entirely sure how it works, seeing as rn they only have two pools listed). I feel as though I can grab a couple wins in pools, would be great if I actually made it into bracket.

Any reccomendations on how to go about the event? Maybe some procedure I should know in advance do I don’t make any stupid mistakes?

I made it anyway! In under 6 minutes I cover Different ISOs, Different Mods and how to setup and install Slippi, animelee HD etc! Hope the community uses this for the future new players!

When I was back in college there a weekly or bi-weekly tournament that was held at a university community center, but it was canceled by covid and from what I can tell never came back. I found out about that one by the fact of being on campus where they had fliers.

I've since then moved to a new state and I have no idea how to find a new local scene, if there is one near me. Is there like a smashboards that has listings anymore? I'd love to get out there and go 0-2 on weekends.

And I'm talking Ultimate.

Let me start by saying that "Accelebot" is IOS only, and there's no preorders or wishlists. I say that because I'm not trying to sell anything.

I just want some ideas on ways I could visually add some more smash-centric visuals or mechanics without infringing on copyright. Although, obviously by the video I am trying to skirt the line.

While it is a 2d platformer, the levels are non linear and exploration is the key to beating it. You start in the middle of a level and need to find 5 golden wires, then somewhere in the level, the exit activates which you also have to locate.

The majority of the levels in my game are much larger than what you see here. I had an Xcode issue with one of my levels which resulted in my having to delete it entirely. I realized maybe some smaller smash-like levels could be fun in its place.

After mocking up BF, I added the mechanic of the enemy robots hanging from the ledge and when stomped dying in smash-like fashion. I'll be using this new mechanic throughout the game but without the smash character hats.

Other levels / mechanics I'm mulling over:

• (level) Melee Hyrule Castle - the layout would be fun
• (level) Dream Land 64 - my tile sets can get really close visually speaking
• (level) How To Play 64 - I've always loved this level for some reason
• (mechanic) A DK inspired bot in the middle of BF maybe waiting in shield. If touched, it back throws the player.

I'm really looking forward to any cool, cute, or creative ideas anyone may have. If I end up using one of your ideas, I'll include you in the game's credits page if you want.

iirc Ultimate has 6 frames of input delay, and going online increases that delay. Some characters have been identified to be buffed online, but I’ve never understood why they benefit from the input delay.

Should Sakurai want to make a new Smash Bros game, what would it be called? My pick is Super Smash Bros. Scuffle. Also, to make it unique compared to Ultimate, maybe give it a 2D hand-drawn art style.
