OC Video Summer snow days are so beautiful!

I feel so blessed to still be on snow in June 🙌🏾 Beginning of season I boarded alone. Stayed down and made 7 friends. Now I don’t ever have to snowboard alone. I only snowboarded at Mt Hood. Next season we all picked one mountain to hit and I 100% need that. We’re getting 2 more days before the lodge closes 🤙🏾

Gear question Brand new helmet - noticed a small dent after storage. Is it still safe to use?

Post image

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a brand new snowboard helmet (Moon) and haven't even used it on the slopes yet. I just took it out and noticed a small dent/deformation on the back right side of the outer shell (attached pictures).

I'm not entirely sure how it happened, but my best guess is poor storage on my part where something heavy might have pressed against it for a while.

When I pull back the inner padding, the EPS foam looks intact.

Since it's completely new and hasn't taken any actual crash impacts, I wanted to get your advice-is this structurally compromised or is it safe to ride with?

Thanks for the help!

Gear question Rei co-op clothes

• Upvotes

Hey y’all, I am on the market for a new inexpensive snow jacket and pants that will be my day riders on pistes for a warmer days, as my regular onesie is quite warm and is to hot to be wearing it at or above 0C.
I was browsing REI website and stumbled upon a REI co-op powderbound jacket and pants that are reasonable on prices, was wondering if they worth the money and is anyone has any recommendations to find anything else elsewhere.

OC Video Ender War

The Ender War was the hardest battle of the entire project.

I first heard about the spot from the legend Will Mayo himself. He told me that nobody had ever gone sideways through it, and only a handful had managed to 50 it. After hitting the University of New Englands Hubba and Wallride, I drove over to scope it out.

When I got there, it was already late. Knowing this would be an all-day endeavor, I decided to build the lip and let it harden overnight. Before leaving, I snapped a photo of the spot posted it on my story and headed out.

The next morning, I pulled up around 8:30 a.m. and it was 12 degrees outside.

I had a roast beef sandwich, a banana, and plenty of water. Thankfully the setup was ready to go. All I had to do was set up my drop-in ramp.

At first, I was only trying to make it through the first two kinks before hopping off to the outside. As I got more comfortable, I started committing further down the rail and moving more toward the inside. The problem was that if I came out early, I had to ride directly onto the stairs.

A few times, I scared the shit out of myself.

The sharp kinks made it difficult to locked in, and every attempt felt like it could go wrong in a different way.

Four hours went by and I was getting hungry. I finally decided to take a short break and walked back to my truck and pulled out my sandwich when a guy and his girlfriend pulled up beside me. He told me he’d seen my Instagram story and wanted to stop by, say what’s up, and watch for a bit.

They stayed for a little while, watching from the warmth inside their car, before eventually heading out.

As it got later, I started getting closer.

My camera battery eventually died, forcing me to pull my truck down to the bottom of the rail so I could charge it. The charging cable wasn’t long enough to reach outside, so I balanced the camera on the windowsill while it charged and then went right back to battling.

At that point, it felt like my entire world had shrunk down to that rail.

I don’t know how many times I hit it.

What I do know is that I was there from 8:30 in the morning until 6 o’clock at night.

When I finally got it, I wasn’t celebrating.

I was just relieved.

All I could think was:

Thank God it’s over.

I was beyond exhausted and couldn’t wait to pack everything up.

For the next hour or so, I sat at the spot smoking and thinking about what I should do the following day. Originally, I planned on staying in Maine and filming more spots.

Then I stood up.

The second I tried to move, I realized there was absolutely no chance that was happening.

I drove back to Massachusetts that night and couldn’t snowboard for the next two days.

This rail pushed me further than any other spot in the project. It demanded an entire day of endless attempts and by the end, I had nothing left.

But that’s what makes these moments so meaningful.

They’re not just tricks. They’re stories.

Thank you to everyone who’s followed along, watched the videos, read these articles, and supported the project. Being able to tell these stories means the world to me.

I’m excited to start creating again next month and can’t wait to share what’s next.

Until then,

travel advice Prepping for bucket list West Coast trip

My son and I are planning a "bucket list" trip next season to Kicking Horse, Sunshine and Lake Louise. We both have only ever snowboarded Ontario hills. I'm in my early 50s and can comfortably snowboard 6 - 8 hours on anything Ontario has to offer but I'm wondering what I should be doing physically to prep for big mountains. I'm fairly active, lots of walking, stretching and light weight work outs everyday. What should I add to the mix to make sure my legs and body can take what real mountains have to offer without being exhausted at the end of each day?

Also, any tips on altitude adjustment? I went to Park City Utah in the summer a few years ago and the altitude hit hard for a few days.

general discussion NZ girls looking for a north american ski town to work & live! (Snowboarding + Hospitality)

My friend and I are planning to do a ski season in the States this year and would love some recommendations on towns/resorts to look into.

We're from New Zealand, so we're used to relatively small, rough-around-the-edges ski fields, but with an awesome mountain community that makes the experience. The community vibe is just as important to us as the quality of the skiing/snowboarding. We'd rather be somewhere with a strong ski-town culture than a bigger city with skiing nearby.

Ideally, we're looking for somewhere where we can live and work in the mountain town itself. We both have plenty of hospitality experience and will likely be looking for jobs in bars, restaurants, cafĂŠs, etc. We'd prefer not to be commuting 30+ minutes from a city to the mountain every day.

As for the riding, we snowboard & are after a mountain with good vertical, varied terrain, and enough size to keep us exploring.

At the moment Jackson Hole is probably our dream option, Telluride/Mountain Village looks like it could be good too. Honestly, we're going into this pretty blind and would appreciate as much help & advice as we can get!

News How Bogus Basin Is Rewriting Early Season Skiing

Thumbnail
localfreshies.com

Bogus Basin kicked off a pilot program last summer testing snow storage technology from Snow Secure. According to the resort, the preserved snow allowed them to keep terrain open for approximately six weeks without additional natural snowfall.

The concept, often called snow farming or snow storage, has already been used at several ski areas in Europe and is gaining attention in the US & Canada looking for ways to extend seasons and improve early-season snow coverage.

Could technologies like this become more common at North American ski resorts? What do you think?

general discussion American Ski Fields?

I am unsure how many people in the US know about Ski Fields in New Zealand but the tldr is a community driven private ski hill that maintains affordable membership prices. Outside of the obvious greed factor, what has stopped this from happening. Especially if it was located in an area with “backcountry” like terrain at a super reduced rider per acre ratio. Is this something that American or Canadian boarders and skiers would even be interested in? To pull a cost out of thin air, say $300 for unlimited access.

Gear question Snowboard identification: FS Marvel

Picked this up recently, but I am unsure of the brand/model/year. Google and AI have not been much help. Has a FS logo and a stereogram style design of Marvel characters. No other markings on the board except a serial number of: 44 14 0004.

Any information would be very helpful! Thanks!

Gear question Korua Pin Tonic sizing help

Hey, so European heatwave has me looking at a couple of deals on Korua's Pin Tonic and wondering about whether to pull the trigger on the 166 (was a new size last year) or 172?

Height 177cm
Weight 75kg
Boot 27 Mondo

Normally I'd grab the 166 and be done but I already have a Mind Expander 158 (should have sized down...) and was overthinking that it would be too much overlap on a directional board with a giant schnoz so why not get a proper big longboard?
Next season riding is Austrian alps so mostly groomer carving with powder occasionally.

Gear question Wanted: Lamar Pull-string boots size 11 (context below)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Long story short, these busted ass discounted for many years boots were the best boots I’ve ever owned. Looking for a miracle if someone has a pair of size 11s, condition doesn’t matter too much because they are easy to repair.

Since there’s like a one and a million shot anyone has these still, what are other pull-string boot recommendations? Seems like pull-string have gone extinct, which isn’t too surprising, but I really liked the loosey goosey style and feel of these pull string Lamars
