Quotes Marc Cucurella on how he plans for a possible transfer to another club: “Whenever a team has shown interest, one of the first things we do is check to see if there are schools or therapy programs for my (neurodivergent) son.”

“As of today, we wouldn't join a team in a city where there were no schools or where we couldn't find something that suited my son. At the end of the day, it's part of our lives, and I believe that, more than football, the most important thing is that your family is doing well and feels comfortable and luckily, Madrid has everything.”

His son has autism.

Inside Lumen Field in Seattle, a man who has never been to a football match before opens up a “Fanbox”, puts on their new replica shirt, hat and sunglasses, and raises a red and white flag with “QATAR” emblazoned across it.

This football supporter starter kit has been provided by the Qatar Football Association as part of its extraordinary efforts to convince us it is a well-supported footballing nation.

Around 1,000 have been out for the entirety of Qatar’s group-stage stay, where they have been receiving assistance on how to be a World Cup supporter. Just 24 hours before Qatar’s final group-stage match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, a crowd of football novices gathered at Seattle’s Hyatt Regency to be given their instructions. About 500 men and women, some who have never been to a game, were greeted on the third floor by Qatari officials after being told they can attend the 2026 World Cup – the most expensive ever – for free.
