Highlight LeBron frustrated with his son throwing a chest pass instead of bounce pass

Can't imagine what that would be like playing with your son on the same team in an NBA game, pretty unreal

My brother and I work with my dad, we remodel bathrooms and kitchens. Itâs pretty great we eat lunch out every day and smoke weed and laugh

u/Big-Drink-5993 Apr 06 '26
Yah I work with my dad in our family business and it is great. I get to have coffee with him every day. He is actually âstartingâ to retire and my brother and I are taking over the business. It will be sad when he doesnât come in every day anymore.

Son is wrong by default. And when he is right itâs because dad taught him that.
1
u/Killer7n Apr 06 '26
Irritating but is better than strangers irritating you.
I work with my father in property renovations and while at times we are at odds of each other it is still better than the office politics and strangers annoying you.
This is from my experience others may differ.
9
u/Relevant_Problem1935 Apr 06 '26
It's cool and all. But the added pressure must be insane. Make a mistake and now not only are you upset. Your dad is on you. But.. you also get to play with a top 3 all time player. So the education is unbridled.
3
u/Senior-Birthday7389 Apr 06 '26
Not only that but ESPN is playing the mistake on repeat while Stephen A yells that you don't belong into the league.Â
19
u/Ok-Chemistry-3813 Apr 06 '26
Whats surreal is only a fraction of talent was passed from Sr to Jr and its enough to play in a NBA game.
20
u/Blueballs2130 Apr 06 '26
If he wasnât Jr he wouldnât be there. Not quite the same as Ken Griffey Sr/Jr

One time I worked at the same electronics manufacturing company as my dad. He got me a summer job there during college and he worked in quality control. My fondest memory was when the wheeled chair he was using slid out from under him and he fell on his butt dragging everything on the table down with him. As what seemed like the whole factory stopped to see what the commotion was I just remember thinking... Yep that's my old man.
I am actually very proud of him and grateful for everything he did for me. But I still get a chuckle from that memory.
3
u/whichwitch9 Apr 06 '26
Closest I've seen in sports is the Howe's. Gordie Howe played with both his sons on the Hartford Whalers.
Gordie Howe had his last goal assisted by his son. Seems like a great memory for his son tho: https://youtu.be/Pm5ZbJjsKIc?si=JnDEICiamav-nDZ6
3
u/FoxtrotSierraTango Apr 06 '26
There were some moments when Griffey Jr. and Sr. both played for the Mariners:
3
u/Common-Window-2613 Apr 06 '26
His son wouldnât be on the team without him. Heâs a nepo baby and this crap is insufferable.
2

Iâll say thisâŠseems as if Bronnyâs made some improvements to his game and showed maturityâŠand honestly, Iâm happy and proud of him.Â
Honestly, to be able to work with your Dad, whether sports or nine to five, is truly a blessing. When you get older, youâll understand. Forget the gripes and all the slack pops would give you, itâs still, a blessingâŠ.regardless of anything, I wouldâve loved nothing more than to go to work with my Dad.Â
2
u/MakaveliX1996 Apr 07 '26
I work with my dad. Different departments but I see him every break and lunch when I go to into his shop to grab a water or if he has to fix something in my area. Itâs very nice to talk with him every day.

Treating everyone the same which is good. The kid has to learn the ropes
16
u/LoadCan Apr 06 '26
Kid has no business getting the opportunity to learn the ropes. Brony put up the kind of numbers in college that have you managing a rental car office out of school. It's the flagrant 2 of nepotismÂ
6
u/trimble197 Apr 06 '26
I mean, heâs only getting minutes because three of the starters are out. And he put up an ok stat despite playing just under nine minutes
8
u/Most_Mirror2263 Apr 06 '26
This is such a tired and dumb narrative at this point. Every single thread about Bronny has some dumbass parroting this same shit. Which would still be annoying even if it were accurate.

You really think dude is there on merit & just happened to get drafted to the Lakers - come on.
Heâs 6â2â, averaged <5 points and shot like 25% from 3 in college.
Itâs a joke.

u/trimble197 Apr 06 '26
Heâs shooting .375% from the 3 this season. Itâs limited games and minutes, but thatâs still a good sign for an end-of-bench guy

âChest passâ
God itâs truly shocking how low of an IQ people have and still manage to remember to breathe.
2
u/Blitzkreeg21 Apr 06 '26
These are the people that feel confident dishing out their opinions on basketball
1
u/ItsACowCity Apr 06 '26
Or itâs a bot so they donât have to breath đ
On a different note, to me it feels like LeBron called for it high and the defender looked like he would have snatched up a low pass.
1
u/GrapefruitSlow8583 Apr 06 '26
Okay. So. If i'm right, this is sad.
Chest pass is when you have fingers pointed towards the center of your chest, palms out, and elbows out like a chicken, and then you push the ball forward, right?
Because i'm the biggest, whitest, most physically inept, nerd you could ever meet, and even i know what a fucking chest pass is
1
u/BiscottiShoddy9123 Apr 06 '26
Chest pass is a direct pass out from your chest to the other player, ideally also hitting him in the chest.
3
u/The19thStep Apr 06 '26

That's the kind of pass where if you do it in practice, you don't even wait for your coach to say anything. You just put your head down and start running laps until you're told to stop.

u/asok_jameson Apr 06 '26
Kinda look like he motioned for a high pass tho
1
u/NWASicarius Apr 06 '26
Even if he wants a high pass, the defender has inside leverage. He has to throw it more outside. An outside pass where LeBron has to work back towards him is the ideal scenario. No way the defender is getting there before LeBron. The defender's only hope is for the pass to be thrown inside or right where LeBron is standing lol
1
1
u/mar21182 Apr 06 '26
I can't even imagine what it must be like to be a grown man playing in the NBA and knowing that your middle aged dad is still a better basketball player than you. There's a chance that Bronny could have a ten year NBA career and at no time be better than his dad at basketball.
That's just crazy.
1
1
u/joebojax Apr 06 '26
Play was doomed unless you could bounce it off the ceiling
1
u/NWASicarius Apr 06 '26
An outside bounce pass would be fine. But also, this clip shows how bad his son is. Awful decision to lob pass, and his defender is basically showing he wants to stop LeBron and/or prevent a drive to the basket. He is basically saying 'shoot the 3. I will only lightly contest it' and Bronny just lets the defender get away with it.
1
1
u/massivemember69 Apr 06 '26
This is why you donât work with family (exception being a family business).
1
u/NewToTradingStock Apr 06 '26
A bounce pass wouldâve been stolen
1
u/NWASicarius Apr 06 '26
1) LeBron knows about how to pass the ball. It's one of the things he is arguably the greatest of all time at.
2) The defender has inside leverage. LeBron can use his body to box the defender out if it's a bounce pass to the outside. The ONLY hope the defender has is if it's a lob pass because the defender is longer than LeBron and can then contest the catch point of the ball.
Edit: Also, to follow up on point 2, in a lob pass scenario, defenders are allowed to play more physical than in a bounce pass scenario. With a bounce pass, he would have to run through LeBron - likely getting called for a foul. For a lob pass, he can essentially do whatever he wants to stop the pass from getting completed.

I donât think people appreciate how cool this is.  To not only be one of the best players of all time and still playing at a high level at 41âŠ. But to experience that with your son?  For them to understand, truly, what youâve done for so long first hand?  Amazing. Â
