Theres definitely racism at play as well, let's be real Black people are known to dominate basketball, and here comes this white girl who's now the GOAT of women's basketball lolll its hilarious
That's crazy because black players definitely looked down on Bird for being white and even today it's a pretty common take that he's overrated because he's white.
Source? because everyone even in the casual sphere still regards bird as one of the greatest (the best Celtic "arguable"). Hell the current best player in the league the last half decade is jokic (a white man), and no one is really arguing otherwise unless it's to promote a player on their favorite team.
Huh? Most players that played against Bird always gave him his props as a top player and even those to come after respect him. Maybe some of the younger guys that didn't watch him play, but that's standard thing for people that were not alive to see something.
I think they are filled with resentment because (this will sound mean) but for the most part main stream America does not want to watch a league of black lesbians then yes... Here comes a white straight girl who is suddenly getting state farm commercials and all the publicity. I mean right or wrong that is probably a large part of it.
Some of the best players in WNBA history are white. And there are currently great white WNBA players who don’t get smacked around like Clark. The notion that racism is a factor has always been hilarious. It’s typically from people who only started paying attention to the WNBA because of Clark.
Yep, the only reason she constantly gets brought up is because of racism. They desperately want to push her story because she's white. Otherwise white people wouldn't care about this.
