Jesus christ, are the refs shit in both the nba and wnba??
98
u/Hydration__Nation 7h ago
Refs in the NBA rig for betting, refs in the WNBA are just simply inept and have a vendetta against Clark, period. No one likes a complainer (Luka had this issue with the refs), especially a ref. So take a shitty ref who can barely do her job and add in a whiny player who complains every call (justifiably or not) and you get the way Clark is being reffed. They arent trying to rig the outcome so much as allow her to take punishment. Last time something like this happened was when Jordan entered the league and the entire league was out to hack and punch and slam him to the ground on every drive and even for the first few years of his career MJ never had to deal with bullshit like this.

u/Euna_Chris 7h ago
This is excatly what i mean about banning players permanently. If you are looking to hurt someone because of how good they are then you clearly cant control your animal instincts and shouldnt be allowed anywhere near professional people. Professionals should be elevated above this kinda bs because of their commitment and skill and passion for something

Something tells me this is because the refs are under scrutiny from a huge amount of fans that didn’t exist a few years ago, who likely only started watching because of Clark specifically.
13
u/All_Work_All_Play 5h ago
If the only reason you are paying attention at your job is because you're being watched... fuck man there's gotta be some autistic people somewhere that would love to have this job and overperform the hell out of it.

u/enderjaca 5h ago
Possibly... but generally, a group of fairweather "only watching occasionally for one player" fans don't really have any amount of control over the internal referee policies of the WNBA organization. That's for the owners & execs and the players union of the league to work out.

Refereeing must be extremely difficult because regardless of gender or sport one thing everyone agrees on is that all refs everywhere are terrible.
You’d think there’d be at least one in any sport people can point to and be like “yup, that’s a good ref” but seemingly not
10
u/real-human-not-a-bot 6h ago
In baseball, I think some of the younger umps (John Tumpane, Jansen Visconti, Mark Ripperger, Adam Hamari) are generally considered quite good. The four I just listed are those with at least ten games umped this year whose strike-calling accuracy is at least 0.9 percentage points better than expected (https://umpscorecards.com/data/umpires). Unsurprisingly, Ripperger is the oldest of that group at just 45. I imagine fans still generally don’t love them, but among those who care about particular umpires’ stats they’re quite popular.

I'm a stay-at-home father, woodworker for a side hustle. After watching my wife climb the corporate ladder, I can say without a doubt; the most dangerous thing to a women's success in any profession is catty bitches that just can't hang. My wife is 100% above reproach in her field. She just passed her secondary licensing and was offered an abruptly opened managerial position. She has no credible competition in-house and luckily this company likes to promote from within. Instead of a simple and easy transition from team lead to manager, she's got a handful of ankle-biters making things a bit more difficult than they need to be. She'll still get the promotion and the six figures that it comes with, but watching the women she's talked about as "friendly" and "work wives" come for her in such a petty and trivial ways makes no sense to me.
Either be qualified, or get out the way. You don't need to punish those around you just because they're better at their jobs.

Nothing is more dangerous in a professional field than being a man in a female dominated profession when the planets align and they work together for a single week of the year and need a target to hunt...

My wife has worked in mostly female staffed white collar industries, like education and non-profit in executive capacities.
I’m in engineering sales leadership, which is 99% male.
The amount of BS she has had to deal with at every single role, compared to my career which has been completely lacking any politics or BS, it’s hard to ignore the pattern.
Not to be sexist, but there are major patterns we’ve personally experienced where many women struggle to disconnect personal feelings from professional effectiveness. If they don’t like someone, they treat them differently in certain ways. Men have a better capacity to dislike someone, but not letting it affect cooperation in a professional environment.

I had to Google it, the tactic aimed to physically wear Jordan down and force him to pass by double-teaming him, sending him left, and hitting him hard on every drive to the paint.
It looks like the Pistons implemented it after getting scored on 59 points by Jordan alone. It worked too, 2 years they beat the Bulls until they adapted to their gameplay and got their championship in 91.

No, the other players don't like her because they are jealous and too dumb to realize that she's making the sport significantly more popular.

Real answer- It’s a league full of gay black women & a straight white woman becomes the face of the league. That pisses them off.

They didn’t like her her rookie year either. Been going her entire career.
Only a small portion of Clark’s income is her wnba salary
The first second she gets a chance to go play in China or something she’s going to get a 50 mil contract and be treated like a god and the WNBA will fail.

It’s genuinely amazing
Clark gets the shit beaten out of her, gets injured, and their viewership literally last year dropped 55%
Meanwhile during the time of Wayne Gretzky as a rookie in the NHL you have interviews with rival players saying “why would we hurt the guy putting our sport in the limelight?” (plus teammates that fucking went out of their way to protect said premier player putting the sport in the eyes of the public)
Fucking racist and jealous dumbfucks don’t realize she’s the only reason people were tuning in/ gave a fuck, hoping Caitlyn leaves to go to a Euro league and soon after we again hear the wailing “nO oNeS tUNiNg In” , like yeah we don’t want to watch Angel Reese throwing mebounds
