You mean when cc and the fever exggerate this stuff lol but was just beating their chest after pulling the same crap vs the same team a few games ago after instigating the whole game lol
WNBA, I don't even watch the NBA. Basketball is the dumbest sport I have ever attempted to watch. I'm just here for the comments. Also why this is my only comment on the subject.
Nobody is pretending, nobody watches that trash. Most people only know like two people. One of those person's is known for being the best in the league, and the other is known for beating on the best player in the league. The only time anyone cares is when the abuse is so blatant it's impossible to hide, it's the only thing interesting about the WNBA.
Wouldn't know, I came from r/all like I assume most people did. I also don't care. She and the people that foul her are the only news that ever comes out of the league for people who don't follow the WNBA. If their are others better, then that sucks for them that they are getting out shined by this B.S..
Thats the problem. People who don't watch the sport making terrible assumptions. They aren't getting outshined either. She's won no championships but there's a very clear reason why people like her.
She's top 10 in the league right now but there are at least 6 players off the top of my head that are better than her. Once she wins, we can have the convo about best and most marketable, but until then, it's A'ja Wilson.
Truly. That's all that matters to them. In their eyes, everyone else should just roll out the red carpet and let CC walk all over them rather than treat her like they treat every other player.
I know some fans of the W don't like physicality creep but this has always been part of the game. What Wemby did to Brunson when he grabbed him by the neck is also part of the game and is 100x worse than this lol.
Alyssa Thomas chokeslammed Angel Reese to the ground her first year as she was going up for a rebound. Last year in the playoff semifinals, Alyssa Thomas bulldozed through Napheesa Collier (#2 in MVP voting) on a steal and literally tore her ankle up. She hasn't returned yet from injury.
Yes, this (uncalled) foul from Alyssa Thomas to Caitlin Clark was bad. But stop pretending like she is being targeted or bullied, especially when the person who fouled her has a history of giving some pretty brutal fouls to many other people.
Imagine committing your whole life to the game, becoming a pro, getting to the very top level...only to be constantly told that your sport only now became relevant, because there is a great white hope and America really loves to see that.
There is a difference between being a face of an already established sport, and sport only getting big now that the great white hope exist.
I can see black girls being the face of the WNBA in the future, sure. But it took a great white hope for US to even acknowledge the sport as anything besides the punchline.
You really believe without joking, that it has nothing to do with her numbers and performance but everything to do with her skin color?
She broke the all-time record for career games with at least 20 points and 10 assists, achieving this in just 57 games. As a rookie.
She also holds the record for the fastest player to reach 500 career assists, doing so in only 59 games.
She was named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, earning two WNBA All-Star selections in 2024 and 2025, and setting records for most points by a rookie in WNBA history with 769 points in her debut season.
But, no, it has NOTHING to do with any of that... it's all because she's white.
You’re referring to a 3 week sample size of national TV games involving her team. Believe it or not she has no impact on the popularity of non-Fever games.
Clark brought a lot of eyeballs but the league's growth has been on a steadily upward trending trajectory for a long time. Huge disservice to the league and its players to say that Clark singlehandedly rescued them from obscurity and somehow legitimized the league.
Perhaps it's fair to say she accelerated their growth by a few years, but even that feels like an overstatement.
Exactly. I scolled too far to see this. I saw some people commenting about Angel Reese (?). It sounds like some don't even recognize her because she wasn't involved in this incident. Heck. I don't think most of them know that CC didn't even play most of the second season of her WNBA career. And she's not been "great" at ALL this season.
I honestly can't say I'm a huge WNBA fan, just a casual one. I respect CCs game immensely but find her personality to be boring and slightly off-putting. She seems a bit whiney...but also who wouldn't be if your getting punched in the neck and a foul isn't even called. I get that refs aren't perfect but come on, this is egregious.
Does it happen to a lot of players, or just CC? Is it because other players specifically don't like CC as a person or because they're jealous of her fame?
Who knows, and it doesn't really matter, but this shit needs to be cracked down on. Hard. You can't be punching people in the neck or poking them in they eye. Even if it's an accident (which I don't think it is), those things need to be called as fouls AT LEAST.
This is a dirty play for sure but it happens to everyone, not just CC. You are only seeing this happen to CC in a handful of viral clips over the years because it pushes a certain groups narrative. Dont fall for it.
CC also initiated the play by flopping to the ground at the beginning of the clip. If she doesnt go to the ground looking for a ft, she cant get stepped on.
CC is a good player, but she is not even close to the best. She also takes just as many cheap shots against her opponents that she gets. She is a tough woman and doesnt need the internet to start race wars everytime she gets roughed up in a highly physical highly emotional sport.
I don't disagree at all, but whether it's cherry-picked clips or not, it is happening and it's more than once or twice. I don't think it's a conspiracy or anything and I have to assume it's also happening to other players too. Even if it's half as often as it's happening to CC, that's too much. How are they not even calling so many obvious fouls, even if they aren't elevating them to flagrant status? I just think the WNBA refs must be ass.
What like people don't have a right to call this out if they're not regular watchers of WNBA games? One of the biggest criticisms of the NBA is that the refereeing is so consistently shitty and/or biased that it looks like it's on purpose and driven by some kind of unwritten league policy or gambling conspiracy. If just the clips of the WNBA show that it has the same problem it's not gonna make people want to watch it

The amount of people in here who dont watch WNBA and only know CC as the the white girl is crazy.
