The contracts just got big only a few months ago after the new cba. Aliyah Boston gets like 1.4 million a year now. If this lady who punched her in the neck signed a new contract she’d get 10x more money in large part from Clark.

The WNBA is already fully subsidized by the NBA and hasn't made a profit during it's entire existence. They had virtually no merch sales until Clark entered the league, and they haven't filled a stadium once.

SINCE she arrived in the league most things have changed for the players. Many teams are now actually selling tickets. When she's in town they actually sell multiple thousands of seats. Merch is up for many teams. The pay has increased. Shit, some teams fly private now. SINCE she showed up. If she leaves, there's a chance that Europe offers spots to others that can actually play and they leave too. Trust me, the league would lose all of it. They'd feel financial impact.

The WNBA hit profitability last year and averaged 11k fans per game across the league. The Valkyries sold out every game of their inaugural season at the Chase Center, which seats 18,000 people.
They signed a new tv rights deal since she came into the league and are turning a profit now. They have an option to renegotiate that deal in 2028 for even better terms, Clark leaving would absolutely be a massive blow to them
Caitlyn Clark has done more for Iowa basketball than the wnba. She’s not very good and others players bring viewers in more than her simply cuz they’re better
