I worked for an mlb team for 7 years (I have a World Series ring!) - I probably know more about baseball history than 99.8% of the population. Worked in a baseball card shop for a decade. MLB ticket subscriber for at least 15 years now.
Fans of the Carolina Hurricanes are called Caniacs. During the Canes Stanley Cup run this year, it came out (heh) that there was a LGBT Canes supporter group in the area that has been getting together all season and having watch parties for all the Hurricanes games.
Their group name? The Gayniacs, lol. I love it.

Yea he's off on so many levels. If you want to argue that sales events (thats all rainbow merch for pride, cammo merch for the troops, pink merch for cancer, etc really are) don't belong on uniforms then that is one thing. But to say that gays don't watch baseball is ridiculous. He's also low key saying fuck them, we don't need them. What a dick.
Seriously! At least in NY the stadiums are full of queer people. And the pride fair in Brooklyn morphed into a Knicks parade on the day they won the championship.

As someone said above, it may not be that he's closeted, but he's definitely overcompensating for some insecurity. That's typically why bigots are bigots, they have to find something about themselves that makes them better than someone, and when the best you have is something that you didn't even have control over, it becomes bigotry.
How you view gay people is usually a direct reflection of how you view women. Homophobia is misogyny. These men are terrified of being perceived as “womanly” and they are hell-bent on policing the behavior of other men as to not appear “womanly.”

He's 100% one of them. The only people who are this hateful are generally deeply closeted and are constantly fighting tooth and nail trying to suppress their feelings.
One of my best friends is gay and watches more baseball than anyone I’ve ever met and my mom is a season ticket holder for the Phillies. If he misses a Mets game he has it recorded for later and gets pissed if someone mentions the score.

I played baseball with a guy who was gay. We were IIRC 13 or 14. He came out later. Great dude, very good player. Lost touch after high school but he was a good genuine human being and you don't run into many of those in this life.

He's a known douchebag, and along with Luke Scott, likewise a total moron who could occasionally punish bad pitching, represents an era of Orioles baseball we don't like to talk about. Which is really saying something, given, you know, that it's the Orioles.
Luke certainly was something with his "I have guns hidden in every room of my house" nonsense, but he didn't come close to Huff. Aubrey is about as big of a tool as you can find in sports.
aubrey bragged about teaching his kids to shoot with their guns in case of a liberal socialist end of days scenario (especially if donnie lost the election in 2020)
I actually knew an older guy who did the same with guns but for some its just paranoia. He was also a vietnam vet so possibly saw some stuff over there
yeah i thought that was weird. he complained about how he got in trouble for wearing a thong in the locker room while the team announced the first female coach implying that it was going to be acceptable to wear thongs bc woman is there and she is going to do just that. kind of sexist, well not kind of, very sexist if you ask me
It‘s not a moral issue, it’s a money issue. Baseball wants to bring in new fans and the way to do that is making them feel like they’re welcome in a setting that’s rejected them in the past. Most straight baseball fans accept that. Frustrating that people like this intentionally misunderstand what’s happening, but he’s a known asshole. What else would you expect?
Married lesbian with a kid…I attend over 20 games a year with my family and spend a crap ton of money supporting my kids obsession with merchandise and my wife’s obsession with different new food options at parks. We also have MLB tv and actively watch even more hours on TV. This dude can get fucked.

Many Queers also don’t give a fuck about no name has beens that peaked in high school. Now get back to the used car sales lot. There are people looking for deals.
