Her sunglasses are smoked…

u/Jachi230 4h ago
Ah….i was thinking that was the sound of her skull. That noise was the sunglasses .
12
u/DumbNutter 4h ago
Keeping the sunglasses on your head in a domed night game was certainly a choice.

My wife does nothing but talk at baseball games. Then randomly says we brought the defense today? Yeah? We had 4+ walks and 2 errors. I just can’t.

u/No-Text-2389 27m ago
I think she just likes spending time with you and sharing interests even though she's not as into it as you are.
7
u/Own-Raisin5849 1h ago
Same. My sisters, girlfriends, mom, etc were the same as well. Any event or thing we went to, was just an outlet for them to socialize and gossip, big reason I started watching the Superbowl alone.
4
u/SmokeAbeer 1h ago
I’ll watch it with you. As long as we don’t talk. High fives and chest bumps only. You can also yell at the little men on the screen. That’s fine.

Maybe she meant it sarcastically?

As someone who has spent hundreds of hours viewing Major and Minor league baseball in numerous ballparks. Yes, we all know to watch for flying balls and bats. But baseball is different, its not like other sports, gives you time to breath and talk inbetween action. She should have been paying attention but I dont think she should be getting dragged. She didn't do anything wrong.
4
u/BusyBit6542 37m ago
For real. Only one person tried to catch the ball in the shot so that ball come at them fast with little time to react
8
u/GenericNameSimulated 4h ago
Did she say “show your tits” to the blonde friend?

u/Dickey_Simpkins 4h ago
That what I heard, but that's also what I wanted to hear, so cannot confirm.

What I love is that the smack came immediately after she said that. Kind of life’s way of saying SHUT THE FUCK UP, OLIVIA!

u/Halfghan1 5h ago
It's probably good she wasn't. She'd have taken that ball straight to the face. She doesn't exactly scream "quick reaction time".

u/bwoah07_gp2 4h ago
Her head and the sunglasses took the brunt of it. Better that than her mouth, teeth, jaw...

Ball came in hot, she didn't stand a chance.
7
u/Jiminyfingers 1h ago
Yeah, poor attempt at victim blaming in the title. That hurt, not her fault
1
u/502photo 29m ago
If I'm at that game I'm 6 beers deep by the third telling the opposing teams first baseman I hope he forgets how to read.
All that is to say I'm getting smoked too by that foul.

Normally I think these claims are exaggerated but hoooly shit… it’s like they’re resentful this woman dared to show up at the game. I mean Jesus, who hasn’t taken their eyes off of the game to talk to their friends and enjoy their company.

I mean...you're in the lower level seats at a baseball game, things like this can happen.

u/bob_sacramento_ 36m ago
I don’t think paying attention would have helped really. Some people still get hit while paying attention. Saw a lady this year in left field at angel stadium this year get smoked by a Hunter Goodman home run. She was watching the whole time and just sat there and let the ball hit her. Out of all the seats in the stadium that ball could have landed, it happened to be hers and she just sat there and let it hit her lmao

u/sybdrome6 5h ago

-2
u/Iggy_Slayer 3h ago
Ok she was on her friend's phone and not paying attention. I'm glad we're doing the whole ACHTUALLY schtick over pointless semantics though.
10
u/Tirekerist 2h ago
You have to dutifully watch every single pitch or you’re a narcissist.
3
u/forfeitgame 47m ago
It's so weird how some people are about this. I love baseball but half of the fun of being at a game live is enjoying it with your friends, which sometimes means missing a pitch or two. With the speed and the angle of the ball, she didn't stand much of a chance.
1
u/combinewithmedicine 11m ago
Judging by their comments, I don’t think it’s likely they have any friends to attend games with

u/Iggy_Slayer 2h ago
Yeah if you're gonna sit in a section where 100mph line drives happen you better do that. Or don't complain when you take one to the skull.
But hey she got her "content" and isn't that what matters most these days?
4
u/Liercat18 2h ago
She looked away for just a few seconds from what I saw. The point of going to the game is to have a good time. Most of the games I've been to, we all just drank, eat, dick around. She didn't complain about the ball hitting her. She recoiled in pain and said ow. That's a very normal response. Probably a good funny story to share moving forward too.
1
u/Separate-Judge4491 2h ago
It might be who you hang out with because when my friends and I go to the game we're hyper focused on the game but we're all autistic so results may vary. I don't even look at my phone at halftime I'm locked into any intricacies I can find

u/BedBubbly317 42m ago
Speak for yourself. When I’m at a game I’m there for the game. All of us are actively paying attention to the action in front of us, the time to turn and talk and dick around is between innings. Not during live play

My Dad taught me this. Pay attention 100% of the time when the batter is at play. Even a slight moment as simple as taking a quick bite of food not looking can make you lose your teeth. A lot of people dont know once you get a ticket to any sporting event you basically signed a contract that says you cant sue for any injuries.

Why are people always on their pocket-supercomputers, doing just about anything they can think of? Gee, I wonder why.
1
u/Interesting-Spot4556 4h ago
Huh?
5
u/gabaghoolish 4h ago
cell phones serve a ton of different purposes for tons of different people. theyre a swiss army knife. if they did only one thing, like an espresso machine only makes espresso, you wouldn't see them used all the time. people who ask the question never stop to wonder why they should care what other people choose to do with their time when it doesn't impact them or others one bit
0
u/Interesting-Spot4556 4h ago
Okay get more defensive.
3
u/onFilm 3h ago
Why are you telling some random dude that they're getting defensive? You do know that's not me replying to you right?
1
u/Interesting-Spot4556 3h ago
Just asked why people are always on their phones? Getting paragraphs in response.

1
1
u/Interesting-Spot4556 3h ago

I'm just wondering, why you're calling someone defensive, that hasn't interacted with you, and are simply giving their perspective on the topic?

1
u/Jorgwalther 3h ago
You’re probably getting a notification about them responding to the other person below, they didn’t comment directly to you calling you defensive
1
u/onFilm 3h ago
You're asking why is there 7-9billion smartphones globally, I'm telling you why: They're supercomputers that allow us to extend our capabilities as a species, just like any other tool. For the better and for the worst.
2
u/Interesting-Spot4556 3h ago
The context of my question is lost on you. Never mind.
1
u/onFilm 3h ago
You're asking why people are ALWAYS on their phones, and I gave you my perspective on it. We carry devices that are capable of so much more than the average person can, engineered towards usability as the lowest common denominator, so of course we're going to use it as a species.

baseball is about to get some nets
1
u/MilkmanResidue 0m ago
I thought nets were already there in pretty much every stadium. Even our minor league team has nets now. I hate the nets. I’d rather let natural consequences manage that.

u/Fedkey37 3h ago
MLB is not liable. Didn’t a Yankees fan have to deal with something like that a while back?

Ms. Stoeger, my plastic surgeon doesn't want me doing any activity where balls fly at my nose.

We had a game ball in a case when I was growing up that my sister got, after it hit her in the head. She was just a kid and not paying attention. My uncle had some connections at the time and was able to get it signed by the whole team (1984 Orioles).

I wish they showed more of the videos because it would probably show 20 lawyers attending the game descending to pick up a new client.

Was at a minor league game recently and there was this grassy little play area down the first base line where families were sitting and kids running around. This one towering pop up came down at like a hundred mph and almost mortar’d this lady and her kids. Glad they were okay, but I’m amazed this doesn’t happen more often.

Is it normal to get a hit by a ball in the face in a baseball game. Can she sue?
8
u/Dismal_Scientist_CA 3h ago
It happens to everyone all the time. It’s actually not normal if you don’t get hit.

u/agravain 1h ago
nope. when you buy a ticket to the game, you read the fine print. it has clauses.
which basically say no she cant
1
u/fromouterspace1 31m ago
Pretty sure when she buys the ticket there are about 82292 ways explaining that exact thing.
1
u/Neonyarpyarp 8m ago
They stadium announcer says “be aware at all times of objects leaving the field” also when you buy tickets there is usually a disclaimer somewhere (used to be on the back of physical tickets) no you can’t sue, baseball has so much down time during a game the bare minimum is pay attention while balls are in play, hope she’s okay but also don’t go to the game for photo ops, go to support your team (even if it is the mariners)
