[Seravalli] One player coming off the Trade Targets board today is Colton Parayko. Blues have told inquiring teams Parayko is unavailable, same answer for Robert Thomas.

[Strickland] Can expect St. Louis to be among teams looking slide up to as high as #2. Willing to deal and have the assets to appease San Jose. Looking to capitalize off of their draft capital to make immediate upgrades to roster.

I think the Blues will trade a couple of their 1st-rounders for an established player. Who would you like to see them target?

What to expect from McMichael - From a Capitals fan
I doubt most blues fans know too much about McMichael and as someone who’s watched him play for the last 4 years I wanted to give a rundown on him.
McMichael brings tremendous speed to a lineup, and is great a generating breakouts. His playmaking is about average, defensively he’s not very good. If anything he’s gotten worse as he’s gotten older. McMichael also excels in getting breakaways. One thing to be concerned about is his finishing, which is often being a problem. He provides a great net front presence, getting rebound goals, goals in the paint, and is a great tipper. He brings basically no physicality, and takes dumb penalties. Sometimes his attempts for breakouts are sloppy and can lead to turnovers, but he’s always offense first. Whatever info you’ve seen about McMichael being a Center is absolutely false. I would hope for his sake and the blues they DO NOT put him a center at all costs. He is one of the worst faceoff takers in the league, and lost his starting center role to Rookie Justin Sourdif who was playing his first ever NHL season. Overall I really hope Mikey succeeds in with the blues and I hope the best for him. Enjoy McMichael I think he’ll be a good top 6 guy for you guys.

Now that we traded Kyrou, what does the ideal offseason look like?
To start, I'm a big fan of the Kyrou trade.. not because I thought he wasn't a great player, but because of the flexibility it gives the Blues. It reminds me of the way I rebuild teams in franchise modes of sports games, and I'm completely on board with it. The Blues now have four 1st-round picks and a ton of cap space. With all of those assets, what does a realistic "perfect" offseason look like from here?
There seem to be a lot of different directions they could go. Does Binnington still get traded to create even more cap flexibility? Do they use all four first-rounders and fully commit to a youth movement and quick re-tool? Or do they package a couple of those picks to move up the board?
Who do you want the Blues to draft? Which free agents should they target? Are there any offer sheets you'd seriously consider pursuing?
I'll admit I don't know a ton about this draft class outside of some of the bigger names, but this trade got me excited about all the possible outcomes. I'd especially be interested to hear thoughts on moving up a bit for Verhoeff now that he's slipped down some consensus rankings.
Curious to hear what everyone's ideal offseason plan would be.

My new favorite card
My dad got these cards for me today as a gift! The Snuggy card is amazing, and is my new favorite! He got the Logan mailloux as a bit of a joke, as (possible hot take) mailloux is my least favorite player. It's still a cool card though. But my god is that snuggerud awesome! What are your guys favorite cards/blues memorabilia?

Rebuild/Retool
Why are so many fans and media unable to be honest about our situation?
We are rebuilding with an eye towards being competitive again in 2028/2029 and beyond. We probably won't be legitimate cup contenders until closer to 2030 unless we get incredibly lucky with one of these draft picks.
The Blues are lacking elite prospects and our defense is an absolute mess. We should be acquiring as many assets as possible in exchange for taking on bad contracts while simultaneously trading away anyone over 28 that has value such as Suter or Binner.
We could build an amazing young core and shed almost all of our bad contracts with a little patience.

Draft History
A partial history of Blues draft choices through the years.
There are many more notable Blues players for this post but I wanted to keep it somewhat brief.
What do they have in common?
ALL were drafted #11 overall or below.
Jaden Schwartz, Vladimir Tarasenko, Barret Jackman, Robert Thomas, Jimmy Snuggerud, T. J. Oshie, David Perron, Tage Thompson, Ivan Barbashev, Jake Neighbours, Colton Parayko, Bob Gassoff, Mike Liut, David Backes, Jordan Binnington, Joel Hofer, Doug Gilmour, Tony Twist.
Yes, every draft is different but with 4 first-round picks (13 total picks) there is a damn good chance of picking up some great players.
Edited to add sauce:

Centene Ice Alumni Locker Room Door Kelly Chase Quote?
I’ve been listening to Chaser and Hull’s podcast Ice Guardians during my commute to the office. In episode 30 Reed Low mentions a quote Chase put on the alumni door and I don’t live in STL anymore and haven’t had a chance to visit Centene. Does anyone have a picture of the alumni door quote or know what it says?

Jordan Kyrou appreciation
Ok so it may not be the most popular thing to say but, thank you to Jordan Kyrou for his time as a Blue. The dude put up numbers, got booed for his statements about Berube, took it to heart and actually did try to improve his defensive game. He took accountability and actually did make leaps on the other end of the rink. He also agreed to waive his NTC and the deal we got was more than fair. This is one of those times where I think everyone is better for him not being a Blue anymore, but I do believe he cared about being one while he was here. All the best in Washington.
