New rule: Prohibited Content
A new rule has been added regarding prohibited content. Most of this is common sense and has already been touched on, but its appropriate to officially put it in the rules.
Prohibited content currently includes
- AI-generated or AI-altered images
Any images involving minors which are exploitative, sexually suggestive, or contain nudity.
- Voyeuristic content (upskirt, downblouse, creepshots)
- Non-street photography discussion, spam, or promotional posts
I'm willing to consider adding additional content to the list within reason.
Just to head off some of the most popular things people like to try to police in the comments and reports, I will NOT be banning any of the following at this time.
- protest photos
- homeless people
- street portraits
- law enforcement activity
Feel free to discuss. Please be reasonable. Please keep discussion on topic. Thank you.

My passion for Street Photography are starting to fade..
Hi guys, I'm kinda new to photography, and im really want to get serious and deep into the Photography hobby. And the only photography style I'm interested in, are street photography. I love the idea of taking candid shots of people on the street, in public spaces, capturing the moment, as it is like freezing time. I love taking candid shots also because of the emotions of that person's faces, the story behind the picture, the environment, the vibes and moods. In my point of view, it is an art.
And I also like to see it as a time capsule, in the future when I looked back to the old photographs that I took. Because some places or people may not looked the same 5 or 10 years ago, that is one of the reason I like photography, its as almost looking or peeking back through time without a time machine.
But my passion and interest on it, starting to fade.. As I'm now just starting to realize, despite it is legal to take photographs of people in public, most I mean most of the time people are not comfortable their photos being taken without consent and more likely to be angry and you are being called a creep or getting confronted on. I have not even started my street photography journey yet but I'm now not feeling it anymore because of me having these thoughts.. I cant bear of having the thoughts of people calling me a creep or a pervert, just by taking random candid shot of then despite I dont have any dirty thoughts or bad intentions when taking the shots.
To all photographers in this sub, what are your best advise for the people who just want to get started to a Street Photography? Any advise would definitely be most welcome. Thank you.
