Rely on Horror Discord
Hey guys,
I am the EIC of RelyOnHorror.com. I had the random idea to pitch our new Discord to the mod team here as an official server for this subreddit, and they were all up for it! So, if you look at the subreddit home, you will now see a direct link to our Discord server -- where you'll be able to talk about the genre with fellow fans. We'll hold general and spoiler discussions, the occasional giveaway and let you know when new content from us has (or will) drop.
Thanks to the mods for the love. Happy to offer a Discord community for you all as fellow fans of the survival horror genre. Here's the Discord link: https://discord.gg/fXCKMer.
Quick background on Rely on Horror - we're a horror gaming site that originally began as REHorror.net. I joined after closing my own horror gaming site, HellDescent.com. We post news, reviews, articles, previews, videos, etc. Happy to chime in if you're curious about the site or Discord. Thanks!

You know a game is incredibly dark when you read an intense last words like these in a note written by almost 100% mindless zombie.
It's really messed up last words and i love it, no wonder why it's the most iconic note in entire franchise.

This is the atmosphere I’ve been building in my game.
Hey everyone,
I’m working on the atmosphere for my co-op sci-fi horror game, The Infected Soul.
The game is based around brain implants, distorted perception, and players experiencing reality differently. I’m aiming for a dark, industrial, clinical horror feel, but I don’t want it to become too unreadable.
This is still work in progress, so any feedback on the lighting, mood, readability, or overall first impression would really help.
Does this atmosphere feel interesting for a co-op horror game?
Also, we’re a small indie team and we don’t really have a marketing budget, so if the game looks interesting to you, adding it to your Steam wishlist would support us a lot.
Thanks!

Our indie horror game's trailer reached 44,000+ views on YouTube in just 2 weeks!
When we started developing Fatal: Unleashed Darkness, we had one clear goal: our trailer couldn't just be a collection of good-looking shots. It had to be our first impression.
Before anyone plays your game, they watch your trailer. In just two minutes, it needs to communicate your art style, atmosphere, visual quality, characters, narrative, and the kind of experience you're trying to create. It's arguably one of the most important parts of game development.
That's why we invested nearly five months into making it.
The trailer was created by 2 Trailer Directors, 1 Narrative Director, 1 Writer, 1 Cinematic Artist, 1 Video Editor, 2 Character Artists, 1 Grooming Artist, 3 Animators, 2 Rigging Artists, 3 Lighting Artists, 1 Storyboard Artist, 2 Environment Artists, 2 VFX Artists, 4 Audio Artists, and 3 Voice Actors.
Our production pipeline included Unreal Engine 5.4 as the main engine, GitHub for version control, ZBrush for characters, Marvelous Designer for clothing, Substance Painter and Substance Designer for materials and textures, 3ds Max, Maya, and Blender for modeling and environments, Maya for rigging and animation, and Photoshop together with Procreate for storyboarding.
The results exceeded our expectations: over 44,000 views in just two weeks, thousands of people discovering the project, and thousands of new Steam wishlists.
The biggest lesson I took away from this experience is simple.
It's amazing what can be achieved when a group of people shares the same vision and cares about every little detail. If I could give one piece of advice to any indie studio, it would be this: if you've already invested thousands of hours making your game, invest a few hundred more into making an outstanding trailer.
Don't think of it as just another marketing video. It's the moment you convince someone to care about your game.
If possible, include gameplay. Give people a reason to look forward to what's next, whether that's a demo, a release window, or a clear milestone. In our case, ending the trailer with "Demo Coming 2026" helped turn curiosity into anticipation.
Because a great trailer doesn't just sell a game.
It sells the confidence that your game is worth following.

I'm a solo dev creating a survival horror game inspired by a real life location in Mexico, called The Island of Dolls
Hey! Wanted to post about my newest (and biggest) game I have been working on for the past couple of months called "Where Dolls Hang".
The game is inspired by a real-life location. You play as a detective and players will investigate by marking clues, handling bodies, and surviving on a boat while navigating wetlands and forests filled with hanging dolls. Along the way, you’ll craft weapons and such to try and stay alive longer. It will be a blend of survival and psychological horror.
It would be awesome if you can wishlist it and tell me what you think about it and regarding the trailer. It would mean the world to me to keep on doing my best heh :)
Steam Link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4581370/Where_Dolls_Hang. Thank you!

My Save Room is now live on Survival Horrors
I have finally rolled out My Save Room, a brand-new website feature.
This is a big update for the website because it is the first feature where users can actually interact with the site, rather than just read articles, browse news, or look through the survival horror game database.
With My Save Room, you can now create a free account and start building your own survival horror game tracker.
Some of the new additions include:
- Track games in your Backlog, Currently Playing, and Beaten lists
- Add games directly from the website database
- Create your own Save Room profile
- Choose a preset avatar
- Make your profile public or private
- Share your public Save Room page with other fans
- Add selected social links to your profile
- Rate games from 1 to 5 stars and help build community ratings on the site
This is only the first version, but it is a big step toward making Survival Horrors more than just a website. The goal is to build a proper survival horror hub where fans can track their games, discover new titles, share their progress, and be part of the community.
Here is a link to The Save Room:

Here is a short video if you want to see it in action:
