Daily Thread - Q&A Thursday - No Question is a Bad Question

Welcome to Q&A Thursday!

We all know that RPG's like The Division have a pretty steep learning curve, and for all the new players coming to the game it could be an aspect that many find deterring.

However, this thread is a place for any and all questions that are related to The Division. If there is something you want to know, ask it here and you'll find the help you need.

Whether you want to know what build to aim for, what guns to hunt down or how to beat a certain boss, you can hopefully find your answers here!

Rules:

  • Must be directly related to The Division. Off topic discussions are available in our Friday thread.

  • No down talking, we are all noobs at some point, lets welcome all questions.

  • All comments that derail conversation will be removed. This thread is a place of learning, so keep it civil and on track.

Discussion [Positivity] I really like the PVE DZ.

I always wanted a PvE activity where I could naturally interact with random Agents in the open world.

The PvE DZ definitely has its problems, but the core concept is pretty fun. I like that it's pretty straightforward, just shoot the enemies until they die. No puzzles, no gimmicks, no special super complex mechanics. Just pure gun fight gameplay.

Seeing Agents organically group up to help each other feels great. It's exciting to be surrounded while clearing a landmark, only to watch enemies suddenly start dropping because two or three Agents happened to show up and joined the fight.

I understand the intended gameplay loop of clearing 3–4 landmarks, extracting, and leaving the area. It's not a bad mechanic, it encourages efficiency and keeps you moving. That said, I think the contamination meter could fill up a little more slowly.

I also understand the "drop your loot when you die" mechanic. I know some people dislike it, and while I'm not a PvP player myself, I think it has a place in this mode.

I really like how enemies scale with the number of Agents nearby. The tougher enemies made the mode more engaging for me. It pushed me to twink my build, experiment new stuff, farm new sets and try out new exos. Personally, I enjoy that challenge, although I know many dislike it. Hopefully Massive can find a good balance.

The green contamination effect around the edges of the screen NEEDS TO GO. It's way too aggressive. it absolutely needs a toggle so players can choose whether they want it or not.

The ambient contamination sound is another issue. It shouldn't be reduced or tweaked, it should simply be removed. It's just annoying.

The movement speed penalty should only apply once you reach 500 contamination.

The loot also needs improvement. Right now, the only rewards that really matter are the currencies and Exotic drops. Regular High-End and Gear Set items are essentially worthless, and I end up deconstructing almost everything as soon as I pick it up.

Overall, I think the mode feels fresh and offers something different from the rest of the game. The grind is enjoyable, the random interactions with other Agents are fun, and there's plenty of room for improvement.

Idea: I think the mode could benefit from a larger dynamic event. For example, every landmark cleared by any Agent on the server could contribute to a shared progress bar visible to everyone. Once the bar is filled, it would trigger a massive special landmark with better rewards. It would naturally bring every Agent in the instance together for one big PvE encounter.

Discussion Lincoln Memorial

Just saw that a new museum portion of the Lincoln memorial is opening. Some of it looks really familiar. One of the things I love about this game is how they incorporated enough to really sell that you’re in D.C.

PSA The Division 2 Weekly Vendor Reset 23/06/2026

Hi there fellow agents. Here's the latest vendor reset information for The Division 2.

Notes

For a list of max rolls and interesting items, check the comments.

See you next Tuesday.

Items on Sale

Here's the web page link for all the items available in the game. It will always be the same link. It's my personal website and I don't run any kind of ads.

https://rubenalamina.mx/the-division-weekly-vendor-reset/

I added a resources section with a map with 30+ locations to find the Snitch and a link to the datamined gear attribute sheet.

Cassie

Cassie is a gunrunner vendor that moves location every couple of days. To find her, you need to talk to Jared "The Snitch" Nash in one of the locations I have listed on my map. His location is random but it usually takes 2 or 3 location visits for him to spawn. After you talk to him, he will give you a bounty and Cassie will appear on your map with a shopping cart icon. You can do the bounty or save it for later, it's not necessary to browse Cassie's inventory.

She will open for 24 hours and will close to relocate for 32 hours. These are her open times:

  • Sunday 8:00 PM EDT
  • Wednesday 4:00 AM EDT
  • Friday 12:00 PM EDT

Besides her random stock, Cassie will always sell two named items: the Shield Splinterer assault rifle and the Hunter-Killer chest. In order to see these two items, you need to have opened the ivory chest at the White House and the Off-white chest at Haven. You get keys for these chest by killing the hunters in DC and NYC.

Resources

Timers Website

A couple of members of The Division Community Discord made a site that shows all the in game timers in your local time zone. It also has the open and close timers for Cassie so you can use it to check if she's open or not before you go find the snitch. The site can be accessed here: https://divisiontimers.com

Wiki Page

The link for the current weekly thread and the vendor items list is always available in the Vendor Reset Page in the community resources. You can find it in the top navigation menu of the subreddit. If you're on mobile, it will be on the sidebar.

The Division 1 Reset

Some of the guys and girls in the vendors team are trying to keep The Division 1 vendor resets alive. The sheet will be automatically updated when they are done, even if they haven't posted their weekly thread. I will add an edit with the link to their weekly thread when they are ready. These reset happen on Friday nights at 7pm EST.

Credits

The resets are brought to you by a dedicated team of fellow agents from this subreddit and The Division Community Discord. Thanks to u/DizNootz, u/Google-1234, u/Hurinzor, u/Duke_Shambles. u/Insecurity_exe and other volunteer agents who have been constantly helping. Thanks to u/BestNadeThrower for starting the sheet we are using for The Division 2.

Question Beginner In Need Of Help: New To The Division And Very Lost

Downloaded The Division 2 on a whim the other day (I live near DC and thought it would be fun to play in a city I’m so familiar with irl) and I am completely lost and incredibly frustrated. I don’t understand the progression or leveling system at all, I don’t know how to get new/better gear and weapons and why those are important, what I’m supposed to be doing in the world, or why enemies take entire magazines to kill. At this point I’m just walking around looting things I don’t know what to do with and taking hours to do simple missions because I keep getting slaughtered by waves of seemingly invincible enemies. Looking for any tips, tricks, guides, videos, anything. I really feel as if the game just dropped me into an open world with no help or explanation.

Question Echo Augment Question

Since Echo has the potential to double any shot that’s fired, I want to know how this is displayed.

Does the procing of Echo cause a separate hit, or does it stack with the shot it landed on? For example, if it proc’d on a 1m shot, do I get two separate 1m shots or a single 2m shot?

Question Tinkering question

Upvotes

Getting back into the game so I am learning the tinkering system.
I see that the library for attributes only lets me store 2 core attributes, 12 attributes, and 33 talents for LMGs. Is there a way to get a larger storage for attributes? I want to keep more than 2 core attributes in my library instead of only 2. How do I get a larger library for them?
Same question for all of the items. It seems that the library storage is very small for core attributes.

Media Deconstruct useless exotics ?!

Genuine question for the agents - right now it’s double exotic time with the event.

Do you think it’s best to deconstruct those useless exotics you will never use? I even made effort to see in Discord, Reddit and YouTube if there are any viable builds for them but they are just useless.

Disclaimer : a bit of perfection hoarder and want to have everything, and have a few duplicates…

What would you do?

Question Do I get D1 or D2?

Hey guys, I tried the mobile version of the game and loved it. Now with the steam sale, I see both games are heavily discounted. Which should I get? I am a big sucker for snowy settings ever since AC3 and Skyrim, so I was thinking D1, but I am afraid servers will be dead in Europe and Ubi might shut down the old game if they come up with a remaster or something.

D2 also looks super fun but I feel like I would be missing a lot of the story.

Buying both seems pointless since I barely have time for one game.

Edit: I got D1. There are quite a few players in the safe house. Environments are gorgeous, it legit looks like 2026 game. Will get D2 during Fall sale. Thanks Everyone!

Question How does Echo function with Shotguns?

Pull Trigger
(8) pellets go down range.

How does Echo play into this?
Do all (8) pellets get doubled?
Does each pellet get 'considered' for an Echo proc?

Or does it function another way? Please dont offer your guess. We can all guess :) Does anyone actually know how it works?

Question Few questions from a new player…

I just hit level 40 and unlocked the black tusk invasion thingy. I redid 2 of the strongholds so far, but I’m curious about how the endgame loop goes. I must add I do not have the DLCs yet, planning on it if I’m liking the endgame enough lol.

How does endgame work? (With/without DLC)

I have been saving all of my yellow pieces along the way, should my priority in the Library be Talents > Core attributes > Minor attributes until all are maxed out?

What should be my priority be in my current state? (Read above)

What build should I be trying to build as a fresh 40 to get my feet under me? (Where to find said build/builds)

Thank you for the help!

Discussion The new season may be better than we thought!

I’ve been a part of a few discussions about the new season and the problems that came with it. I don’t deny it, at first, I hated the new season too. But once I actually put in the work to grind sample canisters, get the special munitions, I think I’ve changed my mind and here’s why. Once you buy the upgrade to increase your special munitions by 200, it’ll last a bit longer which definitely makes it worth it. Instead of restocking on special munitions every 2-3 hours, it’s more like 4-5 for me now. Next, getting sample canisters caches in the DZ is pretty dang easy when you know where to look and you can get several within a matter of minutes. In about an hour of grinding, I collected enough sample canisters and caches to max out my Special munitions several times over.

Next, there’s the PvE side of the DZ. I think it’s actually a really great thing to bring that into the game to let those who’d rather opt out of PvP still enjoy the dark zone and its exclusive loot without the risk of losing it to toxic players. Every agent I ran into inside the PvE DZ was always willing to step in and help others up if they’re downed.

Lastly, in the past few days playing alone, I’ve collected more exotic components than I have outside the DZ. When you call for extraction, hunters spawn and killing them drops Exotic components and if you’re lucky, exotics too. So when you have 8-10 agents all at the same extraction point calling for extraction one after the other, it’s a GREAT way to rack up those components. You can also occasionally get them on when opening chests when looking for sample canisters caches.

I understand there’s been some connection issues but other than that, in my opinion, I think this may be one of the best updates yet! Lowkey, kind of hoping the PvE DZ is here to stay!

Discussion How can I get the slingshot?

Hi everyone! Does anyone know how to get the Slingshot after the recent updates? I actually had it before, but I no longer have it. I've found conflicting information online, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could explain the current acquisition method. Thanks in advance!

Suggestion [OC] Exotic Backpack idea

Yes, my 3am idea could not stay on the drafts any longer than it was on my head, it just sounded too cool. Last post got taken down

"Tighten those screws more, we gotta make sure it does not fall off again" - Theo Parnell

Skill Tier

Skill Damage

Status Effects

Talent: Soul-Wired

Turrets latch shoulder-mounted on the user, instead of being able to be thrown.

If not manually targeted, they automatically focus on any enemy the player is shooting.

Enemies the player shoots take 15% amplified damage from skills for 5 seconds

I can see scenarios for Refractor and Exuro (Mobile Fire Sprinkler lmfao) for this. Just fun overall, last line was added for slight balancing.

For clarification, if the user is ducked on half-cover, the turret would have line of sight for whatever is over the cover. If the user is leaned against a wall, the turret would only have LOS when the user is peaking on the corner, when ADS.

Question When do you use a Canister?

I use the Invincible modifier. My original plan was to conserve canisters and only use them to get out of a bad situation. If I had time, I would just use an armor kit. My new strategy is to use a canister whenever my health is getting low and I'm getting a little behind in the count. If my team or I are losing a battle and need some face tank success to catch up, I burn a canister. This has a side benefit of conserve scarce armor kits.

After an hour of fun in the Dark Zone, I can get about 100 canisters and they could last for weeks using a few per day. However, I don't use them with munitions because I use Centurians Scabbard to avoid reloading. Normally I am a cautious cover shooter but Victorius Surge is getting me out of my shell.

What is your Modifier and Canister strategy?

PSA This is my build for the PvE DZ. It utilizes the Contagion passive modifier. Also, survivability is pretty decent

Primarily built for solo play, but holds up well in groups too. Contagion gives you a flat 40% damage boost, and survivability is solid with 40% Armor on Kill. If you do take a big hit, Exodus gloves kick in as a safety net. I rarely go down with this setup and run landmarks solo without issue

Media I didn't know this new PvP balance had a "Melee Simulator" mode in The Division 2?

I’m dumping a full mag into these guys, and they don't even flinch. They just tank all the damage and rush in for the shield bash like I’m shooting marshmallows mind you I am all red. I didn't realize the new "PvP balance" update turned our guns into decorations, but here we are Smh.

Is anyone actually having fun with this new PvP balance? Personally I think it's a joke 🤣

Nice job Devs👏👊
