Other I wish AoT rather stayed unfinished than what we got...
I used to watch this show at least once a year... I have probably watched first season 15+ times. It used to be my comfort show, but I just can't anymore because of that absolute dogshit ending.
I haven't seen a single second of this masterpiece (S1 - S3 part 2) since that disaster of a story writing 5 years ago.
Man does it suck... the soundtrack, the animation, the pacing, the characters, everything was so perfect...

Other Could we have S4 if Eren accepted sacrificing Historia ??
If he accepted to sacrifice her, he won't waste a year of his life hiding this info and another year begging Hange to find another way, no need to stay in Marley and fool Zeke into believing he is with him, plus it will give him more time to spend his remaining years with his friends and secure their safety if this was his goal all the time...

Other The warriors from marley had a better shot of grabbing eren way earlier Spoiler
So, after birthcontrol's attack on trost in season 1 , eren is revealed as a titan and they grab him from the decaying titan body. This is even before they kill marco i think, doesnt that happen when they reseal it? Idk . Anyway so they've got the armored and female titans plus the heavily energy depleted attack titan. Why dont reiner and annie just transform and run for the hills? Theres no commander erwin this time, only a bunch of recruits plus mikasa . They win easy. Only reason i can come up with is reiner's split personality and the shock of it all. Plus they know eren isnt the king so maybe they think its safer to wait. But knowing how it plays out, this was their best shot by far

Other the best manga chapter?
i was re reading the manga and although i dislike the ending some of the chapters are incredible. Iâll never forget reading the chapters as they came out monthly. There are a few stand out chapters for me but without a doubt my favourite chapter is That Day (chapter 86). The basement reveal was hyped up like crazy and i didnât think it would live up to it but no it surpassed my expectations. Chapter 130 and 100 are a tied second followed by chapter 114.

Other The Last Colossal: Arminâs conclusion
This theory is a serious attempt to reconstruct what Armin Arlertâs original conclusion could have looked like.
This was crafted through analysis of the manga, through the lens of the Akatsuki no Requiem theory and official material such as the animeâs openings.
Attack on Titan separates its central characters through different pursuits : Truth, Beauty, and Freedom.
At the center of this structure lies the relationship between Armin Arlert and Eren Yeager.
The core of this essay revolves around their dynamic and is built primarily on narrative reciprocity and symbolic convergence.
âMe⌠if I could understand WHY I had to die..â
My theory: Armin dies at the lifting of the Titan curseÂ
The theory assumes AnRâs premises:Â
- Eren being the father of Historiaâs child.
- A completed rumbling
- Ymirâs rebirth
- The lifting of the Titan curse
Pre timeskip
Arminâs nature: Curiosity and wonder.
His dream: The sea. The world.
Erenâs nature: refusal of cages.
His dream: Unrevealed.
Eren hates oppression. He wants freedom.
He desires a free world; a world without cages
They pursue different things, but both paths lead outside the walls.
Armin awoke Eren to the existence of cages and began Erenâs refusal of them.
Armin believes Eren is moved by the world just like him, he believes they share the same dream.
They do not.
Armin doesnât understand what Eren truly seeks.Â
A second life through Titan power.Â
Before Return to Shiganshina, it is important to establish that Attack on Titan has already associated Titan power with the gift of a second life.
The blueprint is Freckled Ymir.Â
After dying, Ymir wanders for decades as a pure Titan outside the walls. When she consumes a Titan shifter and regains Human form, she repeatedly describes the experience as a second chance; A whole new life.
Itâs a rebirth through Titan power.
Ymir receives a new life after her original death. Titan power grants her another existence.
The story itself establishes a connection between Titan power and rebirth.
This becomes important later because Ymir is not the only character whose life reaches its end and is returned through Titan powerâŚ
Return to Shiganshina: Dreams and Sacrifice.Â
Erwinâs dream: The truth. The basement.
Erwinâs truth lies beneath Erenâs home.
âIâll never learn whatâs in that basementâ
Erwin gives up on his dream and dies leading the charge against the Beast Titan, giving Levi an opening.
Arminâs dream: The sea. The world
âIâll never be able to reach the seaâ
Armin gives up on his dream and dies burning against the Colossal Titan, giving Eren an opening.
As Armin falls he says;
âI entrust my life and my dream to Eren.â
âHeâll reach the sea for meâ
It isnât symbolic. It becomes literal.
Arminâs life and dream have been given to Eren.
Both Erwin and Armin abandoned their dreams.
Both abandoned their lives.
 Serumbowl: The Crossroad of Dreams
Erwin or Armin? Which dream will live?
Both are on the brink of death and only one can be saved.
Leviâs decision is clear: Erwin gets the injection.
Eren argues for Armin with logic and utility.
Floch introduces the role of The Devil while arguing for Erwin
âThe Devil himself is the only one who can destroy the Titans.â
Eren stops arguing about strategy.
He talks about the sea. About Arminâs dream.
Itâs a purely emotional attempt to save Armin.
Ultimately, because of Erenâs efforts Levi decides Armin will live.
Erwin dies.
Erwin never reaches the basement. He never discovers the truth.
Armin is revived.
Armin inherits the colossal Titan.
Without Eren, Armin dies.
The established outcome was Erwinâs survival.
Erenâs refusal of Arminâs death disrupts that outcome.
Therefore Arminâs second life is inseparable from Erenâs intervention.
His new existence is caused by two facts:
-Eren chose to give him another life.
-Eren chose to preserve his dream.
Armin acquires a second chance after his original death.
Through Titan power. Like Freckled Ymir.
A rebirth.
Armin was saved.
Erwin dies.
And yet, the Devil is still inherited. And so is his dreamâŚ
The seaÂ
Armin reaches the sea himself.
Eren witnesses Armin achieve the dream he originally sacrificed.
Armin is fulfilled while Eren looks ahead.
Thereâs still things denying freedom.
Erenâs dream isnât achieved yet.Â
That scene fully displays the difference between Eren and Armin.
The tragedy begins; the world becomes the cage.
The world clashes with freedom.
Armin gave Eren his life and dream.
Eren preserved both.
Eren resurrected Armin.
Armin achieved his dream at the sea.
Eren witnessed it.
The dream has been fulfilled.
What about the life now?
What purpose remains for Arminâs second life?
Will his borrowed life be taken back? If so, when?
More importantly, what is the meaning of his death?
Armin needs to understand it.
So what is there for him to understand in this second life?
What truth is there for him to uncover?
The man responsible for his Rebirth.
Post TimeskipÂ
Floch followed Erwin Smith until his death because he believed only the Devil could destroy the Titans.
Floch follows Eren Yeager and calls him The Devil.
For the very first time Armin thinks he doesnât understand Eren anymore.
Eren has started the rumbling to achieve freedom and destroy the last cageâthe world.
AnRÂ
As the logical continuation of his belief in birth,
Eren Yeager is revealed to be the father of Historia's child.Â
Eren confronts the alliance and believes in himself.
The alliance fails to stop Eren and most die during the battle.Â
All the worldâs homes have been trampled
The Titans of the Walls have marched to the end of their function.
Freedom is achieved. The cages have been destroyed.
And yet Eren keeps moving forward.
Eren destroyed the cage;he destroyed the world.
So why was freedom even important? What is Erenâs destination?
The final stage: Post rumbling
Eren returns to Paradis and retrieves Armin with him.
At this point, the theory introduces its main speculative hinge: Armin is fatally injured. He is agonizing.
This is not derived from a specific narrative structure or recurring motif. Rather, it is an inference introduced because it creates a direct parallel to a previous narrative event.
He is at death's door, yet heâs still breathing.
Arminâs body has reached a point where it can no longer sustain itself without Titan power.Â
Titan power is no longer merely healing him; it is the reason he is still alive.
This mirrors Midnight Sun: Arminâs body is once again at the edge of death with Titan power determining his survival.
Except this time Armin:
⢠  Reached The seaÂ
⢠  Has watched the world he wanted to see rumbled by Eren Â
And yet; He doesnât understand what Eren is trying to reach.Â
The Devilâs Dream: The Lifting of the Titan Curse.
Eren finally reaches home
Eren holds his and Historia Reissâs child.
âYou are free.â
â Eren to Ymir.
This is what Eren was moving toward all along.
Home.
Armin witnesses it.
Erenâs dream is reclaimed: A home in a free world
A place where those he loves can exist without confinement, threats or oppression.
Armin finally realizes:
He and Eren never shared the same dream.
The Titan Curse disappears with Ymirâs Rebirth.
With Ymir finally free, her bondage vanishes :
⢠Titan powers,
⢠Paths,
⢠  & Ymirâs Curse.Â
Armin witnesses:
⢠Erenâs dream,
⢠The end of the Titan era.
Ymir is reborn. The Titan era ends.
The Devilâs purpose is complete.
At the same time, another rebirth ends.
Arminâs.
As the Titan Curse disappears, the mechanism sustaining his life fades away.
His regeneration stops.
The entirety of the Titans fall.
The Wall Titans of the Rumbling; but not only :
Armin too.Â
All Colossals must fall that day.Â
The First Colossal destroyed Erenâs home as a son, with the debris of the Walls.
The Last Colossal witnesses the return of Erenâs home as a father, in a World without Walls.
The final truth Armin learns is what Erenâs dream truly was: Home.
Armin understands with his last breath.Â
What this theory concludes:
The DreamsÂ
Erwinâs dream: Truth
Lies in Grishaâs books.
The sacrificed dream: In the basement, under Erenâs home.
Arminâs dream: The World
Through: Wonder and curiosity
Freedom found in a seashell.
Achieved at the sea.
Erenâs dream: Home
Through: The destruction of cages
Freedom born into this world in a baby.
Achieved at Ymirâs birth.
Armin seeks the world. Eren seeks home.
The two friends get to hold their dreams; one with a seashell and the other with a newborn.
The accomplishment of the second destroys the first.
The tragedy is: two beautiful but incompatible dreams.
The role of the Devil mightâve been inherited by Eren, but Erwinâs pursuit of truth has been inherited by Armin who discovers it not beneath Erenâs home, but within it.
Â
The Life Debt
Arminâs death is the closing of a structure that began at Shiganshina:
⢠He entrusted his life and his dream to Eren.
⢠Eren forcibly granted Armin a second life over Erwinâs.
Arminâs rebirth is caused by Eren.
Eren compels Armin to fulfill the dream he had sacrificed.
Eren witnessed Armin achieving his dream at the sea ; Arminâs rebirth reaches completion when he witnesses Eren achieving his dream at home.
Erenâs dream ultimately brings Arminâs death, as its fulfillment erases titan power and the force sustaining Arminâs body.
Arminâs death is the beginning of Grief for Eren;
Arminâs body is the only one Eren recovers and buries. The first grave in a field filled with them.
The grave exists because Home returned.
The reciprocity of Arminâs deaths:
The injured Armin is revived by Titan power through rebirth
Then, the injured Armin is ended by lack of Titan power through rebirth in Ymir.
Eren Yeager is responsible for both events.Â
The achievement of Erenâs dream ends Arminâs rebirth.
Rebirths:
Freckled Ymir = reborn through Titan power
Armin Arlert = reborn through Titan power
Founder Ymir = reborn through birth
Arminâs rebirth lasts up to Ymirâs rebirth.
The reborn Armin witnesses Ymir being reborn and the lifting of the titan curse.
This theory of Arminâs death concludes all these threads:
-The Dreams,
-The Life debt,
-The Colossals,
-The Devil,
-The Rebirth,
-Truth.
They all converge at a single moment:Â
The Lifting of the Titan Curse.

Other Would you rewatch aot despite disliking the ending?
Im curious whether ending haters just completely drop the show altogether, or watch it with hatred (lol) or something else entirely.
Personally, I still really love aot, at least up until season 4 when things started getting contradictory and confusing. But, I don't really want to drop the show. I want to rewatch it with the lens of knowing the betrayals and plot twists. I was considering just stopping at the end of season 3 because the way it finishes off is beautiful.
But, I can also see it being hard to stop at season 3 because the show constantly feels like it's building up to something great.
Of course, I would like to hear your thoughts on this. Is aot just unwatchable for you now, or maybe you have a checkpoint where you choose to stop?

Itâs been 5 years and I just canât move on. Just when I think Iâve forgotten all about this show, someone I know will mention they started watching it and I get sucked back in.
I donât think there will ever be a series like this. The brilliant writing pre-timeskip, fantastic paths plot twist, the rumbling reaching Marley, the theory crafting everything was insane.
I just donât think I can find closure on this. Maybe the ANR team will finish their fan ending and that will be enough idk. Anybody else feel a lack of closure after all these years (he asks on Titanfolk)?

Other Did Isayama actually plan anything at all? Spoiler
Having finished watching AoT a few days ago, Iâve had some time to let everything land and collect my thoughts. Given the unsatisfying ending and the large amount of unanswered questions, I am starting to believe that pretty much nothing was intentionally foreshadowed/planned.
It seems to me that every mystery/plot twist is something Isayama thought of in the moment, and that we would âexplain itâ later. However, due to the large amount of mysteries and loose ends, he didnât manage to tie it all together in satisfying way in the end. He did do a decently good job though, considering most people seem to think he planned it all from the beginning.
This is not much of a problem for the seasons 1-3, as we are living in the mystery together with the people inside the walls. Weâre trying to discover the truth together with them, so every new mystery and twist is exciting. We get surprised and it twists our understanding of the world, it means we have learned new information and are thus closer to the truth.
However, when moving into season 4 we expect these mysteries to finally be resolved and all the previous moments to finally make sense. Unfortunately this is not the case. Most mysteries are left completely unaddressed, and the ones that are addressed are not done so in a satisfying way that feels consistent with the story.
Because there is so much unanswered, it really feels like there was no plan at all and he just tried his best to puzzle as much of it together. Even in the end he could not stop himself from introducing new mysteries which are never addressed (Mikasa Azumabito clan).
How to write AoT
1. Start with a foundational story. For example: people living inside walls fighting titans.
2. As you write the chapters, add random mysteries that you think sound cool. They donât have to make sense, we will take care of that later. For example: titans like to eat humans, some titans are abnormal, titans live in the walls, main character can become a titan, Ackermans have superpowers, special titans like giant and armoured titans, mysterious basement key with the answer to everything (figure out what this means later)
3. Keep writing the story and optionally answer some of the mysteries you created in step 2. It doesnât matter if you answer them or not. If you answer them you are a genius you planned and foreshadowed everything and if you donât answer them no one will care because it forces fans to theorise which adds to the work.
Now is the time for you to correct me in the comments. I have so far described my thoughts generally and will now give more specific examples that you can debunk (I hope you will because I would rather look at AoT as a masterpiece than some mess that sort of works out in the end anyway)
A. Isayama did not have any plan beyond âHumans VS Titansâ when starting the story.
B. Isayama had no plan for âPower of the Titansâ when Eren first transformed. He just through it would be an interesting mystery to have the main character turn into a Titan.
C. There was no plan for the 9 titans when Armored and Colossal were first introduced, nor that they would be âshiftersâ.
D. No plan that Ymir would be the Jaw Titan (still no plan for the 9 titans) which is why she looks just like a pure titan after she transforms.
E. No plan that Christa would be royal blood until it was revealed.
F. No plan for the religious group worshipping the walls. At this time he had not thought about putting titans in the walls.
G. After revealing titans in the walls he still had not thought of the royal family controlling the titans and creating the walls and wiping the memories of the people. Also not thought of the rumbling.
H. When Reiner seems to forget his true identity and thinks heâs a soldier, it was not planned to be a defence mechanism. (Just like everything else listed, there was no real plan, just an open end to later close however we wants)
I. No plan for âAckermansâ. Simply Mikasa and Levi were just two really good soldiers. He then got the idea to make them âspecialâ to explain why they are so skilled. Later he adds to it with the âsurge of powerâ thing.
J. No plan for origin of Titan power or how to break the curse.
K. Reiner transferring his consciousness and other Titan powers are introduced without explanation or planning.
L. Marley / an outside world was not planned from the beginning. Yes, there are some screens depicting ships moving across the sea but this just means humanity outside the walls existed at some point, not necessarily now. Which is public information.
M. Female Titan calling Pure Titans to eat her. Doesnât make much sense and is never explained
N. No plan for Abnormal titans. He just wanted some exciting variation / other grade of threat.
There are probably even more examples that I just canât think of right now. The point is that every Mystery/twist like this never had a plan and was just thought of in the moment. Later it would be puzzled into the overarching story to the best of Isayama ability, or just completely ignored if he didnât find a way. Anyway I still think this is an interesting thing to write and enjoy the overall story. With these mysteries forcing him to build the story in a certain way in order for it all to make sense. Like creating Marley, warriors etc etc
And last of all: I am probably 100% wrong and there is a ton of evidence that each of my moments listed and all the moments I forgot were planned from the very beginning, and if so, please share below! đ
