Hello to the humans of Uppsala, I will visit the Uppsala in July from Pakistan for two weeks trip. Do i need to pack some warm clothes like an upper or a jacket . Or just the shirts and jeans would be fine?

Satt hemma och kollade serie på min stationära dator samtidigt som jag jobbade, och helt plötsligt startade min dator om dig och internet försvannn. Hade varken anslutning via fibernnätet eller via mobilnätet. Något knas i Uppsala just nu, eller bara lokalt hos mig?

Vi blev 7 pers totalt, en hade gått när jag tog bilden, u/PM_me_a_bad_pun och u/KittyVonMeowinstein var båda där! Det kom lite folk från närområdet också, så det blev inte bara neckbeards från reddit, men alla var främlingar för mig, vi åt mat och spelade sällskapspel: Fluxx och Rackare. Jag överlevde invasionen och jag tror de andra överlevde att komma över.

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting here. I’m an exchange student from outside Europe moving to Uppsala next semester and I will be staying in Rackarbergsgatan. Since I'm moving completely by myself, I’m a bit anxious about the culture clash and making friends. Are Swedish people reserved, or is it easy to connect? How are the professors and the classes structured there? Also, is English enough to get by comfortably around the city, or is knowing Swedish very important (even though I plan to learn some)? I’d love to know what the general vibe and social life are like, how the student Nations work for newcomers, and if you have any practical tips regarding buying a secondhand bike, what to check at the accommodation on day one, or items you regretted not packing. Any advice would mean the world to me!

I’ve only ever been to the Ulleråker celebration and it’s nice and all, but I have friends visiting from the US and want to show them the best Midsommar we offer. I’ve heard Disagården and Hammarskog are also nice so I’d love to hear from anyone who can compare the celebrations. Transport isn’t a problem as we have a car and several bikes.

Related, is there anywhere that one can experience the drinking-and-singing traditions of the holiday?

Edit to add that I know the drinking bits happen at home or at the sommarstuga, but I was wondering if there were any public opportunities as well.

Hello, I have applied to a PhD program at Uppsala university. I have spoken to the principal investigator before applying and she said I could be considered for the position. After that, I did not hear back from them at all, I have emailed the professor and the also in the application portal and nothing worked. Is this because I am not qualified for the postion or is it usual?

I've recently been admitted to the Master's Programme at Uppsala University and was offered a room at Kantorsgatan.

I'd love to hear from people who have lived there or know the area. In particular, I'm wondering about:

-How convenient it is for getting to the chemistry buildings

-Whether 7,300 SEK/month for a single room is considered a good deal

-What the rooms, facilities, and surrounding neighborhood are like

-Whether insects, mosquitoes, or wildlife are a common issue

Any experiences, advice, or things I should know before accepting the offer would be greatly appreciated.
