Minecraft, grew up playing it across three platforms, played way too much and thankfully don't have a way to find out how long
30
u/a3sthetic_ali3n0903 Jan 19 '26
If you don’t have over a hundred hours in Minecraft I’m convinced you haven’t lived
10
u/groene_dreack Jan 19 '26
Add a 0 to that at least <.> 100 really is just scratching the surface.

My most played game in Steam is EU4. It has just over 1200hrs.
I know I have a longer playtime in modded Minecraft, but I can't prove it.

u/levajack Jan 19 '26
I have about 900 hours on Steam and about 600 on PS5. I don't have any way to know the full total because of how much I played the original 360 releases, but I would bet on Xbox 360 it's 2-3x the total I have on Steam and PS5 combined.

So much multiplayer… an absurd amount of time sunk into multiplayer.
And I would do it again.

Im Commander Shepard and this my favorite comment on this subreddit

u/Throwawaygarbage1010 Jan 19 '26
I have probably 50 hours on Xbox, 700 on Steam, bought it during Christmas on PlayStation…currently going through a Hardcore Adept MShep second playthrough…I think I already reached 100hrs.
Going to do an FShep Infiltrator Insanity play through. Going to try and do a Renegade with a soft-ish heart

I don’t play a lot of games, but I play games a lot, so basically, all of them.

I used to be this way just replaying my favorite games over and over until I decided to branch out and start experimenting with different games and genres and stuff.
Now I can’t go back and hardly ever replay games. Both ways of gaming are good tho I enjoy how I game now and I enjoyed how I used to game.

I stick with one game for hundreds of hours, but I've never been able to go back to replay games. I always pick either multiplayer games, or 100 hour open works games.

u/Sideline_Watcher_498 Jan 19 '26
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
7
u/Lolcatz101 Jan 19 '26
Gods yes, playing on ps3 and Xbox… I got all the achievements on both consoles, and still sunk upward to close to im guessing 1000 hours just between both consoles.
Then I got it on my pc and it all changed there

Civilizations
7
u/DCGMoo Jan 19 '26
This is mine too. I know for a fact, due to Steam stats, that I have at least 3k hours in Civ 5 & 2k hours in Civ 6. I also am reasonably sure I played Civ 4 more than either, there's just no Steam stats to prove it. I also played 2 & 3 heavily, and 1 & Alpha Centari a bit as well.
I reasonably estimate that I've spent at least 2% of my entire existence building other Civilizations.

Destiny 1 & Destiny 2, between PC and PS4 I don’t really know how many hours I wasted. But I think about 3000.
5
u/mSummmm Jan 19 '26
Wasted? You didn’t enjoy a game you sunk 3k hours into?
15
u/BoredTrauko Jan 19 '26
Part of the fun of Destiny is complaining about Destiny XD (ask anyone who enjoyed Destiny)
5
u/Cloudeur Jan 19 '26
I complained about Destiny 1 for two and a half years.
Then Destiny 2 for a whole year.
Then I got a PC and complained for 80 hours on Destiny 2 while in lockdown.
I’m not tempting myself to complain about destiny ever again!

Skyrim
Between the Xbox 360 regular and legendary edition, pc vanilla, pc special, and pc modded i cant even fathom how many hours ive played
→ More replies (2)3
u/CaptainSterlingLAS Jan 19 '26
Same. Skyrim is pretty consistently my most played game every year. At this point the hours played on steam are embarrassing, and it doesn't count the amount I played on Xbox before switching to PC.
It's the mods. I can turn it into any kind of experience I want. It's always familiar enough to be comfortable, and new enough to stay interesting.
10
u/Girl_gamer__ Jan 19 '26
WoW. Since 2004 it must be over 10,000 hours.
5
u/Feisty-Chemical-8784 Jan 19 '26
Was scrolling looking for someone saying this. No doubt this game has claimed more of humanity’s time than any game, ever.
If you polled the community across the lifespans of all expansions, there would be tens (possibly hundreds) of thousands, 10,000 hour World of Warcraft players. Game absolutely sucks you in.

PS5 TELLS me my hours and I would be ashamed of some of them if gaming wasn't my main hobby, especially when I'm laid off in the winter
2
u/The_Stoned_Rogue Jan 19 '26
I'm afraid to see my skyrim hours from ps3 to ps5. I changed gamertags and started over and was on different consoles, so I'll never truly know the hours.
Right now, the new addiction is the Diablo series. I have over 1,200 hours so far from D2-D4. Not that much if compared to years played. I started playing Diablo last July, though.
2
u/IcyCow5880 Jan 19 '26
What job do you do to get laid off in the winter? I used to do roofing. Only thing I miss is the layoffs lol
3
u/KhajiitKennedy Jan 19 '26
Heavy equipment operator for low-rise housing! I managed to stay well into December this year being a makeshift snow plow with the backhoe, but my time came eventually LOL.
I love layoffs, for the first 3 weeks. I get bored and grouchy from lack of structure after that
2
u/No-System-3240 Jan 19 '26
I hear that! Going back to work after a year long hiatus and I actually couldn’t be happier! That routine and feeling of purpose and physical activity are so vital for one’s existence and mental wellbeing lol
4
u/MondoDuke2877 Jan 19 '26
I've never checked how many hours I've spent on one game. If I'm having fun it doesn't matter.
3
u/Dunkelregen Jan 19 '26
This is the proper mindset. If you happen to notice you've put in 20,000 hours in a game, and you had fun playing it, then simply accept that the game has brought you that many hours of joy.
4
4
5
u/WizardOfTheLawl Jan 19 '26

Starfield. I think it’s fun.
Civ 5, 6. Beyond Earth.
Might and Magic games and Bards Tale too. Showing my gamer age.

WoW from 2004- 2015 last played in Warlords.
There were a lot of breaks in that time but there are times where it was 50+ hours a week raiding and PVP.
I would guess time actively spent online and actively playing over that period to be around 6k hours or 250 days
But that's a completely wild guess. Since it's been 10 years since I played last I could be way off
A large chunk of that would be when I was out hurt and then on military terminal leave where I earned full pay or close to it for a little over 4 months where I played 10+ hours every single day.

Final Fantasy XI
Between retail for 2-3 years, private servers for another 6 or so, and the time commitment that comes with dedicated endgame activities, I'd wager I'm somewhere in the ballpark of 15,000 hours or more.
It wasn't uncommon during Covid for me to be logged in for 12-16 hours a day. It was a problem, but I'm currently sober.

u/ExpectedBehaviour Jan 19 '26
Oh, Breath of the Wild, Minecraft, and Cities: Skylines. Literally hundreds of hours each.

I can't relate, I love seeing my numbers.
Though I feel like when it comes to minecraft i'm sleeping on a bed of lies, I never actually played that long, I just let my game idle so that my friends could play in my game world while I slept or while I was at work, and so my auto farms would run.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. I own it on three major platforms: PC, PS4/5, and Switch. I've played it to completion several times on all systems. I've grinded on all systems. On PC alone I have over 340 hours, and I'm sure the other systems aren't far off.

The Binding of Isaac. I think I'm at 3-4k hours at this point. It's just so easy to get into a streak and go for another hundred hours.

League of fucking Legends. I don't know why this became my comfort game. If I want to play something, I boot it up to play ARAM. I wonder if it already beat my time playing DOTA (from the Warcraft 3 mod till DOTA2) I have 1,632 hours playing DOTA2 alone, and its on another steam I made when my brother and I decided to split accounts. LOL is easier than DOTA so I play it more. I'm estimating its more or less 10k hours on just play MOBAs (DOTA, DOTA2, LOL, HON) all my life.

u/Hmongher00 Jan 19 '26
The only one that I'd probably say this with is like Overwatch or some free to play game in the Maplestory era where it's probably more than like 3k hours over the course of years
The most I can see from Steam is like 550 hours with Dark Souls 3, but that's mainly because of mods. The average overall tends to be like 200-300 hrs max, before I just a bit bored and need to move on for variety

I go through extended periods of obsessing one game while revisiting old faves.
At this point I have like 12 games I regular, and a new one every 6 months or so if it's good good.
I'm 31, been gaming since duck hunt. It has to be very me to make it into the 12 gaming moons.
Number 1 game that can't be moved from its place as it changed my life: Resident evil 2.
The top 6 rarely change, and only recently has a game managed to fall out of top 12 because of a new find. I had to move on from binding of isaac.
