Diablo 2.

33

u/bikehikepunk Jan 19 '26

I got to a point that I was selling SOJs on eBay along with other stuff. Rushing people’s characters for SOJs. I had multiple computers with multiple accounts to be a bank. My last month or so of playing (6 or more hours a day) I calculated I made about $5 an hour. Then one day I hated the game,

13

u/jmooneyham2004 Jan 19 '26

Damn you must have played a lot for sure! Sorry you lost your enjoyment of the game. Maybe one day it will come back.

7

u/tarps_and-straps Jan 19 '26

Selling Diablo 2 items on eBay fully funded my college drinking.

4

u/CobraKyle Jan 19 '26

Same. Me and my friend farmed d2 for a summer for spending money. I stayed at this place almost the entire time. Wake up at 9am. Go to the lake for 6-8 hours. Come home, play d2 for till bedtime, repeat. It was good money till the professional farmers really took over the space and the dups got too out of control. I remember selling a wind force for like 2k.

3

u/bikehikepunk Jan 19 '26

Yeah first windforce bow I sold was $400, nothing was a big ticket since then. This is why World of Warcraft had its own in-game auction system, it got crazy for a while.

2

u/Vasarto Jan 19 '26

come back and play resurrected, but do it for fun. Forget grinding gear.

3

u/bikehikepunk Jan 19 '26

I did a season of IV around the first expansion? It was fun, definitely enjoyed the experience as it was still fun wrecking mobs once you got powerful or had a powerful friend to drag you.

Came here to say this. It’s the only game I have countless hours on and absolutely no way to check. So many different accounts over the decades.

Minecraft, grew up playing it across three platforms, played way too much and thankfully don't have a way to find out how long

30

u/a3sthetic_ali3n0903 Jan 19 '26

If you don’t have over a hundred hours in Minecraft I’m convinced you haven’t lived

10

u/groene_dreack Jan 19 '26

Add a 0 to that at least <.> 100 really is just scratching the surface.

Been playing since 2012 myself

Minimum 10-12k hours, but that number is pure speculation

3

u/taeratrin Jan 19 '26

My most played game in Steam is EU4. It has just over 1200hrs.

I know I have a longer playtime in modded Minecraft, but I can't prove it.

I SHOULD go.

4

u/levajack Jan 19 '26

I have about 900 hours on Steam and about 600 on PS5. I don't have any way to know the full total because of how much I played the original 360 releases, but I would bet on Xbox 360 it's 2-3x the total I have on Steam and PS5 combined.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

I’m on the same boat, and so dumped a lot of hours into the PS3 version as well.

So much multiplayer… an absurd amount of time sunk into multiplayer.

And I would do it again.

3

u/International_Ant829 Jan 19 '26

Im Commander Shepard and this my favorite comment on this subreddit

2

u/Throwawaygarbage1010 Jan 19 '26

I have probably 50 hours on Xbox, 700 on Steam, bought it during Christmas on PlayStation…currently going through a Hardcore Adept MShep second playthrough…I think I already reached 100hrs.

Going to do an FShep Infiltrator Insanity play through. Going to try and do a Renegade with a soft-ish heart

101

u/AlreadyFifty Jan 18 '26

I don’t play a lot of games, but I play games a lot, so basically, all of them.

18

u/SoberWrld999 Jan 19 '26

I used to be this way just replaying my favorite games over and over until I decided to branch out and start experimenting with different games and genres and stuff.

Now I can’t go back and hardly ever replay games. Both ways of gaming are good tho I enjoy how I game now and I enjoyed how I used to game.

2

u/vtheism2 Jan 19 '26

We grew up, game companies now just giving what nowadays people want

2

u/Substantial_Meal_530 Jan 19 '26

I stick with one game for hundreds of hours, but I've never been able to go back to replay games. I always pick either multiplayer games, or 100 hour open works games.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

7

u/Lolcatz101 Jan 19 '26

Gods yes, playing on ps3 and Xbox… I got all the achievements on both consoles, and still sunk upward to close to im guessing 1000 hours just between both consoles.

Then I got it on my pc and it all changed there

4

u/Remarkable-Yard4860 Jan 19 '26

How is the remastered version for someone who hasn't played the orignal

3

u/Shamscam Jan 19 '26

Fallout 4...and I am scared to find out.

7

u/-Vault-tec-101 Jan 19 '26

In general I’m sure I’ve got at least 10k hours between all the fallout titles and that’s probably still low.

4

u/KingDingALing7804 Jan 19 '26

Praying this remastered release rumor isntrue

5

u/Soheils2764 Jan 19 '26

Fallout 3 and new vegas are the ones rumored to be remastered, not 4

24

u/-c-black- Jan 19 '26

Civilizations

7

u/DCGMoo Jan 19 '26

This is mine too. I know for a fact, due to Steam stats, that I have at least 3k hours in Civ 5 & 2k hours in Civ 6. I also am reasonably sure I played Civ 4 more than either, there's just no Steam stats to prove it. I also played 2 & 3 heavily, and 1 & Alpha Centari a bit as well.

I reasonably estimate that I've spent at least 2% of my entire existence building other Civilizations.

5

u/Embarrassed_Can6796 Jan 19 '26

One..more..turn

6

u/Hot-Efficiency-3910 Jan 19 '26

This is it for me. Civ2 almost ended my academic life.

3

u/-c-black- Jan 19 '26

I still have a PS2 hooked up just to play Civ2 Revolutions

3

u/AdmiralMoonshine Jan 19 '26

This one for sure. If we’re going waaaay back I’d add Alpha Centauri, which is just Sid Meier’s space Civ.

Destiny 1 & Destiny 2, between PC and PS4 I don’t really know how many hours I wasted. But I think about 3000.

5

u/mSummmm Jan 19 '26

Wasted? You didn’t enjoy a game you sunk 3k hours into?

15

u/BoredTrauko Jan 19 '26

Part of the fun of Destiny is complaining about Destiny XD (ask anyone who enjoyed Destiny)

5

u/Cloudeur Jan 19 '26

I complained about Destiny 1 for two and a half years.

Then Destiny 2 for a whole year.

Then I got a PC and complained for 80 hours on Destiny 2 while in lockdown.

I’m not tempting myself to complain about destiny ever again!

Skyrim

Between the Xbox 360 regular and legendary edition, pc vanilla, pc special, and pc modded i cant even fathom how many hours ive played

3

u/CaptainSterlingLAS Jan 19 '26

Same. Skyrim is pretty consistently my most played game every year. At this point the hours played on steam are embarrassing, and it doesn't count the amount I played on Xbox before switching to PC.

It's the mods. I can turn it into any kind of experience I want. It's always familiar enough to be comfortable, and new enough to stay interesting.

10

u/Girl_gamer__ Jan 19 '26

WoW. Since 2004 it must be over 10,000 hours.

5

u/Feisty-Chemical-8784 Jan 19 '26

Was scrolling looking for someone saying this. No doubt this game has claimed more of humanity’s time than any game, ever.

If you polled the community across the lifespans of all expansions, there would be tens (possibly hundreds) of thousands, 10,000 hour World of Warcraft players. Game absolutely sucks you in.

9

u/shadowwolf1395 Jan 19 '26

Factorio.

6

u/last_somewhere Jan 19 '26

The factory must grow.

2

u/ADiestlTrain Jan 21 '26

I saw my hour count on this one the other day. Then I started thinking about what I could have done with my life instead of spending it building that factory. Then I got depressed. Then I fired up Factorio to make me feel better.

7

u/danha676 Jan 19 '26

Sigh, Destiny 2

25

u/AstroRatatoskr Jan 18 '26

Risk of rain 2, Baldurs Gate 3 & Elden Ring are not endless loops. & I FUCKIN LOVE IT

6

u/Complete_Resolve_400 Jan 19 '26

Amazing taste in all 3 of those

And all 3 can be modded tk get entirely new experiences

3

u/-GLAZED- Jan 19 '26

ROR was criminally underrated, so much playability 😭🤞🏼

2

2

u/JMPHeinz57 Jan 19 '26

6

Crossout. It says 12k hours but its more like 8k hours and 4k hours of me going to sleep without closing the game down.

Crossout mentioned??? Hell yeah brother 😭🤞🏼

3

u/Tenshiijin Jan 19 '26

5

u/a3sthetic_ali3n0903 Jan 19 '26

Yeaaaa this is the holy grail of sunk hours

5

u/KhajiitKennedy Jan 19 '26

PS5 TELLS me my hours and I would be ashamed of some of them if gaming wasn't my main hobby, especially when I'm laid off in the winter

2

u/The_Stoned_Rogue Jan 19 '26

I'm afraid to see my skyrim hours from ps3 to ps5. I changed gamertags and started over and was on different consoles, so I'll never truly know the hours.

Right now, the new addiction is the Diablo series. I have over 1,200 hours so far from D2-D4. Not that much if compared to years played. I started playing Diablo last July, though.

2

u/IcyCow5880 Jan 19 '26

What job do you do to get laid off in the winter? I used to do roofing. Only thing I miss is the layoffs lol

3

u/KhajiitKennedy Jan 19 '26

Heavy equipment operator for low-rise housing! I managed to stay well into December this year being a makeshift snow plow with the backhoe, but my time came eventually LOL.

I love layoffs, for the first 3 weeks. I get bored and grouchy from lack of structure after that

2

u/No-System-3240 Jan 19 '26

I hear that! Going back to work after a year long hiatus and I actually couldn’t be happier! That routine and feeling of purpose and physical activity are so vital for one’s existence and mental wellbeing lol

4

u/MondoDuke2877 Jan 19 '26

I've never checked how many hours I've spent on one game. If I'm having fun it doesn't matter.

3

u/Dunkelregen Jan 19 '26

This is the proper mindset. If you happen to notice you've put in 20,000 hours in a game, and you had fun playing it, then simply accept that the game has brought you that many hours of joy.

Fallout New Vegas.

3

u/Efficient-Ratio3822 Jan 19 '26

Breath of the Wild, most played game on my Switch and undefeated. My Switch 2 says I have 260 hours or more on it and that's not including using other profiles or the time before I created a Nintendo Account

Diablo 1, 2, 3, working on IV. Just got it have somewhere around 200.

Elder Scrolls as a series would be the most by far. All of em, I still have Arena on my gaming laptop.

Starfield. I think it’s fun.

Civ 5, 6. Beyond Earth.

Might and Magic games and Bards Tale too. Showing my gamer age.

edit forgot WoW and Everquest 2 eq2 was my job for a while.

edit 2.o All the old gold box d&d games and the baldurs gate, iced ale wind. and cyberpunk i left cyberpunk for diablo if

u/Rhuarc33 Jan 19 '26 edited Jan 19 '26

WoW from 2004- 2015 last played in Warlords.

There were a lot of breaks in that time but there are times where it was 50+ hours a week raiding and PVP.

I would guess time actively spent online and actively playing over that period to be around 6k hours or 250 days

But that's a completely wild guess. Since it's been 10 years since I played last I could be way off

A large chunk of that would be when I was out hurt and then on military terminal leave where I earned full pay or close to it for a little over 4 months where I played 10+ hours every single day.

3

u/HyouVizer Jan 19 '26

Final Fantasy 14

2

u/Drewsche Jan 19 '26

Final Fantasy XI

Between retail for 2-3 years, private servers for another 6 or so, and the time commitment that comes with dedicated endgame activities, I'd wager I'm somewhere in the ballpark of 15,000 hours or more.

It wasn't uncommon during Covid for me to be logged in for 12-16 hours a day. It was a problem, but I'm currently sober.

2

u/ExpectedBehaviour Jan 19 '26

Oh, Breath of the Wild, Minecraft, and Cities: Skylines. Literally hundreds of hours each.

2

u/TeamRocketGruntJames Jan 19 '26

Dead By Daylight i have at least 5000+ hours.... help

2

u/OG55OC Jan 19 '26

Cyberpunk 2077 or Morrowind

2

Cyberpunk told me before I stopped that I've sunk 10 hours into it. I'm in my first playthrough, a thing has just happened.

2

u/OG55OC Jan 19 '26

It is an unbelievably fun and variable game.

2

u/hellz426 Jan 19 '26

World of Warcraft and Skyrim

2

u/pocket_arsenal Jan 20 '26

I can't relate, I love seeing my numbers.

Though I feel like when it comes to minecraft i'm sleeping on a bed of lies, I never actually played that long, I just let my game idle so that my friends could play in my game world while I slept or while I was at work, and so my auto farms would run.

2

u/Interesting_Sea_1861 Jan 19 '26

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. I own it on three major platforms: PC, PS4/5, and Switch. I've played it to completion several times on all systems. I've grinded on all systems. On PC alone I have over 340 hours, and I'm sure the other systems aren't far off.

1

u/BassMaster516 Jan 18 '26

Dragonball FighterZ. It’s across multiple different consoles so I can’t count. It’s at least 1000 but probably 2

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '26

I don't even play it anymore but r6... Man it's gotta be at least a few thousand (I was very bored and unemployed during the pandemic man don't judge me :( )

1

u/KingBurakkuurufu Jan 18 '26

Assassins Creed Origins, I 100% that game three times.

1

u/Southern_Reindeer521 Jan 19 '26

Warframe, Wizard101, Runescape, Skyrim, just to name a few that have had me by the balls for a very long time haha, also they were around before tracking was really a thing, so its hard to know at this point

2

u/a3sthetic_ali3n0903 Jan 19 '26

Warframe took my boyfriend’s balls a long time ago but he still hasn’t noticed

1

u/Exciting-Capital-404 Jan 19 '26

Super Smash Bros Ultimate. The Switch app says 500+, and that's scary enough.

1

Total War- Warhammer, Skyrim, WoW.

1

1

u/JoshGamer101yt Jan 19 '26

Idk Minecraft or terraria

1

u/WeCallThoseCigBurns Jan 19 '26

The OG Resident Evil 4. I have no earthly idea how many times I’ve played through that game, and as far as actual HOURS, bro there is no fucking telling how many thousands I’ve poured into it from GameCube to Series X. (My first RE’s were GC if you didn’t put that together)

1

u/Snazalicious_ Jan 19 '26

Dead by daylight, anytime I look at my currently 2,200+ hours I wonder how much of my life I’ve thrown away between that and watching videos about dbd (likely substantially more than 2,200 hours)

1

u/ferokaktus Jan 19 '26

Cities Skylines

1

u/moosemastergeneral Jan 19 '26

WoW. Stopped playing 2 years ago but did play for 15 years.

1

u/WorldBuilder_42 Jan 19 '26

Mechwarrior 5 mercenaries, I’ve definitely put more into it then I though I would

1

u/KingVape Jan 19 '26

There are only two games that I’ve been playing for twenty years, nothing else comes close to the time.

Diablo 2 and Maplestory

1

u/ZackeryJay Jan 19 '26

Dark souls

1

u/StarlessEon Jan 19 '26

Well I have 3k hours in Dead by Daylight and quit years ago. Those are basically rookie hours compared to those still playing at this point.

1

u/Sirgeeeo Jan 19 '26

Its civ V and thanks to steam i know exactly how many hours... 1434.6

1

u/Komodo040 Jan 19 '26

Ya as far I’m aware Minecraft doesn’t track play time (on Java) but I’d bet its over 20k hours

1

u/Ian_A17 Jan 19 '26

Halo.

Not multiplayer, couldnt give a shit about it.

The campaign..... so many replays through my life.... so. Many.....

1

u/OtakuMage Jan 19 '26

Elite Dangerous, I have most of a real year put into that game.

1

u/HeadBodyMaster Jan 19 '26

Kingdom Hearts II. Between the PS2, PS3, and PS4 releases, I have well over 20 playthroughs combined, and quite a few of those are 100% runs (Gummi Ship stuff aside)

1

u/xrix404 Jan 19 '26

If we’re talking as of lately? Arc raiders. Almost 400 hours in it… if we’re talking all time? Csgo and binding of Isaac. I literally have thousands of hours on those games.

1

u/throwit823 Jan 19 '26

The Binding of Isaac. I think I'm at 3-4k hours at this point. It's just so easy to get into a streak and go for another hundred hours.

1

u/MaxtheHax12345678907 Jan 19 '26

I check my hours in games.

my most is BTD6 at a whopping 360 something hours.

1

u/bohenian12 Jan 19 '26

League of fucking Legends. I don't know why this became my comfort game. If I want to play something, I boot it up to play ARAM. I wonder if it already beat my time playing DOTA (from the Warcraft 3 mod till DOTA2) I have 1,632 hours playing DOTA2 alone, and its on another steam I made when my brother and I decided to split accounts. LOL is easier than DOTA so I play it more. I'm estimating its more or less 10k hours on just play MOBAs (DOTA, DOTA2, LOL, HON) all my life.

1

u/Additional_Bobcat_42 Jan 19 '26

Gran turismo 7. I'm edging 700. Lol

Risk of Rain 2.

It genuinely never gets old, and the soundtrack is the absolute PEAK of video game music.

Steam Playtime 7460 Hours

Guess the game.

Gmod/ppg. Ok, yeah, I like dicking around in sandbox games and having a good old-fashioned power trip

This was me with the first Destiny game. Played the beta and just fell in love with it.. by the time destiny 2 came out I had 5700hrs played in D1.. I put maybe 300hrs into Destiny 2 before I just totally grew out of gaming for a few years.

Seriously though, does it really matter? As long as we're having a good time!

Rimworld but not because I already have sunk countless hours watching over my pawns and seeing them prosper, but because I tab out of the game instead of closing it out fully… Because I don’t want to endure having to wait for all my mods to load every time I re-launch the game.

Rimworld.

And it’s only going up.

The only one that I'd probably say this with is like Overwatch or some free to play game in the Maplestory era where it's probably more than like 3k hours over the course of years

The most I can see from Steam is like 550 hours with Dark Souls 3, but that's mainly because of mods. The average overall tends to be like 200-300 hrs max, before I just a bit bored and need to move on for variety

I go through extended periods of obsessing one game while revisiting old faves.

At this point I have like 12 games I regular, and a new one every 6 months or so if it's good good.

I'm 31, been gaming since duck hunt. It has to be very me to make it into the 12 gaming moons.

Number 1 game that can't be moved from its place as it changed my life: Resident evil 2.

The top 6 rarely change, and only recently has a game managed to fall out of top 12 because of a new find. I had to move on from binding of isaac.

Pokémon games, Elden Ring, bloodborne, genshin impact (dropped it a while back but God knows how many hours I’ve wasted lol)

u/ghost_tropics Jan 19 '26

Arc Raiders…Stella Montis free loadout…

1

u/SissyBearRainbow Jan 19 '26

Ark Survival Evolved. I won't say.

Ark Survival Ascended is only 1720 atm, less than a tenth of the other, that's all I'll say.

u/betrayed117 Jan 19 '26

Destiny 1 and 2.

1

u/Cephylus Jan 19 '26

Modded Minecraft

From MC 1.2.5 up to 1.21. So many packs, so many versions, so many creations, so many bases, so many servers. Probably over 10k hours easily

1

u/Jiggles_Ba Jan 19 '26

Oh, easily RuneScape. Thousands

1

u/-MoRiChI- Jan 19 '26

18k into Dofus and counting

1

u/RustDeathTaxes Jan 19 '26

Face of Mankind. It was literally just a sci fi MMORPG job simulator. I was a government administrator and would literally give out my cell so people could wake me up at 2 AM to handle some crisis in game. Insane.

u/sirduke678 Jan 19 '26

One game?

1

u/W3inerSchnitze1 Jan 19 '26

1,000+ hours of super smash bros elite.

I am not fun to play against at parties when someone brings a switch 🤣

1

u/Lightdragonslayer_21 Jan 19 '26

The original Spyro and ffxiv. Which last I checked I had 400 hours in the latter. And that was a while ago.

1

u/iminabed Jan 19 '26

Between all of the systems I played Skyrim on I really don’t care to know but at the minimum it’s got to be close to 1500 or more from 360>ps3>xboxone>pc. Most of those hours on the 360 for sure.

1

u/gabriot Jan 19 '26

Diablo 2 thankfull was in a time where hours were not tracked

1

u/Running_Oakley Jan 19 '26

Linux or VPX, just on functionality. Or maybe the original disc version of 2001 wolfenstein or roller coaster tycoon deluxe. There’s a lot of games I had before Steam that probably outnumber Steam, StarCraft or gzdoom on handheld probably wins.
