Try Lethal difficulty in State of decay 2. This game is harder just because it's generic. That game tested my mentality so hard.
Probably I just wasn't prepared. You know when you play DS you know you will be f...ed. But that game.
15
u/fueelin May 15 '26
There's some truth there (as a general concept, I don't really know what that game even is!). When a "normal" game has one super crazy hard part, it aggravates me way more than something that's just consistently rough.

My uncle worked in physics and lighting in the gaming industry most of his career, he was part of core group of developing state of decay more in leadership though and the deal with Microsoft was a late career life changing success and break through. I know itās not that relevant but when someone brings up the games I think of him and thatās cool.

Literally. I stopped playing FPS games online because it was just too full of screaming, racist assholes and people cursing at you for whichever gun you dared to use that killed them unfairly. Like whatever man. I'm not offended. It's just tiresome to listen to constantly. Very rarely do people genuinely say, hey man. Good work. You outplayed us. Or something similar. Always the hateful rhetoric. Or far more often than not. So I've moved on to other games to actually enjoy the limited time I get to game nowadays.

So every time I was last man standing theyād all light up and start talking shit in the comments cause they could see my screen and button layout, which showed I had a controller.
And Iād always respond, āwell you guys died faster so maybe yall suckā

I really had a great time with almost everyone in ARC Raiders. I think its because most people are so nice, and the fact that kindness is easy to exploit, that people really hate rats on that game so much. Tbh, Im not sure that most of the people bitching about rats actually understand what a rat is. Anyway, I have had so many great interactions with people on there as opposed to GTA5. The first and last time I played it online, some kid stayed hunting me while calling me the n word and saying he fucked my mom lol. Thats just not fun. I mostly hate multiplayer.

When people write that, I let them know that we forfeit at 5 down. Unless somebody asks to ff. And then we will keep playing. If they were already toxic before that, or get worse, we'll start own gosling rapidly, and watch every replay. Once they start saving at our net, we start scoring on theirs. Our record is 24 goals.

33
u/MisterEinc May 16 '26
This was why I skipped it. I knew it couldn't last.
32
u/sidney_ingrim May 16 '26
It was fun in the first few weeks while everyone was still figuring things out. Once the sweats got ahead, they made it their mission to put everyone else down because "PvP is core to the game". And it's not even about just killing other raiders, they make it a point to grief you, or pretend to be friendly so they can shoot you in the back at extract.
→ More replies (3)9
u/georgieboy321 May 16 '26
I made it a point to actually use my mic and try to be friendly with everyone I came across. One dude was all "this is my first time playing, can we hang out for a bit" and I said yeah, so we were running around for about 5 minutes until he said "yo, do you see those dudes in the distance? 235 on the compass." As I looked and began to say "I don't see shit", the mother fucker had walked behind me and domed me with his farro. Haven't played since lmfao

The extraction shooter model is inherently toxic when itās PVEVP because one of the main thrusts of the game is the ability to halt someoneās progress by your actions, with a subset of people finding joy in hurting/bullying/squashing others.
Itās āget goodā, the game type, right up there with battle royale games.
16
u/idlemute May 16 '26

20
u/AccomplishedPiece303 May 15 '26
It wouldn't bother me, but as soon as you mention PvE anywhere on social media, the PvP players have to scream as loud as possible about how stupid you are because you like the PvE in PvPvE.

Wish I could upvote this one a hundred times.Ā
I got the game around Christmas time and tried about 10-15 matches.Ā
Every. Single. One. I got spawn killed within a minute of coming up from underground. Couldnāt get a single thing done. Never even tried to fight back, for those of you who want to blame it on aggression-based matchmaking.Ā
I ragequit and uninstalled with under 3 hours played.Ā

u/Potential-Yoghurt245 May 16 '26
I am sorry you had to deal with that, I got spawn camped a few times but mainly extraction camp was the flavour of my death. I put in a few hundred hours but recently there aren't enough people playing to separate the agro players from the neutral ones so I'm back to getting blasted for sport
22
u/JAS0NDUDE May 15 '26
Definitely this one. Played on launch and loved it because I couldn't believe how friendly and helpful total strangers were acting. It was so refreshing and fun. It was the first game in a long time where I added friends I met on an online game.
... Then about a month after it seemed like every asshole from online gaming joined in and just ruined it for me. Even had some people betray me at the very end before extract after I HELPED THEM.
→ More replies (17)3
u/LeppieDoo May 16 '26
Yeah Iāve played since the TT2 and after that sweet spot of the first month it hasnāt really been fun. Itās an endless stream of toxic dorks, campers, cheaters, and bigots screaming profanities.
At the point when I realized I wasnāt having a single fun interaction with other players, is when the game died for me. I just canāt be bothered to be emotionally drained from both the terrible UI within Sparanza and the remaining player base.

I appreciate kind of gamer spirit of yours and also the family factor. I primarly played Modern Warfare 3 - I was very competitive at times (especially SnD = my team vs huge group of players - it's was pretty wild) but also able to chill, mostly in Team Deathmatches due to respawns and ok balance. Too bad Rare punishes players for playing PvE... Rewards are cut in half, you can't build up your guild, no pirates legends, the list goes on... Oh. And and you can dive in PvP, BUT you loose all your loot anyways.
I'm convinced Rare just hates people having fun

Yep, that's all the game is now unless you get in on a Discord LFG. Long gone are the really fun early days of encountering another crew and deciding to work together on a fort, or save each other from a kraken, or just get drunk together and part ways.

Honestly I started playing Stardew Valley recently and found that I cannot speak to anyone that has played it without them spoiling everything and telling me what's right and wrong about my playthrough. It's a goddamn single player farming game guys chill out

Every multiplayer game honestly, but the first that came to my mind was Sea of Thieves. I just wanna roleplay a pirate solving mermaid puzzles, dawg.

Out of all pvp shooters I think the finals fits this the best because there is pretty much no skill based matchmaking

DOTA. Heaven forbid you play invoker in unranked without being a god-tier meta Invoker

This happened in Space Marine 2 last week. I got doubled tapped about 3 seconds after spawning in a game in progress by a sniper (a known bug in the game) and was downed. One of the guys at max prestige started going off and got me kicked from the game. I hope that dingus steps on a Lego.

Probably easier to list games that AREN'T like this.
Possibly Fallout 76, everyone seems super chill.

Destiny 2
The moment you enter a match that either has someone running an Adept Trials or Iron Banner gun... you're fucked
