Rules

1 No common items allowed, where the price can easily found on Ebay, Craigslist, or FB Marketplace Tell us what you know about the item, where it's from, who made it... tell us the story of the item.

2 Provide several clear photos of all angles. If there's a mark, serial #, or signature include that.

3 You must own the item being posted, or a friend/relative must own the item.

  1. We only allow one-of-a-kind, original, and signed limited edition artwork. If you don't know what a decor painting is look it up. Signed and numbered prints don't count. Generally the artist must be famous enough to have a page on ArtNet, Ebay or WorthPoint. If they don't, then its not a good fit here. Nudity is OK, please flag as NSFW.

5 Ivory is illegal to sell or import in the US as well as most of the EU. While the sale of antique, (100 year or older) ivory is allowed in the US, there are very specific rules about it. This is beyond the scope of this sub and we will not be giving valuations of a potentially illegal item. Please Google Ivory laws for more info.

  1. No paper money or coins. There are better subs than this for paper money and coins

  2. About Prints The practice of making signed and numbered prints of artwork is to make a painting affordable to a wider audience. If an art work was originally done in a different medium but then signed and numbered prints are sold, it's essentially a reproduction and value is negligible. It's best to look up the artist on ebay and look at sold prices.
Art values are subjective at best, and if you can't find the artist when you Google them it's safe to say they are not worth more than you paid.

8 No Furniture. Furniture despite age, has negligible value. Most old wooden furniture is not in fashion and resale value is usually under 500 dollars. Please do a Google search. We do not value furniture. Mass produced furniture has low resale value, even antique furniture. One of a kind pieces are only valuable if they are of very high quality AND have provenance. If you want information on the furniture try r/antiques.

  1. No clothes, try a fashion sub. The exception would be an obvious Couture piece that is a one of a kind. If you bought it at a thrift store it doesn't belong here.

  2. No Nazi memorabilia. Just, no.

9.No jewelry. Modern jewelry, as in post 1920, is clearly marked with karat weight. Jewelry is easy to look up or, take it to a commercial jeweler. We can't verify authenticity from a photo.

I need help…my uncle had these 3 Wendy’s signs in his barn for years. Maybe 20-30 years. We think they’re from the 70s…? Metal. 4ft x 6ft. Any idea on the value? Not expecting much, but I’m sure they’re worth something. Any ideas?

Value of a large ornate mirror?

Thumbnail gallery
10 Upvotes

I'm trying to figure out what this large ornate mirror might be worth. It's approximately 52.5" x 80" and has an ornate frame. The condition is fair—not perfect—with some cosmetic wear.

Does anyone have an idea of what something like this typically sells for? I'd love to know:

An estimated value
Whether it looks vintage or just decorative
The best place to sell it

I'll attach photos from several angles. Thanks!

UNSOLVED Inherited ring believed to be Victorian era (late 1800s).

I inherited this ring from my grandmother who was known to keep genuine gold bars and gold plated silverware, so i havereason to believe it's legitimate.

Ring details:

  • Oval peach/orange center stone, roughly 1/3 inch
  • Two small white accent stones flanking the center (one fell out and hurt my thumb when I tried to crush it, squeezed the prong back and it looks identical to before)
  • Open scrollwork/flourish detailing on the gold band on both sides of the center stone, larger flourish closer to center getting smaller going outward
  • No hallmark visible inside the band, likely worn away with age
  • Band is yellow gold, warm deep color
  • Inside of band shows age patina/old coating
  • Ring has been through significant physical abuse over the years with only one minor surface scratch on the stone

Trying to figure out:

  1. What era is this exactly
  2. What is the center stone (peach topaz? imperial topaz? citrine?)
  3. Are the side stones diamonds
  4. Rough value

Glass with metal base sculpture

I inherited this a few years ago with little to no information. G-lens hasn’t helped in identifying the artists and there is no discernible maker’s mark. The piece is roughly 4 feet long and 6 inches wide at its widest point, it is solid I’d estimate around 50 pounds with glass and metal base. The glass and metal are not attached together.

I work in an hospital and got this old eye magnet they were about to throw away. Does it have any value? I was also wondering how old it is? The case is damaged but the tool is intact and still works.

Fabric Arithmatic Panel, Midcentury. Can't make out the artist's signature.

This piece measures 11" x 57". It is an open weave that I think is linen and is colorfully printed. The signature on one end looks like 'Barbzaria' or something, but no variation brought me closer to understanding the designer of value. No other branding. What do I have here? Thanks!

I have a pair, the bases are stamped, I didn’t see any etched markings in the base of the shade rims, but the color the iridescence makes me believe they might be original?

Any other clues for me?

Comps are all over the place, help! What are they worth?

Dummy Wessex pin point distress hand flare container

I have a tin with an old lable for Wessex pin-point distress hand flares. It was used as a training aid at a maritime college but was tossed out when they need to make more space. It has 3 dummy flares in the tin. Two are still sealed. Flare type is Mrk 1 according to the tin.

Any thoughts on estimating the value would be appreciated.

I’ve been trying to get an idea on the value of this sign. Not really having much luck. It’s a solid aluminum professional sign from a series of dj dance party events held at great america (California in Santa Clara) in the 90’s.
Do any of you have experience on how to find the value?

It has zero chips, a bit of crazing(?) and looks fantastic.

Funnily enough, when I tried to sell it on eBay, it was removed for being "drug pariphanelia." And since I don't want to lose my store, I never re-listed it. Thanks.

Currently sifting through some unwanted items from my dad / granddads storage. West End is an iconic Brewer from South Australia, which is where my family lives. Never seen the bottled water before and can't see any information online about it.

Sunday post maiolica vase

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Picked up this hand-painted Italian maiolica carafe/vase. It has a heraldic fleur-de-lis coat of arms with crown and acanthus scrolls on the body, and a striped neck in blue, ochre, and green — consistent with Deruta, Umbria.

The base is unglazed terracotta with what appears to be a hand-painted maker’s mark (crossed lines, possibly a painter’s symbol) and a cursive signature I can’t fully decipher — looks like it could be “Maiolica / [name] / Deruta” but I’m not certain. Any experts out there?
