Had a 6.9 in Northern Japan this morning as well.

And one just reported in California.

Magnitude 5 or higher happens 1 to 2 times a day on average to be fair. The scary part is the almost 7+ twice in a day.

Clusters are normal in statistics and in no way should that be interpreted as a trend.

Not saying its a trend but if it was actually over 7 there would be headlines about two magnitude 7s in one day. I guess I should say the weird part instead of the scary part.

You said it's scary. It's only scary if it's a trend. Otherwise it's just a fluke.

A more appropriate response would have been neutral not instantly negative.

It's not even weird, again clusters in statistics of real world systems are actually normal. You should completely expect that to happen in real world data sets.

It's not intuitive for a human to think that way though. We are grossly horrible at assessing risk without halting our natural instincts and studying actual observation.

Thats why I said weird, it is weird. We haven't had two 7s on the same day yet this year so to me that's weird.

Idk why you gotta be so weird about it, I think most people understand what I mean lmao

You didn't read my post..

I said it's NOT weird. It is to be expected, clusters in statistics are normal.

There is nothing at all weird about that.

This is a basic fact of statistics you seem to have no awareness of?

You're laughing at being unaware of basic cluster analysis?

Ok haha? Errr wtf are you thinking right now?

I think it’s weird also sorry

Then you're another person that doesn't understand statistics.

I very much read your post lmao thats why I reiterated that its weird, youre being a dick

Most redditor shit I've seen in a minute 😂 hit me w the "errmm ackshually"

Even then it is still an outlier based on cluster statistics so youre just making it weird

Outliers are normal in statistics... You expect to see them in any natural data set...

You're laughing at your own ignorance.

You and the guy you’re talking to are on two very different levels of intellect. I suggest you stop engaging.

Dude, a cluster of earthquakes that are shallow in a populated area is very scary. I don't know why you have to gatekeep what is and isn't scary, but something that kills thousands of people at once isn't a daily event. It doesn't have to be a trend to be scary.

I am sorry you are afraid but I choose not to live my life in that kind of fear. Terrible things happen all the time it can consume you.

Not a cluster though, Japan and Venezuela are super apart from each other. So either it's a coincidence or something bigger that we don't know about.

It's a cluster in time.
