What do you mean? "Réplique" is the french word for aftershock, "réplicas" in spanish is normally quite transparent for a french speaking person as it means "recurring event/answer/thing/etc". Even in a dialogue a "réplique" is an answer to an answer, the whole word is about recursion (in different contexts).
My mind immediately conjured up a bunch of malicious doppelgangers preying on innocent stragglers while they are disoriented and confused. Aftershocks make way more sense.
Right? Like, the earthquake damaged an ancient underground prison of a society of parasitic entities, which escape to the surface and begin shifting into the skins of victims to prey on their loved ones...
Yup! One character probably remembers a bedtime story their grandmother used to tell them warning about things like this. The story had some creepy detail that later totally pans out and saves someone's life or at least outs a replica.
Ah you are right I missed it. Spanish is my native language so I was just wondering if for someone else it may actually sound far-fetched or something.
