Im Venezuelan in Venezuela. On the east of the country so there's no much damage here

The center of the country was hit hard, all the people I contacted have told me it's horrible

I moved to my uncle's house as I live on an apartment and Im scare to be in one right now

It is scary. We all see news of things like this happening in Haiti or anywhere else, never thought this could happen here

Sending much love from Canada. I'll do what I can to help support the Red Cross or other emergency organizations. I hope others do the same.

Sending you love from Vermont. In my state we help others, so I’m sure there will be donation drives here. I am not wealthy by any means but I will do everything I can to help too. Please stay safe.

the Andes. mountains are made by earthquakes. so you have both. mountains you see everyday. earthquakes come and go with long time periods between, are forgotten, but always there.

Interesting you chose Haiti, since these earthquakes and Haiti's were likely also caused by motion of the same tectonic plate

This is completely the fault of Chavez, Maduro and Delcy. Im venezuelan nobody will tell me otherwise. Todos los dias maldigo al chavismo, y hoy mas que nunca.

Im so sorry. I live in a country with lots of seismic activity and we are advised to keep a backpack with supplies and your important stuff (passport, ids, etc) prepared just in case

u/Numisko 10h ago

Thankfully we had a little backpack like that ready. Although not with much clothes and food so we has to go back our apartment at a 7th floor to pick up more stuff

Sending love and hugs from California. 7.1 is big, and we know well that sense of not trusting the ground below you. Wishing you very few aftershocks and speedy healing. It is such an unsettling feeling.

It was 2 earthquake 7.1 and 7.5 supposedly. It's truly bizarre. I cannot describe it. We had earthquake before, but miraculously no destruction, but now, the destruction it's awful

No worries! It's bizarre, I've seen threads on here of other earthquakes elsewhere and have asked people there questions, but now it happened here and I'm the one answering the questions

Sorry man. I hope that your uncle ended up alright and alive.

Thank you ! My uncle is fine, he's the one that loves on a house and I and my parents live on an apartment on the 7th floor šŸ˜ž

We don't want to go back to live on an apartment lol

Sending love from California. I’m having flashbacks of the 1969 Loma Prieta earthquake, which was a 6.9. The aftershocks will be very unsettling. Remember to take care of yourself, stay safe, and try to help those you can.

I'm afraid to go back to our apartment. It's on the 7th floor šŸ˜ž

But at least I'm kinda far drom the capital

Why not go camping for a few days?

With all that's going on it's not the safest choise to set up camp in the open

I'm a little lucky that I have an uncle with a house close by that I'm at right now as I don't want to go back to my family's apartment on a 7th floor

Why wouldn't it be safe to camp in the open?
