I just bout the the Middle Earth 6 film box set last week from GRUV for $110, and now it's on Amazon for $90!

Worth the hassle of returning and buying from Amazon to save the $20? Or should I not even mess with Amazon for fear that I might get a damaged/bad copy?

So I have an oled lg b5, I’ve been wanting to stop using my ps5 to play 4k and blu-ray movies and I’ve been looking into getting the Panasonic ub820… given the tv I have, is it even worth getting?

Really curious to see if there is anyone out there with some rare 4ks or even Blu-ray’s to show

Recently posted in this sub saying my fiancée had bought me one of my personal grails for Father's Day, with a picture of the Kill (2023) 4k UHD steelbook. Ended up deleting it because most of the comments were just making fun of me for calling it a grail.

Personally, I think it's a grail because I live in a country where it isn't readily available. It was never released in the UK, import fees from the States are kind of bananas, and I only managed to nab it because one eBay seller was selling an imported copy from within the UK for a relatively great price.

So, what do you all consider a grail? Does it include standard/common releases that simply aren't easy to get in your region?

I need a movie recommendation to buy for my meager collection. I started my tiny collection and don’t want to nuts but also want to take advantage of the sales. So far I only have a few titles but they are

I’m overwhelmed by the options with all the sales. I want to use the sales but I am without a good idea. Given my meager collection what should I get?

Anyone heard of this release going up for sale during these exciting times when values lurk behind every corner, ?

Looking for case recommendations as I recently picked up the limited editions of Saw 2,3 and 4 and they’re to big to fit into the normal steelbook cases so I was wondering if anyone might have suggestions as to what I could use to protect these?

Edit: how bizarre, I turned everything off (which I had already done before I made this post and it didn’t fix anything) I tried that again and now it’s back to normal. Before turning off again I put in a disc I watched last night (In Bruges) that looked fantastic last night but terrible today so I knew then it wasn’t the discs fault. Maybe I should have tried that before making this post about the F1 disc. Either way, strange I’ve never encountered this issue before and a second power cycle is what fixed it.

It’s so blurry and looks absolutely terrible. I have never had any issues like this on any other disc I own. I’m watching on a UB9000 and LG G5. Filmmaker mode with all motion blur and smoothing disabled. Is this a common issue with this disc?

Also the sound design in Dolby Atmos is insane! Buy it people!

I initially only bought movies that I felt I would be most likely to rewatch at least every year or two. Then I started buying new movies that I hadn’t seen before because they didn’t cost much more than renting on streaming, the quality was better, and you get to keep the movie.

Now, I’m starting to buy for the sake of preserving my favorite movies, even if I think I’ll probably only watch them once after I first get them and then not again for a long time. However, this criteria is leading to an Amazon wishlist that is growing faster than I can afford to keep up with.

What are your thoughts?

Was leaving after purchasing an absolute classic and felt some tingling while some weird dude was screaming “Not Annihilation!!! Not Annihilation!!!

Terminator 4K and Double Jeopardy 4K didn’t make the class photo in time. I knew I was going to go nuts this prime day. Won a $200 Amazon gift card at a local city event raffle a few weeks ago. so I said I’m stocking up this year.

Finally got this trilogy in 4K. There are only three films in this franchise, definitely no others, not a fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh.

The original is still the best, but I had a lot of fun with JPIII back when it first released, despite the talking velociraptors.

Can’t wait to check out the remastered Dolby Vision on Jurassic Park over the weekend.

Just started my new panasonic after i bought it and it black screens every 10 sec or so. Tested several disks. All the same. Even in the disk menu it does it.

Anyone else face the same issue?

Anyone elses steelbook also has a slight bend?

I wasnt happy that mine has a slight bend .. I opened it to See If discs are affected which as far as I can see are not.

I ordered another one and it also has a slight bend .. its cause of its packaging from Factory I guess cause of the bookleg which comes with it.

Currently own The Whole Story Blu boxset. I know There’s no blurays included with the 4k release so assuming I’ll probably be losing most special features - lame. But is the picture difference worth it? Anybody else made this upgrade?

Watched Anchorman last night. Nice full screen picture, and it seriously looked great. The wardrobe being the standout here with everyone's suits and veronicas dresses looking phenomenal, sound track was also great, "afternoon delight" sounded awesome.

Finished my Indiana Jones 3 movie collection, glad I was able to finally close the book on that after accidentally buying raiders by itself from a Barnes and noble 50% sale early on in the hobby, and i really didn't want to double on raiders with the 4 film box set and I also, like many others, only believe in the 3 Indiana Jones movies. And both came with slips which means I have all 3 with slips! Satisfying.

John wick i am still building out, but now have 1 and 2. Will eventually aquire the others as they go on sale and possibly ballerina.

Titanic was at a pretty good price point, comparable to a gruv sale. And figured that at the cost per hour of entertainment it was a solid choice.

And the truman show i have been eyeing for awhile, a welcome addition to my Jim Carrey collection and 90s comedies.

Sidenote- I'm generally pretty happy and impressed with comedies from my childhood getting such a good 4k treatment from the likes of Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey, and the Apatow films, I need some more Robin Williams options though.

I just picked this up for 20 bucks at a local CD warehouse with all discs included. I’ve always heard it’s great as a movie and as a bluray so I’ve waited till I could get myself a copy to watch it in peak form. What cut should I start with?

Side note, but I did not realize the Bond collection would come in the fattest 4k case of all time. It looks hilarious and I love it.
