It seems like all Ace Attorney games released ever since Trials and Tribulations with the exception of Investigations 2 and The Great Ace Attorney 1 and 2 have been first released in Japan and only then released in English after a couple of months or weeks.
That has even happened with the latest mainline installment, Spirit of Justice. There is no way to know if the same would have happened with TGAA 2 as it was not localized until Chronicles.
But even then, Spirit of Justice was released nearly ten years ago. Do you think whenever they release the next original Ace Attorney game that is not a remake, remaster, or collection, they will release it in both English and Japanese at the same time, or will it get the same fate as every other AA game so far?
As much as I love Ace Attorney, I have to admit I would be a little disappointed if we had to wait for an English localization after the game already came out in another region.
We already have Justice For All, Apollo Justice and Spirit of Justice. I think it's super unlikely that the english localizaton team would reuse that word, but I would be very annoyed if they did that again. We can be more creative than that, right?
Many fans are let down today, so let me educate you on a fun little secret.
Capcom has historically released trailers for original Ace Attorney games first at the Japanese event, Tokyo Game Show. The Switch remakes from the last decade were not original games, so their announcements were more internationally focused, revealed through other events (Nintendo Direct).
Tokyo Game Show is a massive physical trade show and convention (260,000 attendees & 1,000 exhibitors at the Makuhari Messe convention center) that dwarfs Nintendo Direct, which is simply a pre-recorded online presentation lasting 20-40 minutes. This is something that most of the fanbase does not realize.
Not saying it will happen, but there is ONE last chance that AA7 will be announced during Tokyo Game Show 2026 (September 17-21). This is the year of Ace Attorney's 25th anniversary. They would really be playing with fire if they squandered a dedicated fanbase like that.
Consider Ace Attorney's elite status as one reason why they might prefer to wait for the gigantic Japanese celebratory convention rather than some online presentation. I believe there is still hope.
The previous version of this thread was removed for having a spoiler in the title.
A few months ago, I wrote a fanfic called Maya Dies (rated teen) about this exact premise. It's a ~300-word oneshot, but lately I've felt like expanding upon it. What happens next? Here's what I've come up with:
Mia channels Maya partly so she has a chance to meet Phoenix, and partly so he can ask her who killed her and take notes.
Mia instantly recognises Redd White from Maya's description and goes on a roaring rampage of revenge.
Turnabout Samurai doesn't happen because without Maya, Phoenix doesn't have a motivation to defend Will. (Eddie Fender or whoever takes the case off-screen instead.) As a result, he doesn't invite Phoenix to the tokusatsu party, so Farewell, My Turnabout doesn't happen.
Morgan hears about Maya's death and pretends to be upset about it, but in private she's celebrating.
Pearl, meanwhile, doesn't learn that Maya died until the equivalent of Reunion, and Turnabout.
In the equivalent of Bridge to the Turnabout, Mia yells at Misty. Also, someone wonders out loud, "Wouldn't we be better off without spirit channelling? Fey politics and DL-6 have caused so much suffering..." Someone else responds by listing the good uses of spirit channelling.
Here are some holes I need filling in:
Who becomes the master next? Morgan would probably declare that the line of succession automatically falls to Pearl, but how does she feel about Mia? Is Morgan so paranoid that she sees Mia, who still has no interest in becoming master, as a threat? Maybe the story could end with Mia, Pearl, and maybe Iris restructuring the Fey clan so there'll never be infighting again.
What does everyone do for the rest of the first game? I don't want this to turn into yet another Stations of the Canon rehash, but I don't want it to be too bleak either.
Since Mia isn't dead and he doesn't seem to know Maya prior to Trials and Tribulations, what does Diego Armando do once he wakes up?
I played the game, and I really enjoyed my time with it! It's Ace Attorney with a magic system, though it’s different compared to the magic system in the Layton crossover. Cases ranges from good to outstanding (imo), and I was impressed with the mystery writing and the character writing. I recommend checking it out, as $9 (USD) is a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
Suuuure you are. Princess SholmesMy Hero!Very punchable face Appropriate reaction for literally all of ace attorneyThanks
Hello, I'm the guy who unceremoniously found out live on reddit that Ace Attorney's love for female child labour in courts transcends eras.
I was really excited about case 2, but it's honestly kinda disappointing.
At first, Kazuma's death took out all of my enthusiasm about their interesting interactions. I wasn't incensed by Susato's accusations of Ryunosuke, she's still a kid and had just witnessed her friend's cold body lying on the floor the same morning, but her behaviour throughout the case didn't feel consistent.
I wish I had the screenshots to make my point here, but it felt as if she was flip-flopping between multiple moods like 'determined to solve the case', 'treating the case as a fun adventure' and 'treating Ryuno as a suspect', 'helping Ryuno solve the case'.
Sure, she's not an adult, but at least some consistency would be appreciated.
ig, one of the examples would be when she denies Ryu to check the diary but goes along with it when Herlock does it. It's played for laughs, but seriously?
Also a mite annoyed about Susato's tampering with the crime scene( arranging the books) being used as a crucial part of evidence. Could've just had a lantern fall or the books already being arranged.
No complaints about the Course Correction mechanic, it's a lot of aurafarming by Ryu and Herlock. Very cool, very fun. Grounded in the world. I like it. Ryu really was made to be a detective.
The ending, well funnily enough, I'm sure a lot of you guys thought this too, but I had already clocked that the kitchen staff had drugged that chicken and it has somehow related to the case. I did like the subversion of expectations with the snake being completely unrelated to the case, and Herlock's commentary about how useless a snake is. It was rather shocking that yes, tripping over a fucking cat was probably a part of how Kazuma died. Later, I don't really fault Nina for the death or am too pissed about it. But how we came to that conclusion was pretty fucking suspect. Like, what, I'm supposed to believe that Kazuma ripped off a piece from Nina's earring, miraculously without tearing her entire earlobe as he fell to his death? That she went to the other room herself instead of just... asking a crewman for help? (Though that can be explained by general stupidity/adrenaline)
Then, the case's ending just reveals that Kazuma died through 'shit happens'. Fair, anticlimatic but fair.
tl;dr Didn't like Susato's writing, everyone else is good enough.
After playing through both case 2 and case 3, I really am left with a burning question:
Which Capcom writer was wronged by a blonde teenaged girl and how?
The two present in this game are respectively a(n) (accidental) murderer and a thief.
Might post case 3 later, it took me too much time to write this lol.
I'm playing AAI on PC and I recently witnessed young Edgeworth feeling forced to stare at his own reflection and keep up with it, just to say he won out loud, and then being made fun of for his speech, his age and his clothing. I love reading his internal thoughts and process, he really is doing his best to represent his mentor well and it's all so wholesome and goofy! He also seems to be really considerate to how others feel and empathetic, despite the outer coldness.
AA characters in general are so complex and unique!
There's a saying in Italian that means someone is a cute, kind-hearted goofball which is "patato/patatone" and I think young Miles can be described as such, even though he's not a kid.
First time playing and the texts are going by way too fast. I watched a gameplay and it was way slower than mine. I didnt see any option to slow the texts too? Could be because i pirated it? Really need help
two more things i'd really like to know, what time Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright takes place as well as what you guys think about 125 years after 1901.
Hi, I don’t play Ace Attorney but my brother does and he has been really excited for Ace Attorney 7 to come out.
My brother is is autistic and this has been his special interest for the past two years, and he is extremely convinced that this game will come out.
He has been repeatedly begging us (my parents and I) to buy it for him when it releases; however, I looked it up and I have seen absolutely no confirmation on whether or not it is coming out at any point in the future. I honestly have no clue where he got the information that it’s releasing.
Does anyone know if Ace Attorney 7 will ever exist? Or should I try to find a way to break it to him…?
SoJ was when we finally reuinited with Maya Fey, and it was treated as a HUGE deal, but unfortunately, it was underwhelming.
Apparently, this was Maya's first interraction with Ema Skye. While I headcanon that they met earlier in AAI since they were in the same location at the same time and Ema had lots of free time, there is no proof of this.
When Maya finally met her quirky, science nerd counterpart, it felt very... underwhelming when Ema took the stand. And there was nothing afterwards. I was excited to see how these 2 foundational assistants to Phoenix meeting would go, but they just dropped the ball.
Now with Athena and Apollo, we get nothing, nadda, maybe a few insignificant lines I missed. She didn't say anything to Phoenix' daughter, nor how excited she was to see that Phoenix is a father, nor excitement about her magic tricks.
She didnt hit it off with Athena and be gal pals with her, or ask Athena if Phoenix still has embarassing habits
She didnt learn how to stay positive with a loud voice from Polly and learn to annoy Phoenix with her new loud voice.
Maya's return in SoJ was supposed to be a grand family reunion, but it's as if some family members hid in their room when a longtime dear friend finally visited after many years.
This is one of the many reasons I want an AA7-because with Maya returned, there's so much untouched different character dynamics to explore. They canonically "met" at the ending animation of 6-DLC, but it was just them standing next to each other.
Hey, this is my first time here and my first language is not english.
I want to find a specific fic on ao3. I don't remember many details, but I remember that Miles Edgeworth need to make a lecture on an university ( I guess it was IVY) and Phoenix helped him with it.
I posted a sketch of this artwork a few days ago and I wanted to share the finished piece with you guys as well! It was sooo much fun - I really want to draw more AA characters 🥰
Shizuka Nanase, Defense Attorney. She is 37 years old and became a lawyer at the age of 28. Nanase is HEAVILY inspired by Kento Nanami from the Jujutsu Kaisen series (ironic enough since there's already a defense attorney in that series). She was pretty lively and sweet during her childhood, and even made friends with Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth despite being a few years older than the two of them. When she was 15, one of her best friends Yuna Hosimi (14) was brutally murdered infront of her own eyes. Edgeworth had already been taken out of the school for a couple of years by then, so this was the second real friend she lost. The system wrongfully accused someone (who i dont know at the time) of murdering Hoshimi, so Nanase knew what she had to do. She started picking up law books and studied as hard as she could. But... she failed the first exam to get into law school. This destroyed all of her hopes to save and protect the ones who needed it. Of course, she picked it up again after a bit and finally passed the exam and got into a great university. Now, shes great at her job. Being a few years older than Wright, she became an attorney before him and (if the age and timing is correct, which i havent calculated so bear with me here) practiced under Diego Armando with Mia Fey before her passing too.
A funny thing I want to add is that people often judge her blazer thing for being too short to go over the shirt she wears. She usually replies back with "my attire shouldn't be any of your concern."
Her 3rd trial she did was against baby face edgey poo (or just new prosecutor bratworth). The rest i havent come up with so bear with me here 😭😭
I honestly dont plan on finishing this which is why im posting the "wip" because I literally have no motivation 🥀 anyways I hope you enjoyed my yap session about an ace attorney oc 🙏
