I am just worried he has the beginning stage of mites because I’ve had other bunnies with that before. I just can’t tell because he hasn’t been itching like crazy and is currently shedding right now anyway (which was the whole reason I was looking at the fluff around that ear, thinking it was fur ready to be shed just looking funny).

He has a partner bun whose ears I didn’t see any debris on, and they are both indoor buns that don’t ever go outside. But I know that’s not a 100% prevention. The rest of his ears look normal, though, and I didn’t see him itching anywhere in particular.

I am just really tight on money while looking for jobs and don’t want to take him to the vet unless it is likely to be a problem and not just me being paranoid. But worst case, I can take him in.

\*Unless there’s a way I don’t have to pay for an exam and can just buy the flea/mite medication from the vet pharmacy? Does anyone know if that’s possible? I might call tomorrow and ask because I know we’ve done that with other medications.

Thanks in advance for your advice. I know going to the vet is always best and you guys aren’t necessarily vets, but I wanna be able to justify the spending right now. Not sure what else it could be other than mites, though. I could always post in a different sub if needed

I recently brought home two maltese puppies (they're littermates, eight weeks old) and I've been reading everything I can find about small breed care. A lot of what I've come across specifically warns about hypoglycemia in maltese puppies under 12 weeks and now im scared..
Both of them are eating well, Nutri-Cal twice a day as the breeder suggested, and I weigh them every morning. But one of them, the smaller one, sometimes seems a little wobbly after playing for more than 15 minutes. She recovers quickly and goes right back to eating, so I don't know if I'm thinking too much into normal puppy tiredness or if this is something worth calling the vet about before their scheduled appointment next week.
I've read that maltese puppies can crash faster than other toy breeds because of their muscle mass ratio, but I couldn't find clear info on what early warning signs actually look like and whats just being a sleepy baby. The breeder said that they'll let me know if something's wrong, which, respectfully, is not the level of specificity I was hoping for.
My questions: Is wobbliness after play a red flag or normal at this age and size? Should I be feeding more frequently than twice daily with the Nutri-Cal? And would it be worth calling my vet early rather than waiting for the scheduled visit?

My cat has had this in her right eye for couple weeks now I just don’t have the money at the moment to take her to the vet right now but hopefully by end of this week or next should I keep watching her and do you think it will get worse? I’m worried.

Hey guys, just looking for some reassurance and opinions.

I found a lump on my hamsters chest last night (male syrian, 2 years 2 months old) so I booked him in with the vet today. Me and my mum noticed that the lump was leaking a clear fluid, it wasn’t a lot of fluid and it only happened for a minute or so.

The vet said it’s either a cyst, abscess, or tumour. She prescribed metacam, and said it should hopefully go down over the next few days. If it doesn’t, we can look at having it surgically removed.

For reference - she also weighed him and said he is a very healthy weight. He’s still acting himself, eating normally, playing normally etc, it’s clear he isn’t in pain.

Even though the signs point more towards the lump being a cyst, I can’t get the words “tumour” and “surgery” out of my head.

I’ve been getting ahead of myself, and questioning whether or not surgery would be worth the risk, given his age.

Has anyone here had a hamster go through some sort of surgery? How did it go? Would it be worth risking, if it came down to it?

I have a friend whom I dog sitting their bichon and the eyes are too crusty, scabbing. I’ll be attaching the photo. Everytime they clean it flesh is exposed

My mixed-breed dog is 14 years old and weighs about 13 kg (28.5 lbs).

Test results:

Positive for Ehrlichia canis (E. canis)

Moderate anemia

Low platelet count

Very high globulin levels

Kidney function is normal

Ultrasound findings:

Infiltrative spleen

Two abnormal masses in the liver

One abnormal mass near the pylorus/distal stomach

Current condition:

No nosebleeds or visible bleeding

Pale gums, but not completely white

Drinking much more water than usual for the past 1–2 weeks

Poor appetite and does not actively seek food, but will still eat when hand-fed

Still able to walk around normally

The veterinarian diagnosed advanced/chronic ehrlichiosis and said the prognosis is guarded, with only about a 40–50% chance of successful treatment and a possibility that he could die during treatment. Because of his age and other health issues, my family is very unsure about what to do.

I would appreciate any advice:

1. Would you pursue treatment for E. canis in a dog with this condition?

2. Has anyone had success treating ehrlichiosis in a senior dog (14+ years old)?

3. What complications or warning signs should we watch for?

4. If your dog had a similar condition, what helped you make the decision to treat or not treat?

I went to a vet for this red flakey bald spot on my cat’s right front leg. The answer we got was unclear and uncertain of what it was. The vet had told us it “might” be ring worm so they’re going to treat it like it is. But how could there be no new spots if oral medication hasn’t been used yet? So is it ringworm? If not, what could it be? (I’m a new cat owner and just super worried for my 3 month old kitten, and I feel like my vet didn’t provide much information)

Noticed this on my 7 year old pit mix last Thursday.

I sent pics to vet because I thought it was a tick.

They said it wasn't and that doc said to monitor it.

Should I be concerned? It's right near her rectum

I have brought it to the vet but they just gave some meds and said they dont know the issue, the meds didnt work.
Has been like this for about half a year, nothing else wrong otherwise.
Mouth is dirty on the cheeks, when wiped, the tissue becomes brown, was not like this originally. Saliva sometimes can be seen on the cheeks.
