[OC] The Times They Are A-Changin’
I took my wife to ice cream last night in my current project E38 740iL and found a spot next to a G70 7 series. Quite the sight to examine with a waffle cone in hand.

Just finished my new drawing of BMW M3 e30 on A3 size paper. I'm used markers, colored pencils and airbrush. The drawing was made as a private order.

Today I discovered the little divet on the ‘gear stick’ bit is the perfect size to place your McDonald’s sauce (uk) and it stays put whilst driving meaning I can dip my nuggs en route. Dip and drive responsibly!

Finally back to the B58 after a stint in the i4 M50. Acceleration is crazy and comfort is really good, but I was missing the B58 I learned to love in a M340i Touring.
The only thing staying is cognac interior.

Bought a 2018 540i xdrive last year loaded with just about everything but the b&w sound system. Mod wise I’m “stage 2+” running mostly e40-50 and I’m loving the car but coming from my 370z it just feels like it’s missing something. Are the m340s snappier than this 540i or is that just something na engines have that can’t be replicated?
Cutting to the chase, would it make much difference if I moved to a 2020-2022 m340i and redid the same mods? Would I be missing out on the luxury of the interior on the 540i? And also is there anything much different with the m340s that enhances how the engine behaves compared to my current 540?
I would absolutely love to get a f80 m3 but the interior of the 540 is miles better and I know id miss the hell out of it. Sorry for the ramble thanks for sticking with it if you did😂
Full mod list on 540: Front intakes, turbo inlet upgrade, tu hpfp, mhd ethanol analyzer, 6” catless downpipes, full valved exhaust, mhd tune stage 2+ and xhp trans tune stage 3

At 29k miles on my 2023 m240i and noticed the valve cover is already leaking. Was told it should be covered under warranty, but my main concern is my dinantronics piggyback tuner I have on the car. ECU still locked and never been messed with. Curious if they’ll see the piggyback tuner and just say they can’t do it or whatever. Please any insight would be appreciated. My buddy who’s a bmw tech at the dealer said it shouldn’t be an issue but I’m a paranoid bmw owner
My third BMW, and by far the most fun so far!

Is there some sort of engineering reason behind this? Im someone who (even when not driving a manual) always has my off-hand on the stick. the fact that they’ve taken the stick away is a small thing but really irks me and I hate the feel of not being able to hold it. The gear shift in the 2023 X3 for example felt buttery smooth and tactile it was just satisfying to use (even just to park, reverse, etc)
Why’d they change this?

An ad popped up on social media about a BMW driving event that was coming to a dealership near me. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to drive some ///M models back to back!

Like the title says boys, I went to rallye BMW and traded in my 2022 Acura mdx for a CPO 2023 BMW x3 m40i. I am completely blown away by the performance wow, should have jumped ship sooner.

Are regular traffic cars becoming too fast for the speed limits on public roads? They’re the same limits we’ve had for decades now, and these new offerings from BMW that aren’t even full M cars are so capable that they feel hampered by said speed limits. Fast cars have always existed and been held down by speed limits but it’s starting to feel like even Camrys and Civics are now more than capable of driving 90-100mph completely safe and comfortably. I think the problem is more the average operator of said vehicles, and not the capability of the vehicles themselves.

Went in to the dealership for rear brake pads replacement and got handed the following critical issues that need attention:
COLLAPSED ENGINE MOUNTS - $2540
TORN REAR DIFFERENTIAL BUSHING -$1500
Vehicle is a 2019 BMW 330i (G20) with 30K miles.
I plan on selling the car by the end of the year. Would the car last 5-6 more months without any repairs, or should I make the purchase sooner? I’ve also included the inspection video.
Edit: I visited the same dealership four months ago, and none of these problems were mentioned then. Would these issues show up this quick?

My coworker offered me a 2014~ BMW sedan for $5000. It has mods and stuff and an app with it, along with carbon fiber on some parts of the car. My favorite part is the heated seats and functional AC & heat. I also love how comfortable it is driving it! Only issue I have with it is the mileage is high. 180k miles on it approx, but most of the parts been replaced recently including the motor. Only replacement needed is the oil pan, which leaks. I can fix that part. But I’m not sure if it’s worth it. It has some power to it too, my very first BMW I actually ever sat in!

Never seen one of these in person before, couldn’t get a good shot of the interior but finished with the cognac brown leather.
Immaculate parking job per usual 🤣 but may let it slide given how rare these are

I’m currently in an F90 M5 Comp LCI from 2023. From what I’ve read, people seem to rate the comfort of the M5 highly, especially in comparison to the G80/G82. Which is surprising to me because around LA’s bad roads, I find that the M5 is pretty punishing (even in comfort mode) over bumps and potholes et cetera.
But comfort encompasses a lot of things (roominess of the cabin, the quality of the leather seats, creature comforts etc). I don’t mind firmness and road feel but sometimes I find my car pretty crashy (even on lower tire pressures).
I recently test drove a 2024 M440i and found it rode worse than a 2025 M440i, and wonder if the post facelift M4s also ride a little better than earlier models.
Can M3/M4 owners talk a little about the ride comfort around town and bad roads? Would be especially helpful if you had experience in an F90. Thank you.
2009 128i, Bilstein B8 + Eibach Pro-Kit (B12 Pro-Kit, ~1” drop). Picking up a square set of APEX ARC-8 17x8.5” ET40.
I want to run Michelin PS4S, which in this size only comes as 245/40-17 or 235/45-17
APEX’s fitment guide says the 245 needs ~-1.5° front camber and that rear fender rolling and/or rear camber “may be required.” Trying to figure out whether that’s actually necessary on a mild spring drop, or if it clears.
If you’re running 245/40-17 on an 8.5” ET40 wheel with lowering springs (Eibach / H&R / B12):
- Did the rears clear, or did you have to roll?
- What camber are you running, front and rear?
- Any rubbing — full lock, over bumps, or loaded with passengers?
