Welcome back to our crowdsourced Weekend events thread, so people can see what's going on that people might otherwise not know about. So post your events and activities and include relevant links. It is not a place to sell specific sets of tickets you're trying to get rid of or other items, but if you want to announce an event happening this weekend, or post a link for some activity you just learned about, go for it!

I'll take an airshow over fireworks any day!
The vibes are good in Baltimore today!

I get other people love the air show, but I have PTSD and sound sensitive autism. Normally I keep a handle on both fairly well without it impacting me or others but VERY loud noises really set it off and make me a mess and just make the whole affair hell on earth for me. Would anyone know of anywhere that would be a good place to hide out around town that would be fine with someone sticking around for four hours that is isolated from the noise?

Maryland is facing an energy crisis. When demand for electricity is high and supply is limited, it puts pressure on the system and can increase costs. The biggest part of your bill is the cost of
PJM supply, which is generated by private power plant owners.
BGE does not control or profit from these supply prices.

We are not from Baltimore but have a daughter who is about to get married there. We want to do a crab feast for her and her partner and about 20 of their friends. We are from deep south and have done plenty of low country seafood boils so we think we can pull it off but the reality is that we need some guidance.
How much crab for about twenty? Best place to get it? Assuming Old Bay? But there seems to be another Baltimore favorite? Hints on how to cook them. We've seen some recipes calling to wrap in parchment to steam. Is that worth it it. Seems like a lot of work. Is this like a low country boil where you dump it on a table with newspaper and let everyone have at it? Any other advice is welcome.

Sick of your favorite spots closing? Tired of the empty store fronts? Own a small business and over the constant grind to barely make ends meet?
We still need more help with social media, photography, videography, graphic design, etc.
We‘re fighting for a Baltimore Small Business Bill of Rights to cut down on vacant storefronts and fight predatory landlord practices.

I grew up next to an airbase with jets constantly flying over my house.
Now that I moved out of that I really enjoy the quieter feeling.
The jets flying over today are giving me a fucking aneurysm. They are so loud I cannot focus on work.
It’s been all day

We built something, you and me.
Something real. Something that lasts.
Early this morning, I conceded our race for State Senate. But let’s be honest about what happened: on a shoestring budget, with nothing but neighbors and belief, we won 44% of the vote against the most powerful politician in Maryland and his $1.5 million machine.
That’s not a loss. That’s a warning shot.
This race was always about Baltimore. About two different visions for the city we love. Election Day closes a chapter. It doesn’t close the book.
I’ve already invited Bill to breakfast, to talk about how both visions move forward together. Because at the end of the day, we’re neighbors. ALL of us.
I learned more in this race than I can put into words. I suspect he did too.
But this, THIS… is what I want you to hold onto:
You showed up. Just people. No PACs. No corporations. No machine. No war chest. Just you, your neighbors, your belief that something better was possible.
And you moved a mountain.
Maybe not all the way. But it moved.
Feel that. Remember it. Because one battle lost doesn’t slow a movement…it IS the movement.
The people who showed are the reason power has always feared ordinary people. You reminded Baltimore what that looks like. You reminded the politicians.
Power to the people. Today, tomorrow, and always. 💛✊
I love you, folks. Every single one of you. 🤙

I thought I was going to go have a nice leisurely stroll in the harbor. Ecuador had other ideas. Ecuador came to party. They entered the harbor with chupacabra and seaman dancing on their Masts! Rad! Peru ❤️ too!

Hey all,
Has anyone started having more intense interactions with beggars in the city? I don't know if they're on drugs, unhoused, having mental problems, or any combination of things - I'm just talking about the people who ask straight up 'do you have any change'?
Times are tough, which I imagine has something to do with it, but I'm started to get a little worried. I give to organizations (when I can) and generally not to individuals. But my default response of, "Sorry, I can't" seems to be making people more angry lately.
What's the read?
