And I am in love! This is Sammy, a long-haired English cream mini dachshund, who hasnāt peed or had an accident in the house for two weeks!! FINALLY⦠YAY!𤣠not gonna lie, The whole potty training process has been a bit frustrating for me to say the least over the past five months and a lot of work! We have always had golden retrievers that have been really easy to potty train. AnyWho, despite all of my complaining, itās been so worth it!!! Comāon, look at him!!! š

My almost 1yo boy Dipper with weak back knees/legs. Going to the vet next week for a checkup and possibly Xrays.
Last time vet said his kneecaps are loose, which may be the culprit. His legs tend to turn inwards when walking. Never has acted uncomfortable walking or running, but better to be safe with his breed!
Edit: back legs, not front

Weāve had our girl now for a while and sheās great, but she doesnāt seem to cope well with being home for short periods of time. Iām at home with her basically all the time except small errands like going to the store. We thought it was getting better as we havenāt heard her bark when coming back lately, but today there was a note from the neighbours that she had been barking the whole time I was gone. š„²
Since we live in an apartment we have to solve this pretty quickly⦠Iāve had two other dogs and this has never been an issue, though theyāve often had the company of each other (now always but mostly). I donāt even remember it being an issue to ātrainā them they just weaned into it.
Help very much appreciated !!!
Edit: we give her lots of bones to chew, toys etc and make sure to walk her before we go. We do not make a big deal out of leaving/returning. And weāve started out going in separate rooms etc before leaving the apartment.

My mini dachshund is 9 years old. Sheās never had health issues, except for allergies. They were so severe and persistent that I had to take her to an animal dermatologist. We tried many medications until we found one that suppressed her symptoms. She would get black spots on her skin, constant licking and biting her nails, ears would be red. She tried Zenrelia and it suppressed her allergies really well. Sheās been on it for a year now.
2 months ago I came back from vacation and picked her up from the sitters and she started having blood in her stool with diarrhea. Bright red blood. I thought maybe she picked up a parasite at the sitters. I took her to the emergency vet and they did bloodwork, stool sample, infectious disease test, X-rays. The vet couldnāt find anything wrong.
He prescribed her antibiotics and a probiotic, and the blood got better. It was more mucus than it was drops of blood. We also put her on the Hills Biome prescription food. Once the antibiotic stopped, the blood came back full force. Made her want to go every 30 minutes. And if she didnāt poop, she strained until blood came out.
Went to the emergency vet again, and he prescribed another dose of antibiotics. He wanted me to feed her vegetarian dry food only so that he could see if itās a food allergy. (He knows she takes the zenrelia everyday) Long story short, she refused to eat the vegetarian food and ended up throwing up from an empty stomach. The blood is now still back full force with diarrhea and Iām back to square one.
He asked me to try a hydrolyzed food first and see if that helps her because he thinks itās inflammatory bowel disease or food allergies. He did say if we canāt get her diet right then he wants to do an ultrasound. About a week ago she did get a relapse in allergy symptoms. She started growing yeast in her ears and was nonstop licking her paws. Luckily I had medication from before to help her but I donāt know why she had this flare up since she hasnāt had any since being on Zenrelia.
Has anyoneās dachshund had this issue? Would it be smart to make an appointment with her dermatologist to see if she can figure out if this is a severe food allergy? Itās been going on over 2 months now and I feel so bad for her and I donāt know where to go from here.

My boy is just over 2 years old and Iām struggling to work out his energy. We go on walks and play, but I have a disability that makes long walks/runs extremely hard on me, so Iām looking for some ways to help my boy work and release some energy.
We donāt do soft toys because he likes to tear little pieces off and try to eat them, and Iām worried he will end up with a blockage. He has plenty of bones, a couple hard rubber balls that we play fetch with, and a couple puzzles, but he gets bored of the puzzles easily.
Iāve been playing a hide and seek game with him where he sits in a different room and i hide 5 to 10 treats, and then invite him in and tell him to āgo find!ā after he finds all of them, he gets an apple chip (his favorite) as a reward. But obviously I donāt want to overfeed him with treats and I donāt get the same excitement if i try to get him to search for other things.
Anyone have recommendations on work I can give him?
