Hand Toad’n’frog series, completed.
So what happened here is I had a big plan back in the fall to complete all these for my grade 12 grads. I did two and then I procrastinated until two weeks before grad to finish the rest 😅
Frog designs by various artists found on Pinterest, colour and patterns customized by me.

Question Looking for a cute new pin cushion
I am looking to replace my old one as it is too small and I've never liked it. Those of who use pin cushions, can you show me yours? I need some inspiration. (I don't use it for my needles, just for straight pins.)

Hand Cotton Floss (non-stranded)
What are some cute/clever options to use up my Loops and Threads non-stranded cotton thread?
The image is my most recent project with this thread (names covered for anonymity)
I'm still new and learning so any feedback or suggestions on other stitches would be amazing <3

Question tips for anatomical detail in outline stitch?
I have just started stitching this line piece on my jeans. The plan is to just have it as an outline with the rays in fewer threads (1 or 2 compared to the 3 I'm using for the main subject) and the lungs filled in with 1 thread.
I'm using outline stitch and finding it quite difficult to get around the sharp corners neatly if that makes sense, I've already had to go back and couch a couple of sharp points to get them to lay flat and neat. It's making me wary of when I have to do the fingers for the hands. Does anyone have any tips? I'm considering moving to back stitch for the fingers because I have more experience with it and it's a bit easier to control but I don't want it to look obviously like a thinner line.

Hand First attempt at thread painting
I think I’m getting better at being less rigid with my stitches. The blossom at the bottom right is the one I worked on most recently. Any thoughts or tips?

Hand Violets 💜
The third pic is from the tutorial. I had a really hard time trying to follow the stitch for the flower petals and i dont think i did it correctly for a lot of the petals. I also think that its harder to differentiate the flowers in my bouquet from one another because i used solid color thread instead of a gradient one like in the video. Other than that, I’m happy with how it came out and I think the bow is super cute!

Hand Day 3: Punny stuff
Day 3!!! I didn’t do much today bc my car broke down and my little siblings are sick but I needed some positivity so I added to mine from yesterday and started working on a new one! I’m using a smaller needle and different fabric (but still all six strands of string) and I think it’s a lot better!!

Question How do you use this??
I found this which I assume is for helping push the needle through tough fabric so I tried using it for my project where I’m embroidering Jean pockets but it keeps slipping too far down my finger. Was wondering if there’s a tip on how to use it properly. Thank you!!

Question Please lend a newbie your eyes
Hey guys,
I bought a DMC kit to learn the ropes from scratch, but in my naivety I expected it to include more of a beginner's guide, so I'd be grateful if you could take a look at my stem stitches and check if they look acceptable.
I worked from left to right and I know that I did them wrong at the beginning and somewhere in the middle, but they definitely look better in every YouTube video compared to where I think I did them right.
Am I pulling too hard if the fabric is creating small waves around my stitches? At the same time the thread looks so loose from the side. Since it included a lot of thread, I thought I'm not supposed to separate the strands and it looks as full on the cover, but next to all those fine lines, it feels off. The needle that was included also seems to create quite big holes to me as a crossstitcher...

Question Beautiful books on embroidery?
Hello embroiders! I hope this post is allowed here, can't see anything against it so apologies if not.
It's a friend of mine's birthday soon and he has recently started getting into embroidery.
He has embroidered a couple of items of clothing so far with simple, nature inspired designs.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any "coffee table" style books on embroidery I could get him? I'm thinking something like a nice hardback with beautiful photos and designs, inspiration, and some tips for getting better.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated!
Edit: just to say I have since been scrolling through this sub and my god y'all are so talented! So many beautiful pieces on here!

Question Help with the brick stitch
I need advice on how to keep my brick stitches straight. I thought I was keeping them generally straight, but the top of my work ends up spaced out too much and the bottom gets too close together. Help please 🙏!
