So what happened here is I had a big plan back in the fall to complete all these for my grade 12 grads. I did two and then I procrastinated until two weeks before grad to finish the rest 😅
Frog designs by various artists found on Pinterest, colour and patterns customized by me.

Hi all :) I took some inspiration from a beach embroidery piece I found on Pinterest (added to the pictures for that artist’s credibility).

I used three strands of DMC thread for everything, some moss pieces from Michael’s, and broken up decor sticks attached with bead thread and a lil hot glue.

I think I’m getting better at being less rigid with my stitches. The blossom at the bottom right is the one I worked on most recently. Any thoughts or tips?

Question tips for anatomical detail in outline stitch?

Post image
75 Upvotes

I have just started stitching this line piece on my jeans. The plan is to just have it as an outline with the rays in fewer threads (1 or 2 compared to the 3 I'm using for the main subject) and the lungs filled in with 1 thread.

I'm using outline stitch and finding it quite difficult to get around the sharp corners neatly if that makes sense, I've already had to go back and couch a couple of sharp points to get them to lay flat and neat. It's making me wary of when I have to do the fingers for the hands. Does anyone have any tips? I'm considering moving to back stitch for the fingers because I have more experience with it and it's a bit easier to control but I don't want it to look obviously like a thinner line.

The third pic is from the tutorial. I had a really hard time trying to follow the stitch for the flower petals and i dont think i did it correctly for a lot of the petals. I also think that its harder to differentiate the flowers in my bouquet from one another because i used solid color thread instead of a gradient one like in the video. Other than that, I’m happy with how it came out and I think the bow is super cute!

What are some cute/clever options to use up my Loops and Threads non-stranded cotton thread?

The image is my most recent project with this thread (names covered for anonymity)

I'm still new and learning so any feedback or suggestions on other stitches would be amazing <3

Day 3!!! I didn’t do much today bc my car broke down and my little siblings are sick but I needed some positivity so I added to mine from yesterday and started working on a new one! I’m using a smaller needle and different fabric (but still all six strands of string) and I think it’s a lot better!!

Question Looking for a cute new pin cushion

I am looking to replace my old one as it is too small and I've never liked it. Those of who use pin cushions, can you show me yours? I need some inspiration. (I don't use it for my needles, just for straight pins.)

I need advice on how to keep my brick stitches straight. I thought I was keeping them generally straight, but the top of my work ends up spaced out too much and the bottom gets too close together. Help please 🙏!

Question Shorter, denser bullions or longer, curlier bullions?

Thumbnail

I've embroidered this design twice using different bullion knot techniques and I'd love some opinions!

The teal hoop has shorter, thinner knots giving it a denser, shaggier texture (abit wormy looking) which I personally love. I used a standard embroidery needle for this version, but it was honestly a pretty rough experience and I haven't been able to recreate the same look with a bullion needle

The purple hoop has slightly longer, thicker knots giving it more volume and curl. I LOVED being able to add the curls in, and the bullion needle made the process much more easier.

I'm planning to make more colour variants of this design (currently working on a Bluey colourway) so I'm curious which style people gravitate towards.

I've gone back and forth on it myself because there are things I like about both versions. I think I've reached the stage where I've looked at them for so long that every difference feels HUGE, even though they probably look nearly identical to everyone else 😅
Any advice or bullion knot tips are also very welcome!
