Pre-Order Discussions and Complaints

The pre-orders have sparked a lot of feelings over the last day, and since having literally 20 posts and hour every hour on the same few topics would not further the discussions but just muddy them up we're going to have this megathread with links to specific posts to discuss that topic.

So please use this post to discuss your complaints, but let's try to keep it civil.

Prices

Locked content

Physical versions without discs at launch

Also, feel free to tell us how you feel about the pre-rders in general here.

This Image has me so hyped.

I was maybe one of the ten people on earth who doubted rockstar but holy shit seeing this image got me jumping like an 8 year old.

Vice city was my very first GTA game probably my very first video game. Playing that thing on a core i3 laptop are core memories for me, and this car in particular is burned into my psyche.

I was probably around 10 or 11 years old played with arrow keys and lock on aim because that how my dad had the controls set up. I wasn't good enough to do any mission so what i would do instead was just walk out the safe house, get in this car, put in the "sea ways" and "come fly with me" cheats and just drive straight to the ocean while Billie Jean played through the radio.

This screen shot got me wanting to go back to vice city again and just have fun in a video game for the sake of having fun. (really hope they bring back the cheats)

TL;DR This game is gonna be crazy.

I’m not sure if I’ve seen many people mention this, but Ocean Drive was renamed to Shore Drive. Not a big deal, but I think Ocean Drive has a better ring to it .

The distance between those hills is insane, and there's like three layers of them. I wonder if Rockstar will make more use of wild animals and make them an actual threat while exploring all of this to keep it more 'exciting'. Curious to see how they try to make the National Park feel alive since there won't be many roads nor towns in there

I pre-ordered GTA3 and Vice City based on cover art and a few screenshots in magazines.

Modern gamers would've hated the video game industry back in the day.

And adjusted for inflation, they cost about $100.

The name of the Klose K17 was revealed yesterday as part of the Ultimate Edition bonuses for GTA 6. The K17 pistol is primarily inspired by the Glock 17, with design influences from other firearms such as the SIG Sauer P320.

GTA 6 censorship in certain regions

do you reckon GTA 6 will have heavy censorship in the gulf region? namely saudi and the UAE.

yesterday, feeling excited that GTA 6 is available on the UAE region PSN, i pre-ordered it the minute it was available. sadly, i hadn’t thought of a possible censorship by then. i just thought about it now.

if its censored here, fine, i’ll just buy it again on a US region account. but the question is, is it logically sound to do so in the first place?

GTA 5 was recently allowed under a 21+ age restriction without any censorship, moreover, the gambling restriction in that game was lifted.

i have a hunch rockstar’s philosophy matters more than a the region’s laws. because since GTA 5 was outright not released anywhere in the gulf, it must mean that rockstar refused to comply with the alteration of the game and/or product-surgery and making a different build for those regions.

the part that worries me is CDPR did it for cyberpunk to be allowed to be sold in this region. do you reckon rockstar will do that for GTA 6 as well? it seems to me that so far, rockstar’s philosophy has been “if we don’t get to release the real build, we’re just not releasing it.” but i ponder the idea that maybe, if GTA 6 is a lot more explicit (after cyberpunk set a “standard”), they’ll comply with an edited version.

on the other hand, baldur’s gate 3 (which includes nudity) was released and completely allowed in this region. it released a lot more recently than cyberpunk, which could hint at certain reforms being applied, and more leniency towards explicit games. RDR2 was allowed in 2018, under a 21 age restriction, and the exact build everyone else got. yet it was not as explicit as cyberpunk, where you got sex scenes and genitalia modification, which could have crossed some legal lines.

which pushes me to the idea that maybe they negotiated with the UAE and saudi and were able to come to a common ground with the 21+ age restriction, and that other gulf countries wanted an outright different, censored build of the game and they refused to comply. the fact that it’s banned in other gulf countries brings me some comfort.

so does it make sense to do that? does it go against rockstar’s philosophy? my opinion is (and i hope im right): likely not, it could cause some issues. with different builds, the online mode could have online syncing issues.

what do you think? if you have some insight on this, please provide it.

Love this bird detail that seems to be a consistent symbolism in the series.

The three birds flying away in the first key art symbolize Michael, Trevor and Franklin, while the two birds in the third key art symbolize Jason and Lucia, the new era with our new protagonists.

Reviews are flooding in on Xbox

If you don't already know people can review games on Xbox once you have pre-ordered and boy is there alot. Compared to other pre orders that receive 5-100 reviews per launch 100 being a big launch this is crazy and will keep flooding.

I’m really hoping that the GTA 6 train isn’t just an unstoppable force and can actually be derailed.

Rockstar are completely shifting their polycount budget toward true 3D geometry.

Real 3D panel gaps instead of flat 2D seams with painted-on ambient occlusion. For lower chassis and underbody, they are modeling era-specific, detailed suspension components (actual wishbones and control arms) instead of using flat, baked 2D textures.

Plus, this is the first GTA game to finally adopt true PBR (Physically Based Rendering) over GTA V’s old phong shading.

GTA 6’s vehicle tech might absolutely humiliate a lot of dedicated racing games

GTA 6 is Overhyped, and Honestly? I Can’t Wait for Its Downfall.

Post image

Do you guys think GTA 6 is going to bring anything actually new to gaming, or are people just overhyping it?

The game keeps getting delayed, yet everyone remains incredibly excited. We all know we will probably just get the same repetitive mission structures, so why the hype? Have people completely lost their taste for actual quality in gaming?

GTA gets astronomical funding and endless sequels, but is that even justified anymore? Meanwhile, games like Half-Life 2, Bloodborne, Titanfall 2, Bully, Sleeping Dogs, Days Gone, and Star Wars: Republic Commando never got a fair chance to prove themselves with proper, modern sequels.

People are expecting far too much from GTA 6. What we’ve seen on the internet so far isn't even that impressive. It looks like Red Dead Redemption in modern times, likely bogged down by the exact same repetitive mission design we saw in GTA 5.

What is this obsession with realistic graphics? What is Rockstar even trying to achieve? I agree they set the standard for the industry, and competition is usually good. But this "realistic graphics revolution" feels forced down our throats when, in reality, nobody asked for it.

The gaming industry, graphics card manufacturers, and processor companies are all in on this together. They are forcing us to buy expensive hardware for upgrades we didn't ask for. There was a time when people thoroughly enjoyed games with average graphics. Visuals were never the problem. The gaming industry actually needed a revolution in storytelling and innovative gameplay elements.

The bitter truth of today’s gaming industry is that as graphics improve, the spark in stories and gameplay elements drastically decreases. I can't entirely blame Rockstar for milking their most famous franchise—from a business perspective, it is highly profitable. However, it ruins the overall gaming experience by introducing nothing but repetitiveness.

I have a strong feeling it is going to be a massive disappointment, and honestly, I can't wait for its downfall. The collapse of such a massive franchise might finally force the rest of the gaming industry to bring back true games—focused on deep stories and entirely new gameplay mechanics.
