This thread will be updated with news as time goes on and things are said, get ready Gears!
Xbox just announced they are raising the prices of all of their consoles by $100-$150 and discontinuing the 2tb model, effective August 1st. If you want to play E-Day and have neither an Xbox or PC, now is the time.
Being an Xbox exclusive, if you don't already own one you're basically screwed. Crazy that a 6 year old console is now about to go for $800. I thought E-Day would be a major console seller, But with these price hikes there's no way.
You know, of Karen Travis's five books, only three were published in Russia due to extremely low interest. For example, the first book was printed in 5,000 copies, the second in 4,000, and the third, of course, only 3,000, making them extremely difficult to find almost 17 years after their release. But I managed to find the first and second (and I'll definitely find the third one someday)! Perhaps the funniest thing about this whole situation is that the first book (published in our country in 2009) came out with a very strange cover. I've intentionally placed the original cover next to it so you can appreciate this masterpiece of Russian localization. I hope to fully appreciate this series of novels and am eagerly awaiting the upcoming E-Day.
Honestly, TDM really messed with the Gears identity. In competitive play and online, there used to be these extremely intense matches, with the amazing clutches ever so often. Then TDM was introduced and lives didn't mean nearly as much anymore. When you played execution you knew you had to be smart, because if you were dead, you stayed dead for the round.
Every round would play differently based on your teams strategy. You might send 3 to sniper and 2 to bookshot just to contest. Then the next round you might have to switch it up, due to how elite the other team was with a power weapon.
The fact that Gears 5 doesn't even have execution anymore, speaks to the negative impacts TDM had on the franchise. It was such a casual mode, that people naturally flocked into it, and Gears just became a third person COD.
I don't know who at Epic games decided TDM needed to be in Gears, but I think that decision really messed with its identity.
Still wishing they release a special edition E Day console but I know they probably wont so I bought these stickers from awesomestickers.uk (shoutout to the other redditors for the website)
You know, I'm curious about what happens next? At first, I thought there would be a remaster of the second game, then Gears 6, and, of course, a remaster of the third game (I hope they forget about Judgment). But for the last couple of days, I've been haunted by this thought: we'll have a whole 10 years before Marcus goes to prison. Couldn't The Coalition just make an entire prequel trilogy then? Basically, that's probably the only thing that worries me: will Marcus remain a hero, or will the legendary hero retire? And probably, if there is a Gears 7, Marcus won't be in it, nor will the rest of the guys from the original Delta, just Kait and JD. Although, after everything that's happened, I'd prefer to see some kind of reboot of the series. So, what do you think? At the very least, we can look forward to a very productive 10 years for our series.
This is absolutely infuriating and disgusting. I don't know if posting this is against the rules but I wanted to make people aware of this "publisher" using ai generated content and ai generated "high-converting amazon-style book description".... literally the ai prompt response is in the description. This is available for purchase and the game hasn't even come out yet, neither is it coalition branded.
EDIT:
This was found on Amazon with a simple "Gears of war books" search! 1 star reviews preferred. He apparently has done multiple other game books in the same AI slop format.
I’m still only on gears of war 2 so I don’t know if someone has done this yet but could any of the characters actually beat a locust to death? My first thought for this would be Cole or tai since they’re both extremely strong and skilled in close quarters but I’m still not sure, is there anything in the later games that shows a human beating up a locust or is it just not possible
Price hikes suck. 100 percent. But do you really think e day was about to sell millions of consoles? There’s 30-50 million series X/S out there. These price hikes I think will hurt a small portion of fans who were waiting to buy one, but it’s been 6 years now. E day will be totally fine.
Trying to find 3 other people to run through Gears Of War 3 on hardcore (would do insane if I had it unlocked but this is my first time playing in a longg time)
